Mask of the Week Misc. Info & Previous Year's Links:

To Post:

Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas.

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

well one picture worked from my computer. Lol

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@missjeanie I have a pack of the Yadah I've  been trying to use up too - they are definitely great for low-maintenance masking sessions you don't have to give much thought to. ๐Ÿ‘

I bet you looked super cute in the Tiger mask! Love the print/illustration on that one!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

For unusual week: Mugwort & G for Ganghwa

I think I choose this from MOTM because it was unusual

Fit?Ok, usual extra in the chin. the eyes holes were huge but I just patted some serum in the areas that wasn't completely covered

Smell?pleasant, like a clean herb. Would i want to eat/cook with it? No. But I would be ok if my body wash smelled like it.

Consistency?silky, smooth clear serum. Soaked in nice without tack.

Ease of use?no issues

Would I  purchase/try again?after researching what exactly this is...a plant...I would happily use this again. My skin feels nice & moisturized.

Those with allergies to plants, or preggos ๐Ÿคฐ beware. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@sonnydee idk what it is,,, but I'm drawn to the word mugwort ๐Ÿคฃ

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Yessss @lmaster@sonnydee When I think about it, I find that skincare ingredients that have odd names have a certain pull with me. I mean, it's mugwort, after all! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Not all of them, of course, but nowadays, there's something about ingredients that are unique or have interesting names.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Happy to hear you found a mask suited to your skin from the box, @sonnydee! Many thanks to @lmaster ๐Ÿค—

โ€ƒ@eshoe @l@lmaster @lmaster  already planning my trades for the new box

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Ohhhhh exciting!!! ๐Ÿ˜ @sonnydee @eshoe

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I've been looking at their mugwort essence so thanks for this review @sonnydee!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@sonnydee  Mugwort is a great ingredient! Happy to hear this one turned out nice! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Good warning for the pregnancy maskers @sonnydee .  I like the sound of the silky serum.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I see it as a question every now & then on BIC. Luckily during my 4 pregnancies my skin was the last thing on my mind {it didn't really freak out & I had plenty of other stuff to think about with all 4 high risk pregnancies} but thought i would mention it because there was an abundance of warnings ๐Ÿ˜ฑwhen I looked this up. Evidently it gets the uterus going either with miscarriage or puts you in labor if you want. @missjeanie

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Buddied up with @ShortErica and did this Spirulina mask for this week's theme. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
Thanks to MOtM for this one! (I wonder if this is the one you thought you had, @eshoe ๐Ÿ˜‚)

Biorace Intense Hydrating Spirulina Mask

This is a thin-medium cotton sheet mask that was saturated with a nice jelly serum. The scent is hard for me to describe - maybe clean + floral? I wouldn't say it was enjoyable, but it was tolerable enough. The fit was great and was just a little too long at the chin/jawline. It adhered well and was comfortable to wear the half hour I had it on. There wasn't any tack after removing. My face felt refreshed, lightly hydrated and soft and smooth.

I thought this was a nice one, and I'd use again, but probably wouldn't purchase. The scent wasn't my favorite and I wouldn't say I experienced "intense hydration," like it claims, but it was overall pretty decent.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Shosh85 itโ€™s very possible! Iโ€™ve since picked up another, so at least I get to experience the โ€˜meh-nessโ€™ too ๐Ÿ˜‰ @ShortErica @missjeanie

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@eshoe I'd at least give it a meh+. I peaked at @Shosh85's review (tried not too because I wanted to be unbiased but couldn't resist) and that lowered my expectations so then it wasn't as meh as I went in thinking. No tack and a good wear get a thumbs up. Let us know your thoughts when you use it ๐Ÿ˜Š

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Iโ€™m using it right now @ShortErica @Shosh85 and my first impression on scent was Old Spice ๐Ÿง

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I'm wearing it now @Shosh85. I side eyed that "intense hydration" claim too. Yeah I got floral but then wasn't sure on the scent. I am appreciating the fit but yeah, nothing to knock my socks off.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@ShortErica  Yep, nothin' special. I'd definitely agree with @missjeanie's "meh" category comment.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@Shosh85  I looked through my stash and didn't find this one, so I looked through my empties pics and found it there.  I had it in the 'meh' category, so I'm going to agree with you on this one lol.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@missjeanie  Yeah, "meh" is pretty accurate ๐Ÿ˜‰ Not bad, but easily forgettable

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

S is for soothing

VT Cica Daily Soothing Mask.jpeg

What I Like
The material of the VT Cica Daily Soothing Mask is quite nice - it's a nude seal fabric, same as the Merbliss Intense Hydration mask I posted on previously.  There's a good amount of essence in these sheets, more so than I've seen in some daily sheet mask packs. There are also some good skincare ingredients in the essence - extracts of centella asiatica, honey, propolis and royal jelly, along with sodium hyaluronate and pathenol, to name a few.  These masks can be left on for 10-20 minutes (per the instructions) without it drying out and I find that amount of time to hydrate my skin nicely. It's not as hydrated as if I used an individual sheet mask, but I didn't expect it to. I was pleasantly surprised that it gave me more hydration than I thought it would. I also love the mini tongs that come with these sheet masks as well! These VT sheet masks claim to soothe the skin and I feel like it did, to some extent, at least. My skin wasn't super irritated to begin with when I used these. A couple blemishes looked less angry, always a plus.
What's also a plus is that this mask pack contains, wait for it . . .
30 sheet masks!!!
LOL! Not 20. Or 32. Or 36. Thirty. So there are actual months where this mask pack will be perfect for daily masking. Hahaha! Tagging @Shosh85 @lmaster, I wasn't sure I would come across a mask pack that had 30 or 31 sheet masks, but here we go. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚
Area(s) for Improvement
The packaging has its pros and cons. I would like to see a better way to close/seal the inside "door" to the sheet masks. It's easy to tear off completely, which is what I did the first time I used a daily sheet mask pack with this type of design (it was from A'Pieu). I learned my lesson and made sure not to tear off the inner lid completely. Still, though, some of the essence ended spilling out when the box fell from the sink counter, which means these are not safe for travel (but then again, I don't have any travel plans for the time I intend to use these sheet masks). Good news though, the two-lid system prevented any sheets from touching the floor - it landed on a closed lid so everything was intact, save the essence that seeped out. Could've been worse, but this is one of the areas with this mask pack can could benefit the most from a redesign. This isn't a deal breaker.
Would I repurchase?
I'd like to go through the entire box before committing to anything, but I'm definitely leaning towards this being a repurchase. I'll try to remember to post about these sheet masks again when V is the letter of the week. If all goes accordingly to plan, I'll pretty much have gone through this mask pack by then so the timing should work out very nicely.
