The May Favorites Thread 2019!

Can you all believe it’s already time for another monthly favorites thread?! It feels like just yesterday we were sharing our April must-haves. We love learning about the products other beauty lovers have been enjoying to most each month and we’re so excited to see which hair, skincare, fragrance, and makeup products you used the most during the month of May. As always, whether the products are new, a faithful holy-grail, or maybe just a favorite you rediscovered, we are here for it and want to know about it!

I’ll get the party started. Here are my May favorites:

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

@itsfi, I love it for day and night.  It's much thicker in consistency than their other essences.  Some people pat it on, but I hate the stickiness from doing that and prefer massaging it on instead.

@greenbean13 Hourglass Veil is incredible!💗

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

That Fenty set is gorgeous @greenbean13! One of my favorites! <3

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

@greenbean13  I love your assortment of minis. I got the Fenty mini duo as well, and really enjoy it.

I used to think, “Minis aren’t a good value. I’ll get the full-size instead.” But, like you, I realized I never hit pan on highlighters, and rarely do I finish a gloss or lipstick. Minis are a good value for us 😁

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

That Supergoop Unseen is a great SPF @Weetart! Smiley Happy

love hello calm @Weetart great bunch of favorites

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

@Weetart How does the Philosophy Pure Grace Desert Summer smell? I really like some of the other Grace “spin offs” but I haven’t seen that one!

RE: Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

@alexasteph Oh I love it! I purchased it at Ulta, came with a small bottle of body emulsion with same scent. Um, it has a real light floral scent. Not overwhelming at all, really delicate. I’m pretty sure I smell a touch of jasmine. But honestly I just can’t place it. The bottle has a cactus on it so I bet that is part of the formula. I think it’s this years summer scent. I hope they keep this one around I’ve been using it every evening when I get ready for bed. Really lovely!

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

After years of questing, I think I have finally found ~the one~ when it comes to eyebrow definer. I’ve tried all the big names (Anastasia, Benefit, Dior, etc.), all the formulas (dry, cream, gel, pommade, etc.), and formats (gel brush, eyebrow brush, pencil, etc.) and this one is not only a May favourite, but it has also won the permanent spot in my daily routine:

TARTE - Amazonian Clay Waterproof Brow Mousse

It’s a perfect match to my brow colour and has turned my morning brow routine into a no-stress, two-minute piece of cake. The formula works so well with my brows, and the brush it came with is superb.

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

@PinkEvergreen that's awesome. Does it come in a few shades? I know Tarte can sometimes be limited with shade range. What would be others near the top for you?

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

@ShortErica  Yes, it does. It comes in fewer shades than Anastasia usually offers with brow products, but it’s decent nonetheless.

Others that were near the top for me were:

BENEFIT COSMETICS - Gimme Brow+ Volumizing Eyebrow Gel

DIOR - Diorshow Brow Styler Ultra-Fine Precision Brow Pencil

I really like the Dior precision pencil in particular. It would have been my permanent choice if it hadn’t been for the fact that I use it up so quickly. The Tarte brow mousse, on the other hand, will probably last me two years, if not more.

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

@PinkEvergreen I've only used the Ulta brow tint. I had a sample of the Anatasia brow wiz but it broke so I really didn't get to test it. It's interesting you mentioned the Gimme Brow. That's the one I always consider but haven't tried yet.

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

@PinkEvergreen  Oh wow, this is one of the brow products I have never tried...and I’ve tried a lot!

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

@PrettyPaint  I would say I tried 30+ brow products. There were some good ones in there, but there was always something about each one that didn’t work 100% for my brow situation. Plus, I had the prerequisite that a good product needed to take no longer than 5 minutes for application to achieve a great brow. (I’m sure I’m not the only one that has been sucked down the 10-minute brow hole in the morning...)

This one does everything I want, and so quickly. I’m glad I never gave up on the quest 😂

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

So glad it works so well for you. I think I’ll add it to my cart for next time I make a purchase. I definitely couldn’t deal with a product that took 10 minutes. @PinkEvergreen

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

@PinkEvergreen Oh my gosh you just reminded me I used to LOVE this brow product!  I’m happy you’ve found your IT brow product.

AMOREPACIFIC - Treatment Cleansing Foam – I wasn’t expecting to like this at all but found myself reaching for it a lot this month. It’s a gentle but powerful chemical and physical exfoliant cleanser in one. My skin felt cleansed and hydrated and looked fresh and clear.

LANCôME - Monsieur Big Waterproof Mascara Mini is one of my favorite mascaras. Lancome has been my go to for mascara for years and for the longest time I used the Waterpoof Hypnose Drama; then came Monsieur Big Waterproof. I love trying new mascaras but I keep coming back to this one.

Eminence Organic Skin Care Rosehip Triple C + E Firming Oil – a little of this dry oil goes a long way. It goes on easily, absorbs quickly and gives my complexion a nice glow without making it look or feel heavy or greasy. This is a pricey Vitamin C oil. I’m not adverse to paying more for good skincare products but I think I’ll keep looking at other Vitamin C products before deciding whether to make the splurge on this one.

SEPHORA COLLECTION - Color Enhancing Lip Scrub and SEPHORA COLLECTION - Color Enhancing Lip Oil go hand-in-hand for me. The scrub is scrubbier than the Sephora balm, in that it’s a gentle lip scrub, but its granules are more pronounced for a scrubbier experience. The scrub leaves a soft, sheer berry tint to my lips, which is nice. The berry color can be deepened with the Sephora lip oil – it glides on easily and the oil helps to keep the lips soft and moisturized.

TARTE - H2O Lip Gloss - Rainforest of the Sea™ Collection - Getaway is going to be one of my go-to colors this spring and summer. On me, it’s a MLBB base color with a pretty irridescent oomph! The formula is thick without being too thick or heavy on the lips.

I’ve been using the OUAI - Rose Hair & Body Oil more on my hair than body but will start using it as both a hair and body oil.  It has a soft, pleasant, light rose scent and works really well as a detangler an leave-in conditioner; leaves my hair feeling moisturized and looking healthy.

the lip scrub by Sara Happ is one of the best lip scrubs out there. I purchased my very first scrub from them over a decade ago at a small apothecary shop and have been using her scrubs ever since. My favorite flavor was this Limited Edition lemonade scrub. She recently came out with a  new formulation packaging for the lemonade lip scrub – it’s in a tube and texturally, it’s more like a glossy balm with exfoliating granules in it; a lot less scrubby than the original LE version. Scent-wise, the new formula smells more of sweetened lemonade. Both the old and new formulae taste delicious.

FARMACY - Honey Grail Ultra-Hydrating Face Oil is … just wonderful! I love pretty much all of the honey products by Farmacy and was so excited for this oil that I purchased a full size without testing it out beforehand. Love the hydration this dry oil infuses my skin with and I love the scent on it too!

Speaking of scents, Skinfood Black Sugar Strawberry Wash Off Mask smells amazing, like strawberry jam. It does a great job of cleansing and clearing my skin without stripping it dry. Wonderful year round but especially nice in the warmer months.

SUMMER FRIDAYS - R + R Mask is a fabulous 2-in-1 mask.  The exfoliation this mask offers is extremely gentle, gentle enough to use as a daily exfoliant, but what I like best about this mask though is the hydration it gives – my skin always looks and feels soft, smooth and so hydrated after I use this mask.

SUPERGOOP! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 has a pretty large following on BIC and I can see why. This was a great sunscreen and primer in one and I’m bummed I used up this DS already. I have a couple different kinds of sunblock from Etude House that I really like, but this SuperGoop one is right up there and I think I’ll be rotating between these three for the rest of the year.

SKINFIX - Eczema+ Hand Repair Cream - wowwy! I picked this up as a promo after hearing so many BIC’ers rave about it and I can see why. This stuff is really incredible. Creamy, soothing and nourishing – my dry skin drinks this up.
