Let's talk beauty sleep! We are hoping you will share a beauty sleep tip that helps you get you get ready for bed. Whether you have a special recipe for a nighttime sleepy drink or a nightly ritual that calms your thoughts, every tip counts. We want to hear your favorite tips so please comment with one sleep tip between 1/16 – 2/11 to enter. 1. NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THIS SWEEPSTAKES OR TO RECEIVE A PRIZE. A PURCHASE WILL NOT AFFECT OR IMPROVE THE CHANCES OF WINNING.  This sweepstakes (“Sweepstakes”) is subject to all applicable laws and regulations. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. ODDS OF WINNING DEPEND ON THE TOTAL NUMBER OF ENTRIES RECEIVED.
2. Sponsor:  Sephora USA, Inc., 525 Market Street, San Francisco, CA 94105, www.sephora.com (“Sephora” or “Sponsor”).    
3. Eligibility:  Sweepstakes is open only to legal residents of the United States (including Puerto Rico but excluding Guam and all other U.S. and foreign territories and possessions not otherwise mentioned herein) and Canada (excluding Quebec residents) who are 18 years of age or older and the age of majority in their state, province or territory of primary residence as of the date of entry, and who has a registered Sephora account (no purchase or payment is necessary to sign up for a Sephora account). To Enter:  To enter the Sweepstakes, view a post from Sephora announcing the Sweepstakes (the “Sweepstakes Post”) in Sephora’s Beauty Insider Community in the Conversations section (community.sephora.com) during the Sweepstakes Period, and post a reply to the Sweepstakes Post with your sleep tip (your “Submission,” which includes both your reply and your Sephora Community username) In addition, your Submission must comply with all of the Submission Requirements listed below. Posting of your Submission constitutes your unconditional acceptance of these Official Rules. 

Submission Requirements: Your Submission must comply with these Official Rules, including all of the following Submission Requirements:

• No person other than you, the entrant, may be pictured in the Submission.

• You must own all rights to the Submission.

• The Submission must not contain any images of medical conditions or claims of medical effectiveness, or any critical comments about other images posted on Sephora’s Gallery or their authors.

• The Submission must not contain any advertisements, "junk mail," "chain letters," "pyramid schemes,"  “spam” content or references to other products, offers or websites, or any other form of solicitation.

• The Submission must not contain any email addresses, URLS to other websites, phone numbers, physical addresses or other forms of contact or personal information.

• The Submission must not contain any computer viruses, worms or other potentially damaging computer programs or files.

• Your Submission otherwise complies with Sephora’s Terms of Use (http://seph.me/VTDbQH).    

Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, disqualify any Submission that does not comply with these Submission Restrictions or that Sponsor otherwise deems to be inappropriate in its sole discretion. In the event of disqualification, the Submission will not be entered into the Sweepstakes. 

By uploading a Submission, each entrant understands and agrees that the entrant’s Submission may be accessible for viewing by the general public and any such posting will be deemed made at the direction of the entrant within the meaning of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (US) and the Communications Decency Act (US).             

Only one entry per person is permitted. Use of multiple email addresses/accounts to enter more than once is prohibited. There may be only one (1) named entrant for each Submission, regardless of the number of persons who may have contributed to the creation of the Submission.

In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of the person submitting an entry, the entry will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address associated with the Sephora registered account of the entry, which the entrant will have the obligation to establish. Entries generated by a script, computer programs, macro, or other automated means will be disqualified. 1. Sweepstakes Period:  The Sweepstakes begins on January 16, 2019 at 12:00 a.m. (midnight) Pacific Time (“PT”) and ends on February 11, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. PT. Entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. PT on February 11, 2019.   
2. Selection of Winners:  Potential winners will be selected from all eligible entries received during the Sweepstakes Period in a random drawing conducted by Sponsor on March 1, 2019 and will be notified by email. Potential winners will be required to provide Sponsor with their full name, mailing address, telephone number and/or date of birth, and may also be required to complete, sign and return an affidavit/declaration of eligibility and liability/publicity release. Canadian potential winners must also correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question in the manner specified by the Sponsor.   For US residents, if the value of any winner’s prize is $600 or more (or $500 or more if Puerto Rico resident), the winner must supply Sponsor with his/her social security number for tax purposes, and complete (if requested) a W9 form.  A winner’s prize will be forfeited upon the occurrence of any of the following:  (i) the potential winner fails to confirm acceptance of the prize and eligibility within five (5) days of notification, (ii) the potential winner fails to return any required documents within seven (7) days of receiving such documents from Sponsor, (iii) the return of a prize or prize notification to Sponsor as non-deliverable; or (iv) the determination by Sponsor that winner is ineligible or otherwise not in compliance with these Official Rules. An hour or two before bed, I take a big hot bath with a couple of drops of lavender essential oil. The combination of the calming water and the relaxing fragrance of lavender helps me to dose off quickly by the time I'm ready for bed. My muscles loosen up, my mind relaxes, and I feel serene. I am attached to a couple of medical devices at all times, so I can never really sleep in my ideal positions because it hurts a bit to lie on them. So, my trick to fall asleep in any position is to pretend that my breath is —starting with my toes— slowly filling me up with something heavy like sand or water. I always use a blue light filter or avoid screens at least an hour or two before bed. I also love taking a shower with a relaxing soap and scents before. All I need is white noise then to sleep!

My number one tip is to just keep a routine, whatever that may be! By having a steady nighttime ritual, i find I consistently prioritize sleep.

Personally, I sleep best when I start to wind down about an hour before I want to fall asleep, by doing my PM skincare routine, using a rollerball with some essential oils (usually a lavender mix) behind my ears, and making sure the lights are dimmer than usual while doing so. Using a sleep mask (the ones that cover your eyes) has been SO helpful to maintain consistent light/darkness throughout the year when the sun is coming up at different times.

No TV in the bedroom, and make it really dark with light blocking shades to keep stimuli to a minimum. Also wash your face with a good gentle cleanser & moisturizer before going to bed so you feel clean and wake up with glowing skin. I like It Cosmetics Confidence in a Cleanser.

My best sleep advice is no screens within an hour before bed. On busy nights make it a half hour, just anything to disconnect your brain from that stimuli and wind down. No TV, no phone, no computers/tablets etc. I like to use that hour of time to take a hot shower and do a mask while drinking a cup of hot tea and doing a crossword book. I lay flat on my bed, hands at my sides relaxed facing up and my feet completely relaxed and breathe deeply, focusing only on my breath. I sleep my best if I work out 30-45 minutes about two hours before bed, wash up, and then use Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury  Face Oil 1 oz/ 30 mLor GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask. I go to bed feeling healthier and refreshed; I wake up with soft skin. If I had a particularly rough day, I throw in eye gels for a while before using the oil/mask. Own a cat - or, in my case, two, lol!

I’m not an instant sleeper and when I can’t sleep, I’ll putz on my phone. My cats on the other hand have noooo trouble sleeping, ha! The very moment that I crawl into bed: They’re there! They’ll instantly find a path to my arms or pillow, invading all of my personal space, ha! And, I love it! They remind me to put my phone away, to get comfy and to rest. Their purrs, warmth and furry cuddles makes it soooo easy!

Second tip: For a more sound sleep, keep the bedroom temperature cool if you can.

Lastly, I always keep a BKR bottle full of water, by the bed, to hydrate when I wake up. 🙂

I've been playing with scents lately, spritzing my pillow before lying down. I've been using perfume samples I liked but that didn't wear well on my skin, but I recently got a sample of This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray too. I stay up until I feel very, very tired, and then put Bite Agave Lip Mask on my lips and go to bed. If I am not really tired yet, I read until I fall asleep. The room is cool, dark, quiet.

My cats are purring or sleeping. Sleep follows.

As last step of my evening skincare routine, I love a good sleeping mask. My most favorite is the glamglow thirstymud. I use a good layer and leave it on through the night. My skin feels amazing and hydrated. It also smells good. Makes it easy to fall asleep. I also use laneige lip mask... And I have a toddler at home who keeps me so busy that usually I don't have any problem falling asleep, I have more troubles staying awake 😉
