Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello Lovelies! As we make our resolutions and check them twice, I thought we could start a skincare version of the Weekly Challenge. Many of us wanted to use more masks, shop our stash and focus on our Skin so hopefully this thread will be an inspiration to do just that. Join us with pictures and comments down below.

Masking Spreadsheet Info

Spoiler

Hello every, @eshoe and I are very happy to present the BIC Masking Challenge Spreadsheet. The idea is to have an easily searchable database of masks and reviews as a reference point when we are considering our next purchase. Data integrity was important to us so instead of everyone inputing data directly into the spreadsheet where theoretically information could be deleted or edited we have the questionnaire. It should take no longer then 1-2 minutes with the option for a more detailed review (which you can copy from your post on this thread).

Remember the idea is not to replace this thread. I personally love reading, commenting and interacting with all you amazing women here and that shouldn’t change. This would just be on top of that. Hopefully the more people that partake in this, the larger database of information we’ll have for reference. It will be extra effort in the beginning but then we would only need to input any new mask we’ve tried.

Additional Info:

Spoiler

Since we aren’t allowed to post links, please PM or myself for it. You will also find this information on the original post so you don’t need a database to search for this post!

Incase you need some help to filter/search results, try this :-

Search Specific Word or Phrase —> Edit -> Find and Replace -> Search Word

Filter/Organize by Columns --> Data -> Create a Filter -> Select Options

There are 2 ways to edit a response:

1) Once you have completed a survey, click on the "Edit Your Response" link on that page. Once this page is closed, the only way to make a change is to:

2) PM @Aaliaa or @eshoe to make the change directly in the response spreadsheet

Thanks @eshoe for putting this together!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

It was a multi-masking Monday!  🙂

Spoiler
AM

The morning started off with the Skinfood Egg White Pack (Peel-Off Pack Nose Forehead Jaw), which comes with 10 packets – 5 packets of the nose strip and 5 packets containing pieces for your forehead and jaw area.  I applied the strips to dry skin and left them on until the strips were dry, which was about 15 minutes; then peeled them of.  I followed up with a toner immediately after removing the strips.  What I like about this pack is that it comes with more than just the nose strips.  There are pieces for the forehead and chin.  The strips did a decent job of adhering to my face, but I think that other strips out there do a better job of adhering to the skin and, as a result, those other strips do a better job of removing dirt, oil and blackheads from the area where these strips are applied.  After using the egg white pack, I used the GlamGlow Thirsty Mud  as my moisturizer instead of a rinse-off mask.

PM

I started my PM masking session with Olaplex No. 3.  I applied the treatment to my hair per the direction, combed it through and left it on for about 20 minutes before rinsing it off in the shower. I then reached for my sample of the Blithe Patting Water Pack Soothing & Healing Green Tea.  I rotate the Blithe Patting Water Pack in the Yellow Citrus and Honey flavor into my skincare routine about once or twice a week and decided to give the Green Tea one a try.  These splash mask help to cut down my skincare routine because they function like an exfoliant, toner and essence in one.  I really like using them on days/nights when I’m short on time, or for times, like tonight, I want to use a few different masks but want to be as efficient with my time as possible.  Just as with the Citrus and Honey splash mask, do not get this product in your mouth; it tastes horrible.  But it does a fine job of prepping my skin for a sheet mask, which tonight, is the Shangpree Charcoal Hydrogel Mask.

The Shangpree Charcoal Hydrogel Mask is a 2 piece sheet mask made of charcoal hydrogel.  The texture on this one felt like a cross between your traditional hydrogel mask and a rubber mask.  I found that this sheet mask to be less slippery that traditional hydrogel masks.  It has a pleasant scent – I can identify the exact scent but I’d say it falls in the category of lightly fresh and floral.  Fit-wise, this may be as good as it gets for me – I didn’t have to make any adjustments at all.  I left the mask on for 20 minutes, and patted the very little bit of essence that had not fully absorbed – there was really not a lot of it.  My skin felt bouncy, if a little tacky, and my complexion looked brighter.  If I had to do it again, I’d use this mask in the morning, because I feel it did a good job of hydrating and brightening my complexion.

While I had the charcoal hydrogel mask on my face, I applied the Sephora Collection Honey Lip Scrub to my lips and put on the pair of booties in The Crème Shop Detoxifying Charcoal Foot Mask.  The booties contain a charcoal lotion.  Unlike other foot masks I’ve tried, this one does not have any stickers to keep the booties in place so I just stayed in bed with the booties on for 20 minutes before removing the mask and massaging in the little lotion that remained.  It absorbed quickly and my feet felt soft, smooth and moisturized, like they do after a pedicure.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Holy smokes @itsfi, you hit all the bases except hands I think!?! 😄 Fantastic masking! 🙌🏻

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

lol @bakeamuffin!  Yep, no hand mask yesterday.  😞  I needed to use my hands and was not confident in my ability to use them with a mask on. haha!  Am hoping to use a hand mask tonight.  😉

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi. Holy coW! You went for broke!!!!!!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

hahahaha @mermadelove🙂  For whatever reason, it didn't seem like that many masks when I had them on.  I am surprised by how well the charcoal hydrogel face mask works - my complexion looks clear, soft and moisturized this morning.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi, I love hydrogel masks, but have never tried a charcoal mask (hydrogel or otherwise) as I fear it would not hydrate my skin like it needs. Guess I need to rethink charcoal! Thanks for the review:)

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe, I get ya!  The first time I tried a charcoal sheet mask, I thought I would have to follow up with a lot of layers of hydrating essences, serums, and moisturizer, but I've tried a couple of charcoal sheet masks and have found them to be, surprisingly enough, rather hydrating.  This charcoal hydrogel is not drying at all, and, while it does provide some hydration, it's not going to drench you in it.  That said, I think it works now, but I'm not sure it would be hydrating enough in the wintertime.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi I’ll keep my eye out for that one! I love charcoal masks!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi Holy masks! –you were busy today!!

Ive never seen the Egg White pack before! It definitely sounds fun and interesting! Too bad they weren’t as effective as you’d hoped. I’ve always liked the Biore nose strips– and I get the pack that comes with both nose and forehead strips. Even my husband likes to wear these– but he always cuts them up so they fit his ”Jew nose” correctly, haha!

Ive been tempted to buy the Foot Mask– but I usually can’t find time to just do nothing for 20 minutes, haha! Even with my face masks on I’m walking around the house getting things done! I’ve heard people wearing their own socks over the masks to help keep them more secure– I wonder if that would work for these too? 🤔

I have seriously gotta try Olaplex! – it seems everyone’s been raving about it lately! 👌

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85  The Creme Shop foot mask is really nice; my feet feel soft and moisturized this morning!  🙂  It was a nice break and I managed to get quite a few things done while not really being mobile, but I would definitely wear socks over the foot masks or wear my slippers if I used the foot masks again.

Yeah, the Biore nose strips are still tops when it comes to nose strips.  I'll have to look for the foreheads ones the next time I need to restock; in the meantime, I'll just cut up a nose strip and apply one to my forehead and one to my chin.

Olaplex has been good for my hair and scalp.  I was surprised how well it has  worked out!

RE: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Catching up on a few days... Saturday morning I used the PRR peel gel & lush brazened honey and feel like I got deep into my pores which is my continued main focus. My face was super smooth and I didn’t wear any makeup Saturday or Sunday so my skin got a break. On Sunday I used boscia pore pudding and took the middle 2 pics of my face and I feel like my face looked so clear! Today I skipped makeup too and cleansed with fab cleanser and followed up with this new to me Clinique city block which I used as mask with my part of the challenge week patchology lip gels which I continue to enjoy the scent and hydration - see earlier posts for more info on patchology lip gels! I’m still wearing the Clinique and post back on my experience! Happy Monday night!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

We had some errands today so I stopped in to Sephora to grab a sample of the PTR Pumpkin Enzyme Mask 🎃 I have been really eager to try this aha mask! 1D373C87-AEDA-4070-B597-BEF0CEEC3809.jpeg

Spoiler
When I opened this mask I could smell the pumpkin right away which made me really happy! I love the scent 😃 Once I applied it to my skin I could feel some tingling and and cooling, it was very nice. I felt like it spread around easily and the physical exfoliators were not bothersome to me. At the 7 minute mark the mask had dried and it was time to rinse it off. I love how it made my skin feel and look, it’s smooth, glowing, and looks refreshed. I can see how this mask would have more Benefits with continued use, like reduced hyper pigmentation and fine lines, since it’s so great at exfoliating. I think this is one I’ll be picking it up in full size for sure, It would be an Autumn Dream Duo to use with the Bite Maple Agave Lip Mask that @eshoe brought to my attention! 😄 🍁 + 🎃 = 🧡

RE: Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@bakeamuffin I have to try the PTR pumpkin mask, it sounds great!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@bakeamuffin I’m so glad you liked it and were able to get a sample! The Bite Maple Mask and this one sure do sound like a perfect pair, especially in the Autumn! 🍂🍁
