Hello Lovelies! As we make our resolutions and check them twice, I thought we could start a skincare version of the Weekly Challenge. Many of us wanted to use more masks, shop our stash and focus on our Skin so hopefully this thread will be an inspiration to do just that. Join us with pictures and comments down below.

Masking Spreadsheet Info

Hello every, @eshoe and I are very happy to present the BIC Masking Challenge Spreadsheet. The idea is to have an easily searchable database of masks and reviews as a reference point when we are considering our next purchase. Data integrity was important to us so instead of everyone inputing data directly into the spreadsheet where theoretically information could be deleted or edited we have the questionnaire. It should take no longer then 1-2 minutes with the option for a more detailed review (which you can copy from your post on this thread).

Remember the idea is not to replace this thread. I personally love reading, commenting and interacting with all you amazing women here and that shouldn’t change. This would just be on top of that. Hopefully the more people that partake in this, the larger database of information we’ll have for reference. It will be extra effort in the beginning but then we would only need to input any new mask we’ve tried.

 Incase you need some help to filter/search results, try this :-

Search Specific Word or Phrase —> Edit -> Find and Replace -> Search Word

Filter/Organize by Columns --> Data -> Create a Filter -> Select Options
 

There are 2 ways to edit a response: 

1) Once you have completed a survey, click on the "Edit Your Response" link on that page. Once this page is closed, the only way to make a change is to:

Each week there will be a new Masking Challenge posted. It will range from type of mask, brand specific week or fun challenges along the way.

Choose mask, take picture (with mask on or before), place mask on face, relax and dream of the next Sephora purchase you want to make, remove mask for healthier skin.

@RachFace2921 I haven't opened any yet, but they're supposed to be little exfoliating pads! I'll take a photo when. I get around to using them... each foil is a 2-pack, they were the "bonus" with the mask set. 🤷‍♀️

I just picked up a bunch of these @fieldsofclover !! I've only tried the Honey one but I thought it was nice! Not my new holy grail but I would use again if I got one

@fieldsofclover @KrishAtl I picked up a pack of the honey at Anthropologie this winter. Anthro’s reviews were good as well, & couldn’t beat the price. They’re not my fave, I still have 3. But they do work well, esp for the price. I think it’s just preference, for me it was something about the serum’s texture. I would still recommend them and personally would try others in the line, like the aqua. @fieldsofclover please fill us in on your experience when you try them!

Just curious! Do you all apply your masks with a brush, or fingers??? I usually use my fingers/hands for masks and foundation, but have been trying to look into ways to be gentler on my skin and am wondering if it’s time to graduate to a fan brush for mask application?...

@KrishAtl Elf has a silicone brush I use to apply my masks, especially my Boscia Black Charcoal Mask. I love it.

I use the mask brush from Elf. It was like $5 at ulta.

@KrishAtl I use my hands to apply masks and a mask mitt to remove it (my investments may be backwards here ha). I would like to use a brush, but not sure how to select a good one for masks. For tinted moisturizer I recently bought a beauty blender. I thought I’d regret it, but love it.

I love my beauty blender @MackyDeanna. Just got it myself, too! Never used one before in my life and now I use it everyday!! Love it!! I just grabbed a silicon foundation brush from Amazon for like $5!! I think it’s the one @Aaliaa uses.

There are a bunch of different ones @KrishAtl. I have a set of 6 but three of those are useless and not for masking. I was intrigued wth how a silicone brush would work will gel eyeliner - spoiler alert, it doesn't! I really only use one of these so looks like you got a great deal.

I use a brush too. I got a set of Silicone Brushes of Amazon and if I can find it, last years Rouge Gift brush. I like the silicone ones because it wastes no product and helps apply a thin layer. @KrishAtl

I got one of these around the time I realized what the retail prices of masks I was getting at Costco actually were, and decided I needed to be more efficient with them 😂

@fieldsofclover how do you like it? If I am remembering right, the reviews were pretty mixed.

@MackyDeanna I love it. The silicone part is one piece, not individual bristles, so it doesn't retain any product and takes like ten seconds to clean. I use it for masks and for stuff like Good Genes or Sukari Babyfacial (because I still need my fingerprints).

Since it's more like a spatula it doesn't apply around your nose quite as nicely as a brush, but since it doesn't waste any product that would otherwise get stuck in bristles, I'm ok with the trade-off.

I use this:

I used a regular bristle-style brush made specifically for masking for a while, but cleaning it was a pain, even though I did that religiously immediately after using it. And while it wasted less than I lost by using my fingers, it still absorbed a fair amount of product that just got washed down the drain. I finally picked this up to give it a whirl and haven't looked back. Super easy to clean, next to no waste, and the ultra-flexible head fits down into dang near every jar, even super tiny sample ones. Love it!
