Perioral Dermatitis

Dermatologist diagnosed me with perioral dermatitis for the first time and prescribed pills and cream. My face broke out shortly after the use of Fresh Coconut Lip Balm, which I thought I loved! Has anyone had any similar reaction using Fresh Coconut Lip Balm or suggestions with perioral dermatitis?

Perioral Dermatitis

I was diagnosed in august. I use chapstick or Shea Moisture Shea Butter lip balm. I'm on my second round of antibiotics.

RE: Perioral Dermatitis

My dermatologist had me on antibiotics and a moisturizer with sulfur. It cleared up in a little over a month. She told me to avoid fluoride, because it can trigger a reaction and cause it to break out again.

Perioral Dermatitis

I have seborrheic derm mostly on my face around my nose. About 20 years ago my scalp was covered and my 3 sons have the same issue. 1.BLUE bottle of Head n Shoulders shampoo for Seborrheic dermatitis, 98% clear. NOT dandruff shampoo. 2. Epsom salt lotion works great on my face, helps lift scales n still moisturizes nicely. I use some anti aging moisturizer, but am careful not to cake it on affected areas. Give these a shot... Everyones different but its working great for 4 of us here. Good luck

Re: Perioral Dermatitis

That lip balm has three acnegenic ingredients, one irritating ingredient, and fragrance. It’s possible that one or multiple of those bothered you. I have rosacea and sensitive skin, so I have to be pretty intense about my ingredient research! Unfortunately I don’t have any advice for your dermatitis, but I do recommend the website CosDNA if you want to research the safety of the ingredients in your products.

Re: Perioral Dermatitis

I realized that Tom Ford Foundation Stick was my specific trigger, but I don’t use it or that lip balm, now! 😬 Mortified!
