Welcome to the 2024 Masking Challenge!
This year is going to be a little different - simplified. Easy. Every month will have a new theme, and that's it. Feel free to join in whenever and wherever. Most importantly - have fun!
March Madness - Competition is in the air. Find a worthy dupe of a ๐ฐmask that is share-worthy? Or find a dupe that works even better than the original? Details, please!
January | Fresh Starts - Time for a re-set, or morning masking? However you see it, this month is all about new beginnings. |
February | Winter Love - Whether it's a mask you adore, or something extra-special to care for dry winter skin, this month is for some soothing TLC. |
March | March Madness - Competition is in the air! Find a $ dupe of a $$$ mask that is share-worthy? Or find a dupe that works even better than the original? Details, please! |
April | Spring Fling - Baskets and bouquets, showers of much-anticipated rain...this month's focus is herbal and floral sensory delights. |
May | Dew Drops - May Day lore says to wash your face in the dew you collect in the morning of the first day of May for radiant skin. This month is for absorbing all of that good-for-you H2O. |
June | Summer Sunshine - Ice cream, sunglasses, SPF, check! Once the sun is down (or before it's up), extra care is most necessary. How do you give your skin cooling repair? |

Thank you @Aaliaa for starting this thread, and giving us a place to share our love for masks๐
@Shosh85 @The bubble tea one yes. I've only ever tried the green tea version of the Cosmetea one which I enjoyed. Putting those on my list for once Iโve used up another 60 masks or so. Im finally down to three book bins of masks and donโt want to start a fourth one again.
@heartsmyface I also noticed the expiration dates are mighty close or just passed on a group of mine... going to use all those suckers yup
@Weetart I culled half the masks from my collection in an attempt to give them a chance to be used in time but am still falling behind. One of the hazards of wanting to try everything.
The illustrations on the masks are super cute, @heartsmyface. ๐ Keroppi!
@itsfi Yea!!!! Theyโre adorable and just like the hello kitty tea time one, the quality wasn't compromised for the print- which is rare.
@heartsmyface, that Hello Kitty Tea Time mask is a good one! โฅ๏ธ
@itsfi An end to a beloved mask. I have one tea time mask left and itโs a month expired as well. Itโll be my next masking session.
F is for fruit, the golden kiwi fruit to be exact, which, from my experience, is much sweeter than the more commonly known green kiwifruit
Mask: | The Saem Natural Feel Gold Kiwi Mask Sheet |
Material: | I read that this is a "3 layer microporous essence packet sheet" - huh? It was thin, felt soft. My best guess would have been cotton, possibly a thin-ish microfiber sheet |
Adherence: | Very good - even the sides of the mouth and eyes laid down well without need for adjustment; wore comfortably |
Fit: | Good width-wise, but extra long at chin and jawline (1-1/2" - 2" too long) |
Essence / Serum: | Clear, thin watery without being runny, but since there's so much of it, it does drip all over. |
Scent: | A very, very, very faint kiwi fruit scent, though unsure whether it's from the kiwi extract (5th ingredient listed) or added fragrance |
Ingredient Spotlight: | Golden kiwi (which is different from the regular kiwi fruit) |
Claim(s): | Ultra hydrating and replenishing |
Results: | Skin feels hydrated and looks brightened, but no more so than could be achieved with most other sheet masks. No irritation, tack or stickiness. |
Best Suited For: | Daily masking |
Repurchase?: | Probably not. It's one I'd use again if I had it in my mask library, but it's not one I would seek out. |
Well now I need to try a golden kiwi, @itsfi - it sounds delicious! The fabric intrigues me as well, although the description seems to be better than the actual experience.
@eshoe, hahaha! Yeah, it just felt like a cotton mask to me. ๐ Maybe I need to refine my appreciation a sheet mask's material?! lol. If you run across a golden kiwi, definitely give it a try. I do think it's sweeter tasting. ๐
I *think* I may have spied them at my local store, @itsfi, and I am going back for a second look thanks to Instacart ๐ WhichโฆI still cannot get over the fact that Sephora is now on that platform as well.
@eshoe, I had forgotten that Instacart and Sephora partnered up late last year. Instacart really did well during the shelter-in-place / stay-at-home.
@itsfi I like that it has golden kiwi, didn't even know there was such a thing ๐คฆ
@lmaster, I only learned about golden kiwi fruit a year or two ago and had never seen a sheet mask with it so I had to pick this one up when I saw it.
@itsfi Hmm, interesting description of the material- haven't heard that before. ๐ค Sounds like a decent filler mask ๐
@Shosh85, yeah, I'm not sure if it's actually a different kind of sheet mask material or if it's a marketing thing. I'm leaning towards the latter. Yep, definitely a filler mask.
I didn't even know there was a different type of kiwi; it sounds pretty good.
@elleb810, same here. I just learned about them a year or two ago. I have done a taste test (had to!) and the golden kiwi is sweeter than the regular green kiwi. ๐
@itsfi I haven't used this one. And as for the other question...uh lol I have like zero knowledge of material used for sheet masks. I should probably start paying attention.
@Samtian, ha! Iโll keep an eye out for when you use this one. Itโs not bad. The actual Golden kiwi fruit is the better of the two. ๐
@itsfi I'm not sure if I have this one, but I'll keep an eye out!
