What time is it? SUMMERTIME! ‘Tis the season to break out the tanning drops, bronzer, and all the SPF we can get. Every month we like to hear what hair, skincare, fragrance, and/or makeup products Community members have been loving most. We are starting this thread for you all to discuss what you’ve been reaching for most in July, so name any new treasures or holy grails that you’d like to recommend to the Community.

@txcatx I do not need any new fragrances but you've got me with "sweet mint tea", I must sample this.

I am also on a stick phase, it is so much easier to travel and I don't have to worry about TSA. If you haven't tried it yet, milk stick bronzer is fantastic!

@Cyncynn The fragrance is like sweet, mint tea, but it also has a little bit of spice to it, which I think makes it more interesting. I love it. Also, I love the Milk bronzer! I always travel with that, plus the Ilia multistick, RMS highlighter, and Laura Mercier eyeshadow sticks. Takes up way less space than palettes, and no brushes required!

I also own the RMS highlighter, if you ever looking for another "clean' highlighter in solid formula, but that looks less wet the LILAH B. - Glisten & Glow

is very good too!

@txcatx, Thanks for posting. For some reason U.S. Sephora site didn't have it, but Canada site did. I did a screenshot it so when I go to Dallas next, I'll stop into Nordstrom or Sephora and smell it.

@Luvstravel The salesperson at Atelier Cologne mentioned that Sephora is in the process of reducing the number of Atelier fragrances carried in the US, but the brand is expanding its presence at both Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus.

Skincare:

E.l.f. Hydrating Water Essence - I’ve been using this as a toner/essence combo, reaching for it more often than my usual Indie Lee CoQ-10 toner and May Coop Raw Sauce. It’s that good. Contains sodium hyaluronate, niacinamide, coffee extract, and glycerin. No alcohol, but it does have a bit of fragrance (last ingredient) that’s not very strong, dissipates quickly, and hasn’t irritated my finicky skin.

The INKEY List Retinol Fine Lines and Wrinkles Serum 1 oz/ 30 mL - I listed it last month but it deserves a repeat. I’m on week 6 (and just bumped usage up from 2x/week to 3x/week) and my skin still loves it. No bad reactions, just easy application and very radiant results.

Paula’s Choice Hyaluronic Acid Booster with Ceramides - For me, this is a miracle worker for mornings after little or no sleep. It helps plump my undereye skin and makes the rest of my face look well rested. My face always feels super hydrated after I use this. It’ll be even more fantastic in the winter.

Last spring, my dermatologist scolded me for washing my face only at night and water rinsing in the morning. He convinced me this practice was very bad for my combo skin. Washing twice daily meant a new cleanser hunt for something completely non-drying. My derm recommended a few different brands’ products, some of which I’d already tried. But I hadn’t tried any Paula’s Choice cleansers. I bought 4 of theirs (mostly travel sizes) to test. These 2 are the winners.

Hydralight One Step Cleanser - I use this most often now. It’s an unscented gel cleanser that generates almost no suds. It easily cuts through my sunscreen at night and doesn’t dry my face out the next morning. At night I still do my micellar water step first to remove any makeup, so I can’t comment on how well this cleanser removes makeup. But so far my combo skin loves it.

Clear Pore Normalizing Cleanser - Another unscented gel cleanser, but this one contains 0.5% BHA. I worried this cleanser would strip my dry zones (most cleansers geared toward acne prone skin do), but it doesn’t at all. And it’s great on my oily zone. I alternate this and Hydralight in the morning.

BECCA - Ultimate Coverage Longwear Concealer - Thicker consistency and fuller coverage than my usual NARS Radiant Creamy, but that seems to work well for my textured tear troughs (that’s usually the only place I use concealer). And this Cinnamon shade works better than I thought it would, though it’s slightly too gold toned for me. I wish Becca had a shade in this tone range with more of a deep bisque tinge.

PAT McGRATH LABS Skin Fetish Highlighter & Balm Duo Bronze - My new favorite cream highlighter. The highlighter end is great on its own, but layering it with the balm end creates a gorgeous dewy glow that doesn’t look chunky glittery. I love the Golden shade and might buy the Bronze one next.

tarte Mini Big Ego Mascara 0.15 oz/ 4.5 mL - This mascara doesn’t give me a falsies effect. It does give my nearly invisible lashes a natural looking boost with good length. It doesn’t irritate my eyes at all and it’s not hard to remove. Rarely can I say I like a mascara formula but dislike its wand: I tend to make a mess with barbell brushes. I’ll keep using this mini but won’t attempt it on my bottom lashes. Once my current Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes Vol. 2 is used up, I’ll wash the wand to use with a full size of Big Ego (and repurchase LLV2).

Frederic Malle, Superstitious - One of the few rose floral perfumes I thoroughly enjoy, probably because rose isn’t the strongest note here. It helps that there’s jasmine and vetiver in the mix, plus some seriously crisp aldehydes. It’s all very warm, almost citrusy, and silky. Some folks hate this perfume, others claim you need a super experienced nose to truly appreciate it. I dunno, I’m pretty good at detecting scent notes (I blame my wine tasting days for that) but I don’t think you need to be a fragrance expert to like Superstitious. I’ve yet to buy a full bottle of this; I keep buying this size to travel with.

Papillon Artisan Perfumes, Anubis - I’m a sucker for smoky leathery labdanum incense fragrances. Anubis tops them all. On me, Anubis is long lasting layers of all those notes plus jasmine and bits of lotus. I especially love that it doesn’t dry down into an overly sweet vanilla powder on me, like so many other leather/frankincense/myrrh perfumes do. 8-10 hours after spraying this, I get a smoky warm musky jasmine with a little frankincense.

Anubis is very potent and easy to overdo, so I never spray it on more than one spot (usually one wrist or one inner elbow) and I’m light handed on the trigger. I recently bought this bottle after using up some sample sizes, and I have no regrets about my purchase.

Just added the PC Hyaluronic Acid Booster with Ceramides to my list @WinglessOne! 🙂 I plan on giving the Elf essence a try once I've made a dent in my current stash of toners/essences.

Thanks @quspork @l8totheparty 🙂 Peach and Lily is one of my 2 usual sources of Raw Sauce, but they stopped stocking the full size sometime last year. Not sure why, or if it’s a permanent change.

@scott1201 Speaking of places that still carry it, Riley Rose (my other usual source) currently has the full size for $30 USD and I’m sure they also have the mini on sale. RR used to frequently sell out of Raw Sauce, so I’m kinda surprised to see it available online again. As much as I love that stuff, I might love the Elf essence more, especially for the price difference.

I LOVE both those perfumes!!!! Though I ended up with a full bottle of Salome instead! I am nursing a few Anubis samples, it's very special. And Superstitious is one of my favourites from Malle. It's great for formal wear. I hope you continue to enjoy them <333
