Mask of the Week Misc. Info & Previous Year's Links:

To Post:

Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas.

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@itsfi Hope your tea was tasty! ๐Ÿ™‚ My favorite green tea variety is lung ching (dragonwell). That's actually my favorite of any type (green, black, oolong, etc.) of tea. I keep a big tin of loose leaf at the ready.

I should look at other tea masks in my stash. I have lots of green tea masks and some black tea masks, and many masks contain chamomile. But I wonder if I have masks that contain any other kinds of teaโ€”and how many masks use other tea types, anyway? I've seen a couple of white tea masks out there... don't think I've seen (or noticed) a rooibos mask, or an oolong mask. Great, yet another reason to shop! ๐Ÿคฃ

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

It was @WinglessOne! A cup of green tea is always nice! ๐Ÿต Excellent choice for a favorite green tee variety. Origins used to have a RitualTeas collection that included tea-based masks. They were powders inside a tin canister and youโ€™d scoop out some powder and mix in water and then apply. They had a few varieties, including one based on rooibos tea and another for oolong tea. I miss that collection; I think it was discontinued 2 or 3 years ago. I *think* they may also have had a rooibois tea mask for the body.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

Post-sun masking, for some soothing and Deep-Moisturizing:

I've been wanting to try the Huxley Secret of Sahara Healing Mask for awhile now, as the Anti-Gravity Cream is so good to my skin. This has the same fragrance, which is kind of grassy/herbal. The gel is quite soothing and includes ingredients like centella asiatica, prickly pear seed oil and HA. There is something in the gel that is a bit lumpy, and I believe that would be the citrus peel (guess this one's out for @WinglessOne!).

I've used this a handful of times, and it is different from other hydrating gel masks I've tried as it begins to dry after 15-20 minutes, leaving my face feeling slightly tightened. My skin does feel nice after using it, but the tightening isn't my favorite, especially coming from a hydrating mask. Still, it is pleasant enough and will be a great summer staple.

The Avarelle Herbal Infusion Cica Extract Sheet Mask is the second I've tried from the brand. The first was the Rosehip Seed Extract Mask, which I really enjoyed. This one was good, but not something I would repurchase. The scent - what you would expect from a cica mask, and it quickly dissipated once I wore it. The fit was ok, there was some snipping involved around the eyes but that was it. I left it on around 20 minutes and removed. Very minimal tack. The strange thing was that my skin appeared brighter; not what I would expect from a soothing mask! I think there are so many good cica masks out there that I wouldn't repurchase this, but I'm not mad I tried it ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@eshoe  Both of these sound pretty decent! The Huxley mask definitely sounds like a great summer mask - do you keep this one in the fridge?

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

No but Iโ€™ve thought about it, @Shosh85! Itโ€™s too big for my mini fridge, I did try๐Ÿ˜„ it seems like a masks that just needs to be chilled, though-I am going to do that for next time.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

The gel mask sounds interesting @eshoe you say you feel your skin is tightened,, do you think it's drying at all?

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

No, I donโ€™t think itโ€™s drying my skin, @lmaster. it doesnโ€™t feel that way once itโ€™s removed. I just find it unusual when gel or cream masks that arenโ€™t detox masks dry and tighten in the skin. I might be applying too thin of a layer, will note that for next time!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

Good to know! Thanks @eshoe

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

Now I gotta ask what your favorite cica mask is @eshoe or ones you would repurchase ๐Ÿ˜‰

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

I wish I had a list to go off of, @ShortErica ๐Ÿ˜ž however, most Cica masks I have tried have been good; this was probably the most ill-fitting of all. I am going to start using a physical journal to track my mask notes next month, for one year. Curious to see how that will pan out!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

The Huxley mask sounds nice, @eshoe. I've found that I need to rinse most wash off masks somewhere in the 10 to 15 minute time frame anyway, so the eventual drying probably wouldn't be too much of a deal breaker for me.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

If you donโ€™t mind fragrance either, @quspork @itโ€™s a nice mask to have on hand for when you donโ€™t want to have to think about masking/what youโ€™re putting on your skin. Enzyme and peels kind of stress me out, this kind of mask I can just forget about.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

W is for Watermelon ๐Ÿ‰

A'pieu Watermelon Icing Sweet Bar Sheet Mask

This is a super thin and transparent cotton sheet mask that was soaking with serum and had a yummy watermelon scent. It didn't smell like fresh watermelon, more like a sweet/candy type of scent - pretty comparable to the GR Watermelon Mask. It had a good fit - just a little big around the forehead and the mouth and eye holes were a little too small. I took it off after about a half hour. When I removed it there was still some slightly tacky serum on my face, but it absorbed fairly fast. My face looked less dull and slightly brighter, my skin felt soft and smooth and stayed hydrated for quite sometime. Even though I'd prefer the sodium hyaluronate to be higher up in the list, I really enjoyed it and would definitely repurchase! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ‰

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

I love the packaging on these masks @Shosh85! So refreshing and fun! There's a lot of great ingredients in this one, too! I've been really impressed with A'Pieu's mask line up. So happy this one is repurchase-worthy! ๐Ÿ‰โ™ฅ๏ธ

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@itsfi  I agree, both the packaging and the masks themselves are pretty great! There's not one mask from this line I don't like!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@Shosh85 this line is great! So glad you enjoy it too

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@lmaster  All the masks from this line really are great! Glad you think so too! ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

Who can pass up a yummy watermelon scented mask this time of year?? Glad you enjoyed it, @Shosh85๐Ÿค—

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@quspork  Right? Watermelon is good no matter what time of year, but seems especially refreshing in the summertime! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ˜‹

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

Oooooh this one sounds so refreshing, @Shosh85! I loved that GR sheet mask, too. I have this one on the way from Missha, it's the first order I've ever placed with them. Hoping it doesn't take too long as I'm pretty excited to try it now ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for the review!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@eshoe  I actually meant the Glow Recipe Watermelon Sleeping Mask.... i totally forgot about the sheet mask, but that works too! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I haven't placed an order with Missha yet but I plan on it eventually! I know @Weetart has ordered from them before, maybe she can give us some insight ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
