The May Favorites Thread 2019!

May_Favorites.jpg

Can you all believe it’s already time for another monthly favorites thread?! It feels like just yesterday we were sharing our April must-haves. We love learning about the products other beauty lovers have been enjoying to most each month and we’re so excited to see which hair, skincare, fragrance, and makeup products you used the most during the month of May. As always, whether the products are new, a faithful holy-grail, or maybe just a favorite you rediscovered, we are here for it and want to know about it!

I’ll get the party started. Here are my May favorites:

Which products were your May faves? Show & tell!

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

@lmaster I am so obsessed with the Watermelon Mist!  It smells amazing and it is so refreshing!💗

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

@lmaster, as soon as I get through a couple more mists, I'm all over that GR watermelon one! It smells amazing!! Smiley Happy

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

@lmaster  I tried the watermelon mist in-store and loved it. I do want to finish some of the mists I already own, but that one is next on the list.

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

@Cyncynn the scent is what sells it for me 😍

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

I love the farmacy freshen up and PMG fetish eyes too @lmaster!❤️

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

@faeriegirl idk if I just don't perspire as much as some, but I use FARMACY - Freshen Up All-Natural Deodorant

everyday, today I took a pool completely down in 80 degree weather and cleaned gutters out and was climbing up and down and did not have any odor

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

My favorites haven't changed much in the last couple of months, but while I was cleaning out my makeup stash, I found some unopened old staple items that I had been hoarding. So, I opened URBAN DECAY - Cannonball Ultra Waterproof Mascara and URBAN DECAY - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original and remembered why I stocked up when I caught them on sale of when there was a good promo--these are perfect for the rainy, humid, 90+ degree temperatures I've been experiencing here.

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

@txcatx I feel your pain regarding the hot, humid, swampy weather!  The UD Primer Potion is one of my holy grails!💗

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

Random story, back when I first started really using makeup, I purchased Cannonball without thinking about what waterproof meant.  It wouldn't wash off that night (of course as I wasn't using a proper makeup remover!) and I freaked out and returned it.  It was the first thing I'd ever returned and I still have guilt about it.  It worked great, I was the problem! Anyway, I'm glad you posted this @txcatx and brought back that silly memory!

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

@txcatx  A YouTuber I watch (frmheadtotoe) used to talk about the Cannonball mascara in her favourites videos a lot! I’ll have to try this one out now that you’ve reminded me Smiley Happy

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

@Guessgal I bought my first tube of that mascara years ago because all the Asian American YouTube makeup people I watched used that mascara! It's really great for summer.

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

Oh really?! Yaaay twinsies! @txcatx 🤗

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

@Guessgal @txcatx Ohhhhhh I have to try this!!

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

Trying not to re-list previous months’ favorites this time. Let’s see...

Spoiler
Pat McGrath Labs Dark Matter Pigment - This is from her Dark Star eye kit. It doesn’t behave quite the same as the pressed Dark Matter shadow in her palettes: it’s much easier to apply a sheer layer and build up as needed. I can apply this over any other shadow to darken it without overpowering/oversmoking it. This pigment’s also a nice base for Pat’s iridescent sheer shadows/loose pigments/gels. I’ve used it alone to darken my hooded outer corner and create a very subtle cat eye.

FF8AC34D-16A5-4A2D-B146-56FCB823BA69.jpegL: pressed Dark Matter shadow (from a palette). R: Dark Matter pigment (from Dark Star kit).
WANDER BEAUTY - Mile High Club Mascara - The only mascara I can wear on my bottom lashes. Great brush shape and size for that, and the formula resists smudging normally caused by my itchy watery eyes (and frequent eye rubbing). It’s nice on my top lashes for a naturally long look—though not as good as my fave mascara—but it excels on my bottom lashes. I’m impressed enough to start doing my bottom lashes, after years (decades, really) of not coating them with anything.

SUPERGOOP! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 - My total eye area sunscreen. Sometimes I wear it all over my face, but for the last 2 months I’ve consistently worn it under and above my eyes, with no eye irritation or skin breakouts. Bonus points for behaving like a primer for concealer.

HOURGLASS - Ambient® Lighting Palette - I tried some Ambient Lighting singles a year or so ago and saw almost no effect on my face, so I gave up on them. This year I gave ‘em a second chance via this palette (different shades this time) and adjusted the way I use them. I never use concealer to brighten or highlight the center of my face (um, that’s where my face is naturally lightest), but I can dust or buff one of these powders there to create a radiant glow. I can also strategically apply these to the rest of my face to bring some glowy light there. So, I’m finally onboard with these powders. 😂

Spoiler
NATASHA DENONA - Blush Duo - 05 Electric Pink - Electric Pink is the shade I wear as blush, and I love it. High pigmentation that blends like a dream and lasts all day. The other shade is too light and pale a pink for my cheeks, but I’ve used it on my lids a couple times.

Commodity Book and Orris - I love both on their own, but this month I’ve been layering them atop each other. Book can overpower other scents, but Orris is just floral and fresh enough to blend nicely with while giving it a slight citrus edge.

Re: The May Favorites Thread 2019!

@WinglessOne  I had that mascara in my stash and had never tried it. I wore it today and it is indeed fantastic for the bottom lashes.

Thanks for sharing!
