PMD routines to share?!

Hey folks!

I just purchased the light blue PMD Pro and I'm so excited!! Does anyone have a PMD rountine that they'd like to share?? I purchased the TATCHA Violet-C Radiance Mask to use afterwards.

My skin is: acne since forever, occasional hormonal acne along the jaw, large pores, oily, & sun damage. I am getting a good control on it all with products and rountines, so I'm super eager for my PMD to arrive!!<3

Re: PMD routines to share?!

So I used my PMD for the first time last night and I had so much fun! But of course, even after watching their how-to video and others, I have a few questions:

1) I double cleansed my face in the shower beforehand and when I wiped my face with my toner sprayed on a cotton ball, it was BROWN. Now is it that I need a new, stronger cleanser or was that part of what the PMD scrubbed up?? I use Ursa Major face wash, I try to make my products all natural.

2) Could you use the body sized tips, on your face?

3) How do you know when it's time to change the exfoliating tip?

4) Has anyone used it on the tops of their hands?

5) I have the Pro with two speeds, when is the higher speed reccommeneded?

I have to keep reminding myself it's patience with the PMD and not, next day crazy results. I have noticed this morning that my face is softer and some red spots have diminished!!

Re: PMD routines to share?!

@Anniehox I've also been using the PMD for about a year and a half. I use it 1x/week and tend not to use other chemical exfoliants during the week if I'm going to PMD.

As to your questions:

1) I double cleansed my face in the shower beforehand and when I wiped my face with my toner sprayed on a cotton ball, it was BROWN. Now is it that I need a new, stronger cleanser or was that part of what the PMD scrubbed up?? I use Ursa Major face wash, I try to make my products all natural.

It could be, this is tough to say. I've not experienced this myself but if you did not previously have any sort of regular exfoliation routine, it could be that much dead skin was taken off. Usually it collects in the cone while the disc is spinning, though.

2) Could you use the body sized tips, on your face?

I wouldn't recommend it. I have tried it and because of their size they don't actually glide over the face as easily as the small one, which makes them near impossible to maneuver over any contours or around areas like nose, lips, etc.

3) How do you know when it's time to change the exfoliating tip?

You will feel if getting less effective once you've gotten used to the PMD; I typically change mine every 3-4 uses.

4) Has anyone used it on the tops of their hands?

I haven't.

5) I have the Pro with two speeds, when is the higher speed reccommeneded?

I wouldn't use the higher speed until you're very comfortable with the process at the regular speed.

Hope that helps!

RE: Re: PMD routines to share?!

@Mochapj thanks for the tips!! I was emailing with a PMD customer service rep because my kit didn't have an additional filter but she suggested to use the body filter on the face!

Re: PMD routines to share?!

@Anniehox I don't use any other physical exfoliants and do not use any acids or stronger products a day before, after or on the day I use PMD.

I use it once a week and love it.

-Start with single or double cleansing depending on if I  was wearing makeup on that day.

- Dry face and use PMD

- Rinse, pat dry, apply toner

- I use a hydrating or soothing mask right after that. Mostly Farmacy gel mask or a sheet mask, some times PTR cucumber mask or any hydrating cream mask.

- Apply a face oil and eye cream.

I don't use too many products on that night but resume my regular skincare routine next morning.

I hope it helps ! Feel free to ask if you have any questions and one of us will be happy to help 🙂

Re: PMD routines to share?!

@fatimamummy I def plan to load on the hydration afterwards. I was always scared to hydrate my face cuz of my acne, but an estethician told me to not be scared and it really does help!

Re: PMD routines to share?!

My approach is a lot lighter while using PMD.

Yea, mine came with products so I use the PMD face wash and then use the PMD toner.

Let your face dry and then start using.  One time I waited a while (got busy) and then started using PMD.  I notice that my skin has settled back into its combo state and the PMD didn't work too well since my face felt oily.  So, wash, dry, use.

I don't use any retinol products the day prior or after.  I also don't use any mask/products afterwards.  I did that once and my face turned blotchy. I resume normal skin care the day after. This is when I use a sheet mask.

This is important because with PMD you don't results right away.  Usually the next morning.

PMD is dermabrasion which cuts away the top layer of your skin.  It is excellent for brown spots, clogged pores, white/black head removal, refreshing dull skin.

I wouldn't use this on blemishes.  Blemished skin is fragile and you may cause further damaged/scarring.

Go slow the first few times so you know how you are going to react.  Only do 1 pass. Never do more than 2 passes.

Like I said, it doesn't look like it is doing anything.  Next morning you will either wake up totally glowy and refreshed or blotchy and red and even scabbed.

Just take it slow.    Love PMD!!!

Also, use your trusted products the day of and after using PMD.  Experimenting with new products and using PMD is not a good idea.

Re: PMD routines to share?!

Hi Anniehox,

I got my PMD last winter and I love it! When I initially got it, I was so impressed with the results that I couldn't wait every week to use it. I noticed that my breakouts decreased and my dark spots started fading much faster in conjunction with my night serum. I like to use my device at night so I can do face masks too, just like you have planned.

Here's my routine:

  1. Double cleanse (Wipe first then cleanser with water. Right now I'm using Origins Checks and Balances.)
  2. Let my face dry for about 5 minutes. This is just my personal thing. I like to really make sure my skin is dry before I use the PMD. I use this time to get my device set up.
  3. Use the PMD.
  4. Apply toner or a mask immediately. (I love the belif Problem Solution Toner.)
  5. Following my mask, I'll apply my usual nighttime skincare: eye serum, night serum and moisturizer plus an oil or sleeping mask if my skin needs it.

I hope you love your PMD and that you let us know later what you think!

All my best,

Megan

Re: PMD routines to share?!

@MeganBT  I'm so excited!! Looks like I'll be doing something quite similar to your routine! I have a question though, because of the suction of the PMD, is it not necessary to wash your face after use & before the mask? I was thinking of spraying my Bosica Rose toner on a pad and giving my face a few passes before the TATCHA mask.

The PMD is officially shipped, so that means I'll be refreshing the tracking number all day to stalk! haha

Re: PMD routines to share?!

Hi Anniehox,

I'm so excited for you to get it! It's integral after the treatment to remove the fine layer of dead skin cells prior to applying any skincare products. I found that my toner worked fine for this purpose and so I just do that before I apply my mask. I think applying the Rose Toner before the mask would work great! Give it a shot!

All my best,

Megan
