Thinking of returning my Clarisonic... Thoughts?

Is the Clarisonic terrible? No. Absolutely not. In fact, I do enjoy using it. Did it make me break out? No. Did it take away the dry skin that I wanted gone? Yes. (However, so did my light exfoliator scrub before that.) Did it make me feel smooth? Yes! Is it fun? Absolutely.

 

BUT...

 

A week ago I had to exchange my Clarisonic due to the body brush stopping mid cycle, wether it was low in charge or charged. The girls at Sephora were great, got it exchanged, no problems! (I truly love Sephore, all the super nice and helpful workers, and the customer service!! :] )

Yet, it's still doing it. I charged it for 24 hours before using it first. I don't drop it. I keep it clean. But the body brush just doesn't seem to like me.

Now I know, easy fix, just charge it all the time. Fine. Doesn't seem hard... but for $200? Yeah, no.

 

The biggest reason I think I am going to return is because I noticed fine red lines that upon searching are called Capilliers? I've NEVER had these pop up, and now from reading I understand only lasor surgery can treat them? What?

I didn't press down with the Clarisonic, barely feeling a tickle.

 

I'm really at a hard place, because I want to love it, but I am afraid to cause permanent damage. I have very sensitive skin, this also being proven by the array of cleaning  products that I have bought and returned.

 

Anyone else have any of the same or comparable experiences with the Clarisonic?

I think you should return the Clarisonic.

 

I use one on my face, and I really like it. I've noticed improvement in my skin texture, and none of side effects that should concern one.

 

However, if you're noticing Capilliers developing, this is definitely the #1 sign that you should return the Clarisonic.Regardless of how gently you're using it, or how gentle your brush is, your skin and veins obviouslly really really dislike the agitation of the Clarisonic, and I don't think you can expect your skin to just get used to it. And if, on top of that, the batteries are giving you (and apparently others too, for htis model!) a really hard time, it seems like an easy choice: return it, and stick to something much gentle for your skin.

 

Best of luck! and perhaps you can try topical witch hazel on the capilliers?

The Clarisonic was used on me one time at a spa (had a facial done) and it literally ripped my skin up. The esthetician couldnt even put on the most mild lotion because it was way to harsh for my skin after getting scrubbed so hard. I think everyones skin is different & maybe someone's skin could tolerate that kind of abrasion, but for me- No thanks.

I think the esthetician used the wrong brush head or pushed to hard because the Clarisonic isn't supposed to exfoliate or scrub, it's just meant to brush the skin and the vibration of it pulls up all the dirt and oil trapped in your skin. It sounds horrible what happened though.

Hehe, this was a while ago. I am happy to report I did return it, and my face calmed down. I did go to the derm and she said I have great skin and a clarisonic would be awesome for me (Before I mentioned I had tried one.) It made me chuckle and re-consider for a minute. But eh, a wash cloth for now seems to suit me just fine! :]

The delicate blood vessels near the surface of your skin (capillaries) dilate and burst. This is also known as "spider veins"or "varicose veins".  This can happen anywhere on the skin surface, but on the face, the biggest culprit is from injuring the skin.  This is often from scrubbing or exfoliating too aggressively, chemical peels or over stimulating the blood flow, which can dilate the blood vessels and cause them to burst.  It is VERY rare that the blood gets reabsorbed by the body.  Laser treatment is the only way to truly get rid of the blood from broken capillaries.  

 

I've tried using the Clarisonic in the past with the Delicate brush. I unfortunately, ended up with broken capillaries on my face. I have very sensitive skin as well and it turns out that there was even some micro damage that you really couldn't see too. Let me re-emphasize, you cannot get rid of visible broken capillaries unless you get laser treatment. (Which I've had done). 

 

For those with great success with the Clarisonic, please keep in mind that everyone's skin is different and the walls of the veins vary by individual.  For those intrepid people who still want to try the Clarisonic, the Mia 2 and up have a lower setting on it and the Luxe brushes are supposed to be softer than the delicate brush heads.  

 

I don't know if this will help anyone, but I would love to hear if anyone has experienced any broken capillaries using the Luxe brushes.

Did you get the Clarisonic Plus set with a pink Clarisonic device and back brush handle and polka dot bag?

 

I got two of those sets for my mom and I. We both had problems with the body setting, as well. Our devices would stop working on the body setting after only using on our faces/bodies for 7-8 minutes. The devices should stay charged between 20-30 minutes. The Clarisonic CS rep said that we could fix the problem by leaving our devices charging for 24 hours a day. Um, no. I had to return both. :/

I've had two Clarisonic Plus models.  The first began stopping within one minute after beginning the facial cleansing process.  I was provided a replacement which lasted on a few months before it began the same problem.  I was in the middle of retiring and moving and failed to return it in the warranty window.

 

I don't feel you should pay this much for a facial cleansing product to run into these issues.  I was told that they do not refurbish products, so replacements are new products.  There must be some defect that causes this issue. I plan to purchase another, but will definitely stay on top of this one.
