Welcome to the 2024 Masking Challenge!
This year is going to be a little different - simplified. Easy. Every month will have a new theme, and that's it. Feel free to join in whenever and wherever. Most importantly - have fun!
Spring Fling - Baskets and bouquets, showers of much-anticipated rain...this month's focus is herbal and floral sensory delights ๐ฎ
January | Fresh Starts - Time for a re-set, or morning masking? However you see it, this month is all about new beginnings. |
February | Winter Love - Whether it's a mask you adore, or something extra-special to care for dry winter skin, this month is for some soothing TLC. |
March | March Madness - Competition is in the air! Find a $ dupe of a $$$ mask that is share-worthy? Or find a dupe that works even better than the original? Details, please! |
April | Spring Fling - Baskets and bouquets, showers of much-anticipated rain...this month's focus is herbal and floral sensory delights. |
May | Dew Drops - May Day lore says to wash your face in the dew you collect in the morning of the first day of May for radiant skin. This month is for absorbing all of that good-for-you H2O. |
June | Summer Sunshine - Ice cream, sunglasses, SPF, check! Once the sun is down (or before it's up), extra care is most necessary. How do you give your skin cooling repair? |

Thank you @Aaliaa for starting this thread, and giving us a place to share our love for masks๐
@missjeanie yes I received that as gratis as well @Mellmars1185. I followed a very strict and careful regimen for weeks. In the end, even though my skin had a slightly smoother appearance overall, it also seemed to enlarge my pores. Due to that, after weeks of use I ended up giving it to my sister. I am currently using Shani Darden Skin Care Retinol Reformยฎ Treatment Serum 1 oz / 30 mL and on week two of twice a week. So far so good, maybe the DE is just very, very powerful-too powerful for my skin, anyway ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
@eshoe I did try a deluxe sample of the Shani Darden Skin Care Mini Retinol Reformยฎ 0.3 oz/ 10 mL and my skin had a better reaction. Thanks for the info!
@missjeanie Thank you so much for the feedback! I actually just put on this maskto try and bring some moisture back and calm my skin down. I don't see any ingredients listed as ceramides? Sorry the picturw quality isn't great. Maybe it is because I am posting from my phone?

mmmmmm avocado @Mellmars1185 How does it feel for you? Sometimes it just takes a bit of time and patience. And oils lol. That may just be me and my dry skin though, I often find layering on some oil feels nice.
@missjeanie Honestly it felt so nice and I think it is just what my skin needed. My skin still feels hydrated from the mask 2 hours ago. I am going to put some oils on, a sleeping hydrating mask and some moisturizer before bed. Hopefully this will help my skin recover.
Sounds like a recipe for success @Mellmars1185 ! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
@Mellmars1185 I have a sample of that as well and it is quite potent. I usually use the LUNA retinol from Sunday Riley mixed with a gentle moisturizer but the Passioni from DE definitely packs a punch. I like it but I tend to gravitate towards my LUNA way more.
Peter Thomas Roth Irish Moor Mud Purifying Black Mask 5 oz/ 150 mL
I for Irish, of course ๐
I think I understand why it's supposed to be "purifying"; by the time I'd spent about 4 or 5 minutes just trying to wash it off, my face felt VERY clean, lol.
That's what I call a mud mask! @CookieGirl1
@lmaster It's what I call a pain in the butt!
@CookieGirl1 Great occasion for a masking selfie! I remember liking this one, but I think I had been using a make up eraser to remove it in shower to make life a bit easier.
@missjeanie had I known it was going to be such a process I would've tried that as well.
@CookieGirl1, whoa! Sounds like this gets an I for interactive as well. ๐ฒ I know that making the time to mask can take some work but wow, 4-5 minutes? That was a lot of work with this mask. My recollection is that this mud mask is one of a few masks from PTR that I like, but I don't remember it taking so much effort to remove. Sorry this one took so much work to remove.
@itsfi maybe I applied too much? Who knows. At any rate, I don't think it's going to be a monthly favorite ๐
@CookieGirl1 Haha! Any kind of mud mask (especially charcoal ones) are so hard for me to get out of my fair skin. ๐
@CookieGirl1 Ahahahaha that made me laugh. Have you tried using a makeup eraser on it? It works wonders on hard to take off masks.
@Samtian I didn't try that but thankfully it was a single-use mask so I won't need to put out that kind of effort for it again ๐คฃ
@CookieGirl1 Hahaha yeah I wouldn't either!
@CookieGirl1 Oh my goodness, I love it!.... and I totally agree, that mask isn't the easiest to get off!
Also, me three- your hair looks great! What are you currently using?
@Shosh85 Lol, I definitely wasn't expecting the mask to be THAT stubborn! As for the hair--it's naturally really straight (I can hardly get it to curl) so when I brush it out it pretty much just lays like that and because I have enough blonde in my hair it tends to reflect light pretty easily when it's so straight. This just happened to be a good hair day but trust me, it doesn't happen often ๐.
I love your โIโ for Irish, @CookieGirl1! Echoing @Sheerink, your hair looks so shiny and healthy ๐คฉ
