Skincare Routine of the Day

This is a place to share your skincare routine of the day!  Whether it be daytime routine or nighttime routine, I know you have one.  From simple to complex, expensive to inexpensive products: show and tell! If you are anything like me, your skincare routine changes daily. Skincare isn't as showy as makeup, but it is the quiet work horse of our daily lives. 20200118_005115.jpg

You might want to include with your post: your skin type, skin concerns (& the weather where you are).

Sometimes if all you can do is your skincare, that is enough.

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

Ooooh... SK-II @l8totheparty I recently read somewhere about couple of celebrities who swear by it. I do not want to fall in love with that thing as it’s so expensive 😀

have you noticed specific difference just from the essence?

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

I will let you know the further into my bottle I get. @naturalooks15

Oooh, the SK-II essence is so nice @l8totheparty

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

I love the Shiseido Benefiance line! Is that the eye cream? Did you star that @l8totheparty?

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

Yes! I love how moisturizing it is in the winter. I swear I wake up and my undereyes feel super hydrated and moisturized.  @haleyvvvv

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

That's how my face feels after the night cream!! @l8totheparty

*adds that to the list of products to try*

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

I’ve been pretty consistent with my skincare recently so not much changes night to night save for a peel every second night and a different mask everyday. EC8F5E22-36D1-4120-BCFF-47204C60C2E6.jpeg

Great products!! @heartsmyface

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

Do you use the Resurfacing liquid and the exfoliating wash in the same routine? Is the fresh a gentle manual exfoliation?

How do you find the glow retinol lotion? Does it take some getting used to?

@heartsmyface

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

@l8totheparty  I use it all in the order it’s lined up. The exfoliating wash isn’t harsh at all.  The sugar crystals aren’t sharp and dissolve as you scrub so you can’t really over exfoliate with it.  The resurfacing liquid is really quite gentle as well. I get the odd prickle sensation around my nose but normally feel nothing.    I use them all together every day.
The retinol lotion is nice.  It has no real definitive scent.  I had no adjustment period because I’ve been using retinol for a few years already.  If you’re new to retinol use it sparingly.  I use maybe half a pea sized amount under each eye.    I haven’t seen any obvious results from it probably for the  same reason I’m already adjusted to retinol.  For now its all maintenance.  I don’t know if it came with a spatula or if I accidentally threw it out but I have to use an old concealer brush to get the product out of the jar.  It’s a non-complaint but the only one I have.

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

Thanks, @heartsmyface ! 😊

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

@heartsmyface, that Wild Honeybear mask sounds like it would be very nourishing (and smell deliciously of honey).

I’m intrigued by that jar at the end (next to the Glow Recipe) - what is it and how do you like it? 👀

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

@itsfi @It’s Sonbahyu 100 pure horse oil.  It’s extremely nourishing and creates a beautiful skin barrier.  Really good for raw or compromised skin .  the linolenic acid (vitmain f) in it is anti inflammatory and moisturizing- perfect for after peels.   You can use it in you hair too but I use it as a face mask at night and have been loving how moist my skin is in the morning. My skin is normal to dry so I like oil to try to fake having oily skin.  People with oily skin seem to have wrinkle free skin longer than people with dry skin so why not oil up😁

I keep mentioning horse oil to people in the masking thread and this is what I’m referring to.  I haven’t seen anyone take my recommendation but I suppose horse oil sounds gross.

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

@heartsmyface  Horse Oil! The last time my dad came back from Japan, he brought back tubs of horse oil cream for my mum, I guess it's the secret to eternally youthful skin! I haven't seen it ever state-side, I'm guessing there would need to be a major marketing play for horse anything 🙂 But I love it for my pre and post-winter outdoor run, never thought of using it as a nighttime mask! Will have to try that next 🙂

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

@MissPuff   Your dad is such a sweetheart!! Had I known I’d love it so much I would have bought three jars to last the year, but I did see it on Amazon at a premium so when I run out I’m not completely out of luck.
I’ll have to remember to use it before skiing! Thanks for the preworkout tip!

Re: Skincare Routine of the Day

@heartsmyface, I’ve only seen horse oil in the stores in mask form, but it makes sense that there would be other formats. I can definitely see how it would be nourishing; my skin feels moisturized, hydrated, soft and smooth after using a horse oil face mask. I think I’ll reach for one of my horse oil sheet masks in the next couple of weeks and use the excess serum for my hair.

What’s the consistency like? Is it thin and runny like a watery essence? More like an emulsion? Or thicker like an ampoule?
