Welcome to the 2024 Masking Challenge!
This year is going to be a little different - simplified. Easy. Every month will have a new theme, and that's it. Feel free to join in whenever and wherever. Most importantly - have fun!
Spring Fling - Baskets and bouquets, showers of much-anticipated rain...this month's focus is herbal and floral sensory delights ๐ฎ
January | Fresh Starts - Time for a re-set, or morning masking? However you see it, this month is all about new beginnings. |
February | Winter Love - Whether it's a mask you adore, or something extra-special to care for dry winter skin, this month is for some soothing TLC. |
March | March Madness - Competition is in the air! Find a $ dupe of a $$$ mask that is share-worthy? Or find a dupe that works even better than the original? Details, please! |
April | Spring Fling - Baskets and bouquets, showers of much-anticipated rain...this month's focus is herbal and floral sensory delights. |
May | Dew Drops - May Day lore says to wash your face in the dew you collect in the morning of the first day of May for radiant skin. This month is for absorbing all of that good-for-you H2O. |
June | Summer Sunshine - Ice cream, sunglasses, SPF, check! Once the sun is down (or before it's up), extra care is most necessary. How do you give your skin cooling repair? |

Thank you @Aaliaa for starting this thread, and giving us a place to share our love for masks๐
@QueenMarceline Those masks look like a nice treat. Good to hear that you are enjoying them and took advantage of thr year end sale!
@Mellmars1185 Thank you, they were pretty surprisingly great. ๐
@QueenMarceline iโve resisted these so far telling myself they likely werenโt good cause the Moschino bears were wonky and Coach isnโt exactly known for their skincare. Now Iโm looking at them and considering trying them outโฆ
@heartsmyface To be honest, I only bought them because of the sale and in the hopes they smell like "tea rose" but they do not (at least not to me). I might pick up another pack tbh but I'll try one more before I decide if they're actually good. I was honestly surprised.
Our first snow of winter today inspired today's pick, because really, how can you say no to penguins wearing their winter weather gear?!
My Beauty Diary Antarctica Glycoproteins Moisturizing Mask
I love the fit of MBD masks. They are plenty wide, don't require adjustments around the eyes, and provide the perfect contour on the chin. The sheet itself wasn't as thin as I was expecting but the adherence was good regardless. The watery essence kept the mask plenty moistened for a good half hour of wear. According to MBD, the essence contains glycoproteins pulled from the soil found at the bottom of icebergs in Antarctica. Supposedly it helps with hydration and protection from skin irritants. There was no noticeable scent with the mask and also no tack after removal. In the end, it was nicely hydrating and one that I'd happily use again, but more of a filler mask and not one I'm in a hurry to repurchase.
@quspork, I'm generally comfortable that MBD masks will be a solid good, filler mask. I remember this one - the penguins are hard to forget - such fun packaging! ๐ง๐ I liked the hydration and cooling I received from the mask, something my skin responds well to any time of the year!
Absolutely, @itsfi, that extra boost of hydration is always appreciated during these winter months.
@quspork Filler mask or not, hydration in winter is key! Sounds like a win.
Very true, @missjeanie. Gotta love that added hydration this time of year!
@quspork I just have to say those penguins on the packaging are the cutest thing ever. ๐
Who doesn't love a penguin in a scarf and earmuffs, @QueenMarceline??
@quspork Do they say what kind of glycoprotein? Are we talking sea snail or barnacle mucin?
They didn't directly specify on the packaging and the interwebs didn't have too much other info, but the ingredient list has plankton extract and seaweed extract and the like. @heartsmyface
With this weeks theme I was motivated to gather and organize all of my masks from all places in my house. Honestly it is such a good feeling. I knew I had stuff all over the place but I did not know what stock I had. I have broken up and organized into 2 groups hair and face. I have a ziploc bag for each which will go into a bin in my basement for beauty supplies.
The only masks I have tried so far are:
Wishful Chin Lift sheet mask - This is good for a night out but the ear straps are really uncomfortable.
Ahava Hydration Cream Mask - This mask is very hydrating but the smell is not pleasant. I received this in a Fab Fit Fun box.
Gloss Moderne Clean Luxury Hair Masque - This one has been in my shower and I use it about once per week. I also receieved this in the Fab Fit Fun box. I leave this in my hair after shampooing for about 5 min. It does leave my hair soft and i always use it when I let my hair naturally air dry because it helps to tame the frizz a bit with some Verb Ghost Hair Oil.

@Mellmars1185, love this! And, kudos to you for putting in the time and effort to organize all your masks! ๐ Smart to divide them into hair masks and face masks, as well - that will make it so much easier to get to your masks and to choose the ones you want to use. When my mask collection was at its unruliest (which was really not that long ago - hahaha!), ziploc bags came in handy. I'd store the excess sheet masks that were not expiring soon in ziploc bags to keep them all in one place.
@Mellmars1185 Good idea pulling everything together to take stock. I always look at the masks with ear loops and wonder if they're worth it.
@Mellmars1185 Those all look like fun ๐ hope you enjoy them.
Taking stock of what you have and organizing is definitely a good thing to start the year off with, @Mellmars1185. Re-organizing my sheet mask stash is on my to-do list this week as well.
Wow, this is quite an array of masks, @Mellmars1185! I think one or more here (including myself) can understand the joy of having products stashed โcarefully away for safe-keepingโ all over the house๐
@eshoe Thanks! It was like Easter Egg searching ๐
Well said, @Mellmars1185 ๐
