Problems with eye cream...

Has anybody experienced any problems with their eye cream? I ask this because for the past 3 weeks I've been using my first ever eye cream for prevention further down the road and it seems like it has been making my eye area look worse! I have puffiness with a slightly red ring around my orbital bone in the mornings when I apply at night. I don't apply more in the mornings because I'm afraid it will just get worse throughout my entire day. It only lasts a couple of hours every morning, but bothers me that a product is doing the opposite of that it should. I was pretty careful in my choices of picking an eye cream, I have a sensitive eye region and went with Boscia Enlivening Amino-AG Eye Treatment since I didn't want to risk the "burn" of retinol. Is this just a purge period or should I switch eye creams?

Nice! What are the main benefits of this particular eye cream that you notice?

Re: Problems with eye cream...

Sorry I didnt see that you responded!  I really like how smooth it goes on. It isnt too oily either. I have sensitive skin and this cream doesnt make me break out (some creams I will have little red bumps pop up just under my eyes). The ingredients are really pure too.

I like how aloe is the #1 ingredient! Thanks for sharing Smiley Happy

Re: Problems with eye cream...

100% Pure also runs some great deals! Every friday morning the deals change. Sometimes they have skin care sets on sale or makeup or body care.  I like the makeup deals Smiley Happy  I purchased a set of makeup retailed at around $130 for $75.  I couldnt pick the colors but I enjoy almost everything!  It is def a fun company. I like that they dont test on animals & are vegetarian.

Re: Problems with eye cream...

If it makes you look/feel worse, don't use it, switch it. I used to use Clinique All About Eyes, which was great but 6month later when I'm done with half jar, it starts to feel stuffy on my eyelid and just not good in general, so I switched. Sometimes it could be the other products you are using it with. I know my Caudalie eye&lip cream feels great normally, but it stings a bit when used over Algenist serum so I try not to use those 2 together. I know what you mean about sensitive, because I get dry flaky patches most often right above my lashline, where apparently you are NOT suppose to apply most eye cream, so the ones with "luminizing" properties (shimmer) usually irritate and some with active ingredients burns.

In addition to Boscia Enlivening (love this stuff), I've never had a problem with Origins Plantscription, Dior Hydralife, or Fresh Lotus if you'd like more options.

Re: Problems with eye cream...

Thanks! I don't use oils/serums at all because I tend to have oily skin in the warmer months, so I only use an eye cream around that area besides Clinique Dramatically Different Gel all over my face. I'm a fan of Boscia products (shoutout to their black mask!), the eye cream sadly didn't agree with my love for Boscia I guess.

Re: Problems with eye cream...

It sounds like you're having a mild, allergic reaction if you're waking up and your eye area is puffy or inflammed.

If you're not aware of any specific sensitivities or ingredients you're allergic to it's going to hard to narrow down what the exact cause it, perhaps the formula is a bit too stimulating or potent, even if it is from a gentle line made for sensitive skin.

You might into other brands that have gentle, mild formulas like Clinique's All About Eyes:

Origins A Perfect World Firming Moisture Treatment for Eyes:

Origins Eye Doctor:

Also, the placement of eye cream is crucial! Even the most gentle formula can cause ill effects if misused. I drew up a photo a while back to show the placement of eye creams to where they can still be effective, but not run the risk of stinging your eyes:

Three weeks is a good amount of time to gauge results and if the redness or puffiness hasn't gone down, you should consider a switch. You can always visit your doc or a skin care specialist to see what exactly may be causing that reaction, that way you can look out for ingredients to steer clear from.

Hope you find something that works!

Re: Problems with eye cream...

Great advice + drawing! I never thought I'd be allergic to anything, maybe I should take that into consideration as well.

Re: Problems with eye cream...

The eye area is super delicate and sensitive compared to the skin on the rest of the face because it's so thin. It's one of those "got to be careful" areas. Best of luck in finding a product, I know it can be tricky, but at least there are no shortage of options!
