skincare rookie looking for a regimen

Hi Gals,

I was hoping to get some opinions on favorite skincare regimens.  I've been doing the minimum (cheap face wash and moisturizer) for the past few years but figured it was time to upgrade.  Being a total newbie, though, I could really use your guys' help!  I have super dry skin and very few breakouts so I'm looking for something that's hydrating and good for everyday use.  Although I'm only 22, I'd also like recommendations for good anti-aging products -- I've been told it's never too early to prevent wrinkles! 🙂  Any suggestions for cleanser, moisturizer, SPF, night cream, eye cream, etc. would be awesome.

Thanks!

I have been using Philosophy "Hope in a Jar" for probably 5 years (I am 28). It's a great daily moisturizer, and you can but it with spf. It also is available for dry skin. My mom, my dad, my boyfriend and I all use it. Everyone I turn it onto loves it!

Hey girl! Your skin sounds exactly like mine, and I'm also 22! I use a mixture of different brands and products: Korres White Tea Gel Cleanser and Ole Henriksen Red Tea Foaming Cleanser are both mild yet refreshing. During the day Youth Surge SPF 15 Age Decelerating Moisturizer for Dry Combination Skin and Bliss Fabulous Face Lotion  are both great bc they have SPF in them and at night try a rich night cream like Rexaline Hydra-Dose Hyper Hydrating Anti Wrinkle Rich Cream for Dry or Weakened Skin

or Origins Night-a-Mins.  My facialist (sp?) recently told me about Hyaluronic Acid and how amazing it is.  Check out a serum with Hyaluronic Acid, L'Occitane Fabulous Serum is smooth and helps anti-aging and boosting radiance.  If you want to really splurge Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum is, in my opinion, the BEST serum Sephora has.  An eye cream is crucial, right now I'm loving Icelandic Relief Eye Cream with Biospheric Complex. You should try some samples of a few things before picking out what you want since they can be a little pricey.  Hope this helps!

I think it's great that you are wanting to take care of your skin at an early age--I wish I had started that early!  You really just need to keep it very basic and use a good cleanser and a good moisturizer with an SPF that can double as your eye cream.

A very good organic cleanser that is non-drying is Caudalie's Instant Foaming Cleanser which you can find at:  http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P12978&categoryId=B70

A great moisturizer that you can use on your face and underneath your eyes is Murad's Essential-C Day Moisture SPF 30.  It is a powerful, antioxidant-rich sunscreen that shields and restores environmentally stressed skin.  It blocks UVA and UVB rays while preventing free-radical damage and moisturizing your skin at the same time.  You can find it at:  http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P9940&categoryId=B70

If you want to use a different product for night, I'd recommend using the Murad Essential-C Night Moisture which is an antioxidant-rich moisturizer that rejuvenates and restores environmentally stressed skin by encouraging cell turnover and neutralizing daily toxins while you sleep.  You can find it at:  http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P9938&categoryId=B70

My Dermatologist told me that less products is best because half of her patients come to see her due to problems related to product overload.  So the three above products are plenty to keep your skin young and healthy without overloading it.

I hope this helps you. 🙂
