skin care routine

Hey guys!

I have just recently started a skin care routine and was wondering how i can improve it and some products i can add on my wish list for christmas.

for the morning;

  • wash face with water,
  • use burts bee rose water toner,
  • than vichy moisturizer.

and for the night;

  • use sephora green tea exfoliate wipes,
  • foaming cleaner,
  • burts bee rose water toner,
  • coconut oil serum,
  • burt bees night cream.

I would love any suggestions to make my skin routine next level.

RE: skin care routine

If you are dry I strongly suggest switching toners. I'm a dry skin type and have tried the Burt's Bees rosewater, unfortunately it is an astringent toner with an extremely high alcohol content--helpful for oily skin but not suitable for dry skin as these kinds are very stripping. There are toners that are specifically moisturizing and prepping, a lot of them Korean (like Son & Park Beauty Water), but some brands like Boscia and Caudalie have them as well (though I haven't tried them). I'm currently using the alcohol-free Thayers witch hazel toner, way more affordable but just okay.

Hi @kaylashaye123!

Congrats on your current skincare routine and on wanting to improve upon it.  Based on your dry skin that is acne prone I would suggest the following:

AM

1. Gentle cleanser - Cetaphil Facial Cleanser or La Roche Posay also has a good one for sensitive and dry skin.

2.  Continue using the rose water toner

3. Not sure which vichy moisturizer you're using but if you feel that this may be contributing to break outs, I would suggest trying a new one.  If you're looking for drugstore affordable, you can look into Eucerin.

4.  I would suggest using a separate SPF or a moisturizer with SPF.  This is the most  common suggestion any dermatologist will suggest if you're looking at reducing skin aging effects in the long run.

PM

If you use makeup (of any kind) I would recommend:

1. Use 100% jojoba oil is non-comedogenic - I use it).

2. Continue using rose water toner.

3. Eliminate the coconut oil serum - for some coconut oil may cause breakouts.  Instead use 2-3 drops of jojoba oil and mix it with 1 drop of 100% tea tree.  This mixture will help with acne/breakouts.

4.  Your night cream if you feel like you still need it.

When making any changes to your skincare routine, it's best not to change too many things at once in case a new product you introduce doesn't agree with your skin.   This way by changing 1 thing at a time and using it for about 1 week  before you make any additional changes, you will know for sure if your skin is going to like it.  You can of course stop using the product immediately if you notice you breakout or something.

Here's a link to my skincare routine where I explain further also how I use the tea tree oil.

I hope you find this helpful!

Re: skin care routine

Maybe think of throwing some masks into the mix.  A good starter (albeit kind of expensive) is fresh rose face mask. It's cooling and soothing, hydrates and won't break you out.  Also good is the farmacy honey potion.  A hydrating honey cream that warms a bit as you massage it in.

Re: skin care routine

my skin is fairly dry. I have a few acne spots and break outs. and dark spots around my eyes and mouth.
