Thank you @Aaliaa for starting this thread, and giving us a place to share our love for masks๐
@nuinui933, I was so happy to have found the additional sheet masks, and surprised at how it was easier to get my hands on one mask over another. Ooouuuh, the Etude House snail mask is a good one! ๐๐ผ Itโs hard to go wrong with any mask from that 0.2mm line though.
More of Asia leg of The Gastropods & Escar Go Go's World Tour -
My Scheming Snail Essence Hydrating & Repairing Black Mask:
๐Brand Origin: Taiwan
๐Material: black mask - not sure it's a charcoal mask; pretty sure, it's not.
๐Adherence: Good
๐Fit: one of the better fitting masks, perimeter is just 1/4" or less too wide. Adjustments to corners of eyes and to the nose bridge - too wide
๐Serum: clear, medium viscous but not goopy
๐Scent: Prominent and sweet. I initially thought it might be honey or something along those lines, but it's not listed on the INCI list and I've assumed it's the added fragrance.
๐f(x): Hydrating and repairing
๐Results: There's quite a bit of essence left after 30 minutes and it becomes stickier as you press / pat it in. It takes about another 30-40 minutes to fully absorb / dissipate and leaves a slight film.
๐Repurchase?: No; the My Scheming Snail Essence Hydrating & Repairing Black Mask is one I would use again but not one I'd run out to buy.
Zoe Laure Escargotiere / Snail Wrinkles Correct Mask:
๐Brand Origin: Hong Kong
๐Material: Microfiber cotton
๐Adherence: Good
๐Fit: Large around the perimeter; adjustments needed to the outer corners of the eyes and mouth
๐Serum: Clear, slightly viscous; has more of an essence consistency
๐Scent: Unscented
๐f(x): Anti-aging and skin regeneration
๐Results: I experienced some minor tingling throughout the 30 minutes I had on the mask - nothing alarming and likely the result of exfoliating ingredients in the mask. Skin looks hydrated and nourished. There's a plumpness to my skin as well, and my cheeks feel more firm.
๐Repurchase?: I'm torn over the Zoe Laure Escargotiere / Snail Wrinkles Correct Mask. If it didn't tingle, I'd be keen to repurchase it, but even though the tingling was minor, my preference would be a snail mask that didn't do so.
Bisutang Skin Care Snail Essence Cleanse Moisture Black Face Mask:
๐Brand Origin: China
๐Material: Soft, thin, pliable, bamboo charcoal mask. The material feels thinner than the Etude House 0.2mm masks
๐Adherence: Good
๐ Fit: Good
๐Serum: Clear, thin, watery but not runny or drippy; lots of it
๐Scent: Fruity-floral; something about the scent is very familiar but I can't figure out what it is
๐f(x): Moisturizing
๐Results: Stickiness after removing mask, but it becomes more of a slight tack after the serum is fully absorbed (which takes about 10 minutes).
๐Repurchase?: Yes, and I'd probably do it fairly soon if there hadn't been a slight snafu that resulted in me now having received (by accident and without charge) more than the two extras of these Bisutang Skin Care Snail Essence Cleanse Moisture Black Face Mask. lol
Some By Mi Real Snail Skin Barrier Care Mask:
The Gastropods and Escar Go Go's thank you for joining them on the Asia leg of their 2021 part-of-the-world tour. Hope to see you soon for the US leg. ๐
@itsfi Loving this! Canโt wait for the US leg!
@ather, itโs been a lot of fun to put this together and to be able to use and compare these masks over the last few months. ๐
@itsfi Can't wait for the US leg of the tour. Hey, I wish there were band tees. I would totally wear a shirt that featured the packaging from all of these snail masks.
@PrettyPaint, yaaaay! ๐๐ผ The US leg of the tour will be making its way here soon. ๐ Yes!!! Band tees would be awesome! โฅ๏ธ The Gastropods and Escar Go Goโs are inching their way ๐ to their next venue! ๐
@itsfi Oh my goodness, your gastropod world tour was fun to read! You are so creative! Sounds like you found some good ones! The Etude House snail is one of my top favorite masks! ๐๐
@Shosh85, it was a lot of fun trying out the different snail masks; and exciting finding ones outside of South Korea, Japan and Taiwan. It took a very long time to find ones from China and Hong Kong, let alone a source for them that shipped here.
Love the EH snail masks. ๐ Itโs such a good one; I had to include it in the tour! Which meant I had to have more than one sheet mask from a South Korean brand. ๐
I know Iโve asked this before (or at least I feel like I must have asked before, given how long weโve been talking about sheet masks on BIC), what are your favorite snail sheet masks? Have they stayed the same over the years or have there been new ones youโve discovered that have earned a best in class distinction?
@itsfi I think my most favorite snail mask is the EH one. I also really like the Dewytree 3 Step Royal Snail Black Mask and the Galantry Step by Step Moisturizing Mask (which doesn't say snail in the title, but snail secretion filtrate is 3rd in the list of the ingredients)
What is your favorite, or top favorites?
@Shosh85, let's go with "top favorites" ๐ It can be so hard to pick just one favorite in this category. My top 3 are:
Etude House 0.2mm Air Therapy Sheet Mask Snail - great all year round; excellent bang for the buck ๐ I could easily see myself using this mask for daily masking. This has been in my top 3 for some time now.
Dr.G Royal Black Snail Cream Mask Sheet - the cream essence in this one is great for cooler weather and I love that snail mucin is the 2nd ingredient listed. ๐
JMsolution Active Pink Snail Brightening Mask - I picked up a 10-pack after using this one; these days, that says a lot about a mask. My skin feels hydrated, more plump and has that healthy, dewy glow to it. I've been happy with a lot of the sheet masks from this brand.
Another good one that I want to use again is Some by Mi Real Snail Skin Barrier Care Mask - the material on this is thinner than the EH mask and does a wonderful job of making my skin feel hydrated and nourished.
I have a couple other snail sheet masks that I plan to try this year, but for now, these are the ones that I have several back ups of or that I plan to keep a few on hand at all times.
Real Id mask with Vitamin K3
โ
Oh bummer that this mask wasnโt a better one for you, @Kim888. At least it was only seven minutes of meh, ha!
@Kim888 I feel like 7 mins is such a random time to pick. Interesting ๐ง
@Kim888 Hahaha...7 minutes? I don't think I've ever seen a sheet mask with 7 minutes listed. I don't know how they come up with that stuff.
By the way...I feel kind of silly admitting this, but I seriously used to meticulously time how long I kept on a sheet mask based on the instructions. I think I was afraid there would be a reaction if I exceeded the time. Now I just keep them on based on whether I like the mask! ๐
@Kim888 dang sorry to hear it didn't do much,, guess it could of been worse
@Kim888 bummer that the mask was just meh.
@Kim888, that is a very specific amount of time to have on the mask. Odd that it calls for exactly 7 minutes. Hmmmโฆ ๐ค
Iโve found that bio-cellulose masks tend to work best for me when I use them after a particularly strong peel or if my skin is really sensitive because itโs had too much sun. Otherwise, itโs usually not hydrating enough on its own.
@itsfi @Yeah I definitely thought the timing was strange! But I agree it might have just felt super nice after a day in the sun!
@Kim888 Sorry to hear it was nothing special! I have this one in my stash to try, but now I won't be too excited to get to it ๐
K is for Kohlrabi
Innisfree Jeju Root Energy Mask ~ Kohlrabi
Material:
Thin cotton
Serum:
Clear and thin, slightly viscous
Scent:
Geez, this ones hard to explain... I smelled it over and over- sometimes it smelled maybe like fresh and clean, mixed with fruity and leafy? .... but then sometimes I smelled it and got a whiff of something like bathroom bar soap๐ If anyone has tried this one, I'd be interested to hear they're take on the scent
Fit:
Great fit, just a hair too long at the chin
Wear Time:
Half hour
Tack:
Yes. Lasted for over about and hour and 15 minutes, but lightened up quite a bit after the first 30 minutes.
Results:
Soft and super moisturized skin, maybe just a little filmy, with a nice glow.
Repurchase?
Meh, probably not. I actually really don't care about tack, but didn't love the filmy feel that didn't really go away.
@Shosh85 I donโt blame you. Iโm not a fan of a filmy feeling either.
