Hi! Can someone please help me figure out what the heck happened to my skin. yesterday I woke up with red, itchy, irritated and bumpy skin. I haven’t changed anything in my routine in a long time and I try to keep it pretty minimal. The only thing I can think of is over exfoliation, from switching between salicylic acid and a retinol but I’ve been following the same cycle schedule with the same products for at least a year. I’m going to attach photos from today and yesterday when it first started. Thanks!

Re: Tiny fluid filled bumps all over face and neck

@zoefaith  Ouhhh that looks like hives’s.  Is it painful?  With exfoliation your skin barrier could be damaged.  When you skin barrier isn’t functioning at its best pollen or allergens that wouldn’t normally irritate you can cause a reaction like this.  Did you end up trying an antihistamine to bring the inflammation down?   If an antihistamine didn’t work it may be bacterial or fungal and may warrant a trip to your dermatologist.
For the time being I would baby your skin.  Don’t use exfoliants on raw skin.   Gently wash and pt dry and ensure you change your pillowcase and wash laundry with an extra rinse to remove any fragrance from laundry soap.

No new laundry detergents? or foods?

Oh no @zoefaith! That doesn’t look pleasant. It could either be an allergic reaction to something, a skin condition, or an infection. Allergic reactions can be dealt with using an OTC antihistamines or allergy meds but anything else would require a doctor. Have the symptoms gone down since first started breaking out? I hope you find relief soon!

Re: Tiny fluid filled bumps all over face and neck

Hi! Thank you for your response, a lot of the redness has gone away but there are still a million bumps. My skin feels very dry itchy and tight before I put on my moisturizer and it appears that some of the bumps are turning into little whiteheads as well.

Re: Tiny fluid filled bumps all over face and neck

Hi @zoefaith. Definitely baby your skin and dial back your skincare to the minimum it can tolerate. I would say try to see your doctor if you can to rule out an infection. Hopefully, it’s nothing serious and you’re feeling like yourself again.

Also, a quick tip, Use @ to tag someone when replying. Unfortunately, it doesn’t automatically let others know when you’ve replied and they might miss out on your response. Tagging them is the best workaround that we have.
