Re: The August Favorites Thread

@JaneanBT  hopefully soon! we had a little taste of fall here, and now it's back in the 90's. i am fully over it too!! i know cali heat is no joke so hopefully we both get a break soon!

Re: The August Favorites Thread

My August Favorite is not a product but a service that is offered by Sephora. It is the Perk Hydra Facial that requires a $75.00 in store purchase. The service is basically the same service which is offered at my spa for $195.00. I will be scheduling this facial every 4 weeks. The SA who conducted my Perk Hydra Facial is also a licensed esthetician. I also received great skincare recommendations.

Re: The August Favorites Thread

Love the Perk hydrafacial @Loretta55! Happy to hear that you received one. Great idea to schedule one every 4 weeks! <333

Re: The August Favorites Thread

I am scheduling my appointments for the Perk Hydra Facial before my hair appointments @itsfi. I get a hair color touch up every 4 weeks and a Devacut every 8 weeks. My salon is located 5 minutes from the mall.

Re: The August Favorites Thread

That's so awesome @Loretta55! Love hearing that you'll get in some time for yourself at least every 4 weeks! 🙂 It's great that everything is so conveniently located too! FUN!!

Re: The August Favorites Thread

@Loretta55 is the Perk Hyda facial different than the perk facial? Sounds like if they're different, the former is more focused on moisture. I'd love to hear more of your thoughts. I've had 2 perk facials and enjoyed them.

Re: The August Favorites Thread

This was my first Hydra Facial @sprocketta. I get my facials done at a MediSpa where my friend works. I told her the process that the Perk Hydra Facial entails and she told me that it was exactly the same process that the Hydra Facial at the MediSpa performs. My coworker goes for Hydra Facials regularly and she told me that she was going to try the Perk Hydra Facial, so I will keep you updated with her opinion.

I've been interested in trying that! I've had Hydra facials before at a spa and loved it. What do they do exactly during the treatment?

@Loretta55, A regular Hydra facial generally includes washing the face, a gentle acid peel, extractions (pores basically getting vacuumed out!), serums/hydration, and then an optional SPF. Some also bundle it with red or blue LED lights therapy. They can customize the serums for different skin needs. It's kind of cool because the peel and the serums are all delivered into your skin with this little handheld device that basically shoots the liquid directly into your pores. That sounds aggressive but it's pretty gentle! I definitely recommend trying it at least once to get the full experience.

Re: @loretta55, A regular Hydra facial generally includes was...

Thank you for your response @bonjourcupcake. No blue or red LED light therapy was offered. I only had regular facials performed on my face which seem like less time is spent on performing them compared to the past. When I first started getting facials, 90 minutes was spent on the procedure. I never walked away with facial redness even though I am prone to it. Today it is a different story. I had no redness from the Hydra Facial.

Re: I've been interested in trying that! I've had Hydra facia...

Upon arrival my facialist cleansed my face with Tarte Micellular Water. I sat under the steamer for about 10 minutes. Afterward she used the instrument on my face which helps to exfoliate my skin . Then she used a  Vitamin C Serum followed with a moisturizer. Please let me know the difference of techniques @bonjourcupcake . I have a feeling that it may only be the time spent during the procedure..

Re: The August Favorites Thread

  • FARMACY - Green Clean Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm you can use it for both face and eye makeup and it doesn't make your vision blurry when removing eye makeup 🙂

Re: The August Favorites Thread

Agreed! I love it. @pocketvenus

Re: The August Favorites Thread

@pocketvenus  yes! i swear by this. it removes even loads of mascara and glitter when i really lay it on thick, and it definitely doesn't leave a gross film behind. it's also awesome for liquid lipsticks that are difficult to remove!

RE: Re: The August Favorites Thread

Yea, this is for sure one of the best makeup melters out there!

Re: The August Favorites Thread

This product is such a gem, @pocketvenus! It is definitely one of my top favorite cleansing balms. It doesn't make my vision blurry either and it takes off everything.

Best regards,

Laurie 🙂

They have some good hair products! Definitely moisturizes my hair! I love it!

Re: The August Favorites Thread

Early this month I woke up one morning and my skin was much happier than usual... the only thing different I'd done the night before was try a sample of ye olde ESTéE LAUDER - Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II. So I've invested in a full size of that.

Other new keepers are Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Hyaluronic Marine Dew It Right Eye Gel 0.5 oz/ 15 mL, and JO MALONE LONDON - Poppy & Barley Cologne (the one that just launched).
