OIL BEFORE OR AFTER MOISTURIZER

I’ve always put my oils on right before my moisturizer but I’ve been reading that you should put your oils on last. What do you do? And is there an exception to the rule? For example, oils that have retinol or other active ingredients. Thanks!

Hi! I always apply facial oils before moisturizing. The ones that I use have additional properties, such as brightening, so I kind of use them as a serum. Other swear by applying after in order to hold in hydration. I just have always felt more hydrated doing it beforehand. Hope that helps!

I always put on my oils first! I want the oil to absorb into my skin, right after I wash my face. I feel like if you put on oil after your moisturizer, it might feel heavy. I think it's also a personal preference. Also, if the oil has active additional ingredients, I would recommend applying it before moisturizer. I apply my skincare products, thinnest (texture) to the thickest. I hope that this helps!

I tried it the other way one time and my primer and foundation was sliding off of my face!
