Skincare Routine of the Day

This is a place to share your skincare routine of the day!  Whether it be daytime routine or nighttime routine, I know you have one.  From simple to complex, expensive to inexpensive products: show and tell! If you are anything like me, your skincare routine changes daily. Skincare isn't as showy as makeup, but it is the quiet work horse of our daily lives. 20200118_005115.jpg

You might want to include with your post: your skin type, skin concerns (& the weather where you are).

Sometimes if all you can do is your skincare, that is enough.

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

Glad to hear Herbivore Bakuchiol is working well for you @faeriegirl. I’m thinking about incorporating it into my routine this week or next.

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

Yesterday. Skin: normal.

Daytime, I started with:

CLINIQUE Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm 3.8 oz/ 125 mL because I fell asleep in my makeup! 😯

and then:

AMOREPACIFIC Treatment Enzyme Peeling Masque because I missed my Friday exfoliation. I love this and every time I use it I'm impressed! My skin felt sooo smooth ❤ it is gentle yet incredibly effective.  I have been using peel pads or serums lately for my exfoliating, but this is a noticeable difference that I notice more than the serums or peel pads (honeymoon glow, DE Frambois, Sephora peel pads).  The Amorepacific peel powder comes close!  Anyone have an AMOREPACIFIC Treatment Enzyme Peeling Masque dupe?

Folowed by:

SK-II Facial Treatment Essence (Pitera Essence) 5.4 oz/ 160 mL

SK-II Facial Treatment Clear Lotion Toner 5.4 oz

The Ordinary "Buffet" 1 oz/ 30 mLbuffet

SK-II R.N.A. POWER Anti-Aging Face Cream

The evening I was so tired so I didn't face mask, however I used these products:SK-II essence in the bottleSK-II essence in the bottle

I'm really enjoying the Algenist GENIUS Collagen Calming Relief from the Sephora gratis as it is quite moisturizing (I used it around my eyes as well), and when I wake up my skin is calm and feels very moisturized, without leaving a greasy feel in the morning.

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

The Algenist seems like a lovely product, @l8totheparty. I’ve only tried a couple of their products but they have both performed well.

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

Let us know if you find a dupe for the AP masque @l8totheparty.

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

Will do, @itsfi ! It is such a wonderful mask.

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

Last night I was VERY sleepy, thanks to an unintentional all-nighter and exacerbated by a full day of walking and shopping around town. By the time I got home, I was ready to crash hard. Didn’t think I’d get my PM routine done beyond maybe a face wipe and moisturizer. So I’m shocked I managed to do all this to my face last night!
Pretty sure I sleepwalked through some of this routine. :DPretty sure I sleepwalked through some of this routine. 😄
Makeup removal: Paula’s Choice Gentle Touch Makeup Remover.
Wash: Paula’s Choice Hydralight Cleanser.
Tone/essence: e.l.f. Hydrating Water Essence.
Lip care: Sephora Dragonfruit lip scrub, which I’d never tried before. I already have the honey version but my lips hate it, so I’m trying the dragonfruit and kiwi versions. I bought the honey one sometime last year because I wanted a scrub in stick form for travel purposes. The dragonfruit one works much better for me: it doesn’t dry my lips out. 🙂 I did still apply Aquaphor later (after rinsing off a mask) and topped it at the end of this routine with Tatcha Kissu lip mask.
Exfoliant: Paula’s Choice Clear Anti-Redness Exfoliating Solution, applied only to my jawline. I also used it on my neck for good measure.
Mask: Sephora Collection Spirulina Mask Stick. I’d never tried any of these mask sticks before. Wasn’t going to bother with a mask at all last night (too sleepy) until I realized this one would only take 5 minutes. I didn’t account for needing to rinse it all off over the sink, and the fragrance was kind of annoying. 😄 But hey, I managed to get a mask in last night!
Serums: DDG Ferulic + Retinol Eye Serum under my eyes, followed by NIOD Fractionated Eye Contour Concentrate all around my orbital bone. I’ll also count CosRx Advanced Snail 96 essence here as a post-mask essence/serum, followed by YTTP Adaptogen Mist for pre-moisturizer hydration. I’m slowly getting used to the slime juice!
Moisturizer: Herbivore Emerald CBD Oil, followed by YTTP Superfood Moisturizer.

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

@WinglessOne  I just got the cosrx as well. It’s taking me time to get use to it. But I think it makes my face feel good!!

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

@ather  I’m still not up to using it daily, but the slime gets easier to deal with after each use. 😄 I’m glad your skin likes it!

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

@WinglessOne  You are right. If it was less slimy I would be able to use it more easily.

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

That Herbivore Emerald oil is so nice @WinglessOne! 💚 It does an amazing job of calming redness and hydrating my skin.

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

@itsfi  The Emerald CBD Oil has been my favorite since I started using it last October. It definitely helps my inflammation issues. 💚

In either early 2019 or late 2018, I received a bottle of the non-CBD Herbivore Emerald Hemp Seed Deep Moisture Glow Oil as gratis from Sephora. Back then, Herbivore listed a mysterious “proprietary blend of pure essential oils” on the ingredients list. Since I didn’t know which essential oils were included, I quit using that product on my face after a couple weeks, I think; it became a body oil, which is how I’ve used it ever since. I see Herbivore has now removed that “proprietary blend” silliness from this product’s ingredients and replaced it with helichrysum (aka immortelle) essential oil. If that’s all the “proprietary” stuff was, I don’t know why they were so opaque about it in the first place... but it makes me wonder if Herbivore quietly reformulated this oil. Hmm. I still won’t be using my “proprietary blend” version on my face. 😄 It’s not as good (for me) as the CBD version anyway.

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

@WinglessOne, that's very interesting about Herbivore and the "proprietary blend"; makes me wonder if they were looking to patent their formulation and didn't want to identify the oils in their blend and/or if it was a marketing strategy. Have you tried any of the other CBD-based face oils that Sephora carries?

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

@itsfi  The only other one I’ve tried that Sephora sells is Lord Jones Royal Oil 1000mg Pure CBD Oil: I took advantage of last month’s DS promo. Before getting the DS, I’d smelled a full size bottle and it was suuuuper skunky. 🤢 So I was shocked by the DS’s lack of scent. I think there’s too much grapeseed oil in the DS. (Lord Jones contains only CBD oil and grapeseed oil.) It’s too thick for my skin, especially my oily zone—my nose and the area immediately around it—and that’s a bummer because that’s where some of my redness is. Lord Jones did calm some redness, but it also made my oily zone very greasy.

The first night I used Lord Jones on my face, I fell asleep in record time: just 7 or 8 minutes, compared to the hour it normally takes. That stuff completely relaxed every muscle in my face. 😄 The second night I tried it, my anxiety brain was unfortunately too spun up for Lord Jones’s relaxing effect to overcome. Oh well.

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

@WinglessOne! so impressive (I've definitely sleepwalked through a few nighttime routines, lol). Thanks for the info on the sephora lip scrubs, they've been discussed a few times on here and I think I need to check them out once my current ones are done (or for travel).

Also, slime juice! That description! 🤣🐌

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

@haleyvvvv  If you try one of the Sephora lip scrubs, I hope you like it! I always feel kinda bad about saying “my skin hates this [honey product]” because honey is something that works wonders for so many other people. I always feel obligated to remind folks that something might be terrible for my particular skin but wonderful for their skin. “Your mileage may vary” sounds cliche, but it’s true. 🙂

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

@WinglessOne YMMV is so true, though! It's all about finding what works best for one's skin. I always read people's reviews as this is what works (or doesn't) for that person at that specific time. It's so kind of you to always remind people, it something we should all keep in mind.

PM routine: winter-spring edition PM.jpg

Skin Type: dehydrated-combo leaning dry
Current Skin Concerns: I'm dealing with some dry patches (mainly around my eyes and nose) from the wind and allergies, and oily chin/jawline area; overall dehydration and a couple of pimples and PIH from old ones. Just livin' the dream here, folks! 😐
Weather: the only thing consistent with the weather is that it's been windy and that seems like it will hold true for at least the next week, maybe two. There's also rain in the forecast so if anything it'll mean continued or increased attention to my skin's dehydration and dryness needs.
