PORE PROBLEMS

Hi im emily im 13 and i have dry and oily skin. I have an oily t zone and one if my biggest insecurities is my large pores. I have big pores and whiteheads on my nose and pores are everywhere people come up to me and say you have big pores 😞 when i put makeup on it looks cakey i hate my skin so much. Do you guys have any recommendations for foundation, concealer and anything to make my pores smaller?

RE: PORE PROBLEMS

I’m older and have pore problems. In the morning after cleansing I use a water based moisturizer and follow it with a pore filling primer. A lightweight foundation works better for not accentuating the pores so look for a skin tint or a BB cream. I like the bye bye pores pressed powder to go over it. While this doesn’t erase my pores, it does make them less obvious. The most important thing you can do to help your pores, however, is your cleansing regime at the end of the day. Remove all makeup before using a face cleanser. A gentle exfoliation will help clear out gunk clogging the pores as well (Keyword GENTLE. Rubbing too hard will make it worst. Try a peel scrub). Follow with a toner designed for large pores too. You can also use a face mask a few times a week to help too. The best rule of thumb is the more you try to cover them the more obvious they are, so instead work to minimize and camouflage.

RE: PORE PROBLEMS

Thank you! I have tried face masks and they dont really do anything. I dont put on much makeup but i often clean my face with an elf brush and elf cleaner thingy and i use lush exfoliators.

RE: PORE PROBLEMS

Try a mask like the Sephora polishing mask which is designed to pull stuff out of pores: https://m.sephora.com/product/polishing-mask-P418361?icid2=:p418361:product (on sale for $11) As for exfoliating, lush might be too abrasive. Try an exfoliating peel gel. Boscia has one but it’s a little pricey.

Re: PORE PROBLEMS

@emmythemua Unfortunately, there is no way to totally get rid of pores and size can often be genetic. The best thing to do is keep them clean as keeping them clear of dirt can help them look smaller. Using a good face wash and making sure to remove all makeup at the end of the day, especially in the summer when you sweat, is really important! You may want to try the double cleanse method - use a balm to remove makeup and then a face wash.  Be gentle with your skin. Using very harsh exfoliaters can cause damage and make the issue worse!

A pore filling primer is also a great tool. You can pat this in just on the areas you have visible pores and it will help fill in pores and your foundation will lay more evenly on top. There are lots of great options at sephora and the drug store!
