Reccommendations?

I am in my early teens, and really struggle to find skincare and makeup that I don't react to... I have EXTREMELY sensitive skin, and nothing seems to work. I'm not sure if the "preppy" aesthetic is still a big trend, but I am more of a clean girl aesthetic if that helps! Any advice or reccommendations is appreciated! 🙂

I’m a clean girl and preppy

I’m an eight-year-old and I use a lot of skin care

Re: Reccommendations?

@bloopkitten  When you say “nothing seems to work,” do you mean everything irritates your skin, or is there something specific you want skincare products to do for your skin (besides not tick it off)?

Since you’re in your early teens with super sensitive skin, you’re probably better off with a very simple skincare routine:

  1. Gentle cleanser - Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser is a good basic option. CeraVe and Cetaphil also make good gentle cleansers. e.l.f. Pure Skin Cleanser is a good non-lathering cleanser that plays nice with my skin when it’s in angry reactive mode (this cleanser contains soothing colloidal oats). If you want to use a makeup remover first, consider Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water; that’s a nice gentle one.

  2. Moisturizer - Vanicream Moisturizing Lotion, or if you want something thicker/richer, Vanicream Moisturizing Cream. My daily moisturizer is CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion, but when my skin’s irritated, Vanicream’s lotion saves me. Since I mentioned e.l.f., you may wanna try their Pure Skin Moisturizer.

  3. Broad spectrum sunscreen that’s at least 30 SPF - your hyper sensitive skin might like a zinc oxide sunscreen. Native makes a good unscented one for face and another for body, and you can use the body one on your face. (The body version’s a larger tube and costs less per ounce than the face version.) If you have a local Trader Joe’s, I think they still sell a mineral sunscreen that’s not expensive.

The only reason to add anything to that routine is if you have a specific skin issue to treat. Otherwise, you don’t need toners, exfoliants, serums, etc. Besides, with very sensitive skin, the fewer products you throw at it, the better.

Re: Reccommendations?

@bloopkitten are you looking for something in particular? Skin sensitivity varies by person. If you have any food allergies, sometimes your skin can react to similar ingredients in skincare. Many people are sensitive to fragrance, including extracts and essential oils. You could these for a simple skincare routine and see how it goes.
