Water Challenge

Water, Water, Waterr!! Ladies lets be honest a good skin care routine is key, BUT water is major key to healthy looking skin.  Your water intake is very important, for one its just overall good for you.  So challenge yourself to see how much water you can drink each day, follow me and we can track the winner.  Get yourself a big bottle from wherever and fill it up at the beginning of each day, and calculate your ounces.  You should be drinking at least half your body weight.  Who's in???Photo on 9-21-17 at 3.26 PM.jpg

Re: Water Challenge

Hi @Casey0221! Water intake is very critical for overall good health, however, just like everything else in life, too much or too little of anything is not healthy.

Your calculation for adequate water intake has been debunked, because it is assuming you have normal kidney function and are fairly sedentary. However, depending on a number of factors (like how many water-dense foods you eat or medications you are on for example) you may actually overdose on water. You may have heard of a condition called hyponatremia, which occurs when you oversaturate the solutes in your blood; it is a potentially fatal condition you can induce from drinking too much water in too short a time span.

However, if you’re very physically active or are active outdoors and sweat a lot, then you would not be drinking enough water by following that formula and may experience some dehydration.

A more individualized way to evaluate if you’re drinking enough water for your particular health needs is to check the color of your urine; if your urine is fairly clear (at most the color of straw), you’re likely well-hydrated. If your urine is dark in color or smells very pungent (and it’s not due to diet or medications), then you’re likely under-hydrated. Hope this helps you and everyone else stay healthy! Be well!
