product recommendations for dry skin during accutane

hi everyone, I'm set to start accutane (istrotenion) in exactly a month. I heard a lot about the dryness that comes with it so I'm trying to be prepared. I need hydrating lip products, cleanser, & good moisturizer recommendations that don't leave me peeling or with dry spots. I currently use tata harpers clarifying moisturizer and I love it because it's moisturizing and doesn't make me break out more but I go through it in a month so I need something more affordable since I can't afford to spend 110 a month currently. My skin type is combination but in winter I'm really dry. if I don't moisturize I literally peel. Thank you!

It's been a while since I've been on Accutane, but I do remember how bad my lips were. I'd recommend picking up Dr. Dan's CortiBalm. It's the only thing that saved my severely chapped lips. Plus, this lip balm is what my derm recommended at the time.

Hopefully, more people will chime in with moisturizer suggestions. Asking your dermatologist for product recommendations would be a good idea, too.

I'd also recommend using the search bar at the top of the homepage. This forum has been around for a while and I guarantee you that this type of question has been asked before. You'll probably find a lot of good product suggestions in existing threads.

@Anonymous I recommend jumping on YouTube and watching Thattayla. She is currently on acutane and always talks about products that help counteract all the drying. She’s one of my favorite reviewers even though our skin type and tone are completely opposite. Lol.

Good luck! I never used accutane but I’ve definitely experienced extreme dryness due to acne products. I can give you a few recommendations of things that have worked for me. Cleanser- plain old Cetaphil. Gets the job done, simple, odor free, removed makeup and doesn’t dry skin out. Moisturizer- Farmacy does a honey moisturizer that is SO hydrating. I keep it for extreme dryness only. And you can also use it on lips!! Moisturizer- peter Thomas roth ultra light oil free moisture. Not as greasy as Farmacy. Works great for normal levels of dryness and it’s so light and doesn’t leave any kind of residue. It’s also odorless and very neutral.
