Mask of the Week Misc. Info & Previous Year's Links:

To Post:

Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas.

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

I try to tear them open neatly & slide a paperclip on to secure it closed & store them in the fridge in a baggie. It helps get more life out of them @heartsmyface @Samtian

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@sonnydee @Oh i never thought if a paper clip!  Thank you!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@sonnydee That is a great tip, thank you!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@heartsmyface It would be nice if they did! Yeah that's about how many uses I got before it dried out. But that did last for a few weeks because i only used it once a week.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

I thought it was a peach ๐Ÿ‘ as well, @Samtian and thought โ€œoh, Iโ€™ve not see this peach mask before!โ€ ๐Ÿ‘€ Too bad it wasnโ€™t memorable. ๐Ÿ˜”

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@itsfi Haha it did take a while to find, I was like so it's that old they don't make it anymore? Finally found a blog post that had it mentioned.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

B for Black

This came from a MOTM box & I love Erno so I was really looking forward to it & have been looking for it at the TJ/M I visit

Fit? Its a 2 part, slippery mask that sandwiched between layers. If you are a frequent masker, its no trouble-you are pretty used it it by now. Some of the reviews however must not be frequent maskers. They knocked off stars for this ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜’

Smell? It was just last night. And I don't remember. ๐Ÿ˜‚ it was pleasant enough

Consistency? The mask itself is black. The serum is on the thicker side, almost gel like. It as net like texture on one side, i guess to hold the serum better

Ease of use?no issues. I think i left this on about 40 min..i couldve went longer. I did have some pilling on my neck but the everything soaked in eventually with very little tack

Would I  purchase/try again? I did have some tingling, not unpleasant but noticeable. {From past experiences I take note & pay attention in case it gets worse. It didn't & actually went away. My pores did look smaller after removing. I think will continue to look for it as a set in a box at a TJ or M.  @@ a deal, in other words would make me pick this mask up. I don't think I would pay full price for 1 mask. You can get the same immediate results with a much cheaper mask. Can't say whether or not long term results. I did like it though. Thank you to whoever put it in. ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ–ค

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@sonnydee sounds like a pretty nice one!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@sonnydee  I've tried a few of these and I feel the same as you about them - they're nice masks, but not nice enough to pay retail prices. Glad it worked out well for you! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@Shosh85 i don't think i have tried a expensive mask that i would pay full price for yet.๐Ÿค”

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@sonnydee  Yup, me too. I used a $50 sheet mask (I only paid 50 cents each ๐Ÿ˜‰) and I didn't think it was any better than some of the $2 masks I've tried. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿป

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

I'm with you on the Erno Laszlo products @sonnydee, I generally quite like them, but the retail prices on the masks are too rich for my blood.  I have however loved finding them from time to time at TJ's.  I haven't tried the black one, but I'm assuming its the same mask material as the Pink/Blue/White.  I could see where someone who doesn't mask often would have trouble, but I thought they fit great.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

Me too. I love the 2 layer ones! @missjeanie I have found the erno masks that are wash off i think but have yet to find a box of sheet masks. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ hopefully one day soon!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@sonnydee  Sounds decent - glad it shrunk pores somewhat. And I'm glad I'm not the only one that can't remember what a mask smelled like. ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@PrettyPaint ๐Ÿ˜‚ I smelled it later & it was strong but typical sheet mask smell.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

This sounds like a good one @sonnydee. I like that your pores looked smaller. Iโ€™m on board with that. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

Yup. @itsfi but more if it was $5-6 not $16-18.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

Yeah, that makes sense! ๐Ÿ˜ I think EL pops up at TJM/Marshalls with some regularity, so there's a good chance you might find them at a discounted price @sonnydee

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

B is for bean curd (aka tofu)

Tofu (bean curd).jpg

Mask:Mitomo Sincere Laura Tofu Facial Essence Mask
Material:It leans ever so slightly thinner than your standard sheet mask but there's also certain heft to it that feels more the result of the mask material itself (as opposed to the amount of essence it holds). It has a light gauze-like pattern to it as well.

Purpose:Moisturizing, stimulates collagen production, anti-aging

Key Ingredients:Moisturizing - glycerin; glycine soja (soybean) seed extract; aloe vera leaf extract; sodium hyaluronate

Anti-aging - hydrolyzed collagen; ubiquinone (coQ-10); Boswellia serrata gum extract

Brightening - kiwi fruit extract; vitamin C (ethyl ascorbic acid)

Soothing - allantoin; aloe vera leaf extract

Full ingredients list in spoiler below.

Adherence + Fit:Adherence was good; fit is on the large side all around, which will make it suitable for many face sizes. A notable feature is that the eye holes are larger (both length and width-wise) than your standard face mask. This one included eye flaps as well.

Essence / Serum:Watery essence; there was plenty of essence to saturate the mask and some extra in the packet.
Scent:There's a non-lingering scent to the essence, but I'm having a hard time figuring out what it is.

Results:There's a definite tacky feeling after removing the mask and pressing in the essence, but it eventually dissipates. My skin felt cool to the touch and this cooling feel remained for some time after removing the mask.

Would I Repurchase?Maybe. There are just so many sheet masks geared at moisturizing the skin that it becomes more challenging for a mask of that kind to stand out. This isn't a bad mask; it's pretty good and one that I could see working well for daily sheet masking.

My Two Cents:There are some great ingredients in this mask, but I can be very particular (read: picky highly selective) ๐Ÿ˜‰ when it comes to masks with moisturizing as its primary purpose. On the one hand, that's the type of mask that's very well suited for my dehydrated and dry skin in the cooler months. That though, coupled with the fact that there are a lot of moisturizing sheet masks out there means that it's harder for any moisturizing mask to really "wow" me. This particular tofu mask is what I'd consider a good mask, but not a great one.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@itsfi thanks so much for sharing this one! Even if it didn't wow you, I love seeing and reading reviews on new to me masks

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@lmaster, thank you! The mask was fine; I think it suffers from having to compete with lots of really great masks used over the years. Also, just because it wasnโ€™t great for me doesnโ€™t mean it wonโ€™t be a wow for someone else.
