This year is going to be a little different - simplified. Easy. Every month will have a new theme, and that's it. Feel free to join in whenever and wherever. Most importantly - have fun!

Z for zippy and zzzz's and a favorite mask

Sleeping Mask:

belif Aqua Bomb Sleeping Mask 2.53 oz/ 75 mL # is lightly scented gel sleeping mask. The scent is nice and disappears pretty quickly; it's the same fragrance found in other belif products. The gel applies smoothly and easily, feels rich and emollient, without feeling heavy or overwhelming on the skin - it absorbs fully overnight and there's no residue on my face the next morning; just soft, nicely hydrated skin with a bit of bounce. A little bit of this goes a long way so this deluxe sample will last me for a while. A plus with this sleeping mask is that it does not contain alcohol, but there are quite a few essential oils and added fragrance, all at the end of the INCI list, but for those who are sensitive to those things might want to pass altogether or try to get a sample first.

Splash Mask:

I've spoken about the Blithe Patting Splash Mask Soothing & Healing Green Tea before. There are three splash masks in the line - this one in the green bottle, another one for brightening which contains lemon and honey extracts (yellow bottle) and a splash mask geared towards restoring elasticity to the skin, made up of berry extracts. These are highly concentrated liquids composed of their star ingredient(s) and lactic acid, and are great for exfoliating, resurfacing and smoothing the skin, in a very short amount of time. The most important thing for using splash masks is to make sure they are heavily diluted in water. There are a couple of ways to use the mask, my preferred approach is to use it in the shower by filling half of the cap with the liquid, pouring that into a cupped palm and then with my face turned toward the stream of water from the showerhead and my eyes closed, splashing the water and the liquid in my cupped hands onto my face and patting that in all over my face for 15 - 20 seconds. Yes, seconds. Zippy. Afterwards, I use a washcloth to pat my face dry, which feels so soft, smooth and supple. I'll apply my moisturizer next, or if I'm particularly dry, then a hydrating serum and a moisturizer. 

This masking sesh meets both themes from last week and and one from this week - we have a Z for zzzz's, an all time favorite mask and a 2021 discovery.

Both these masks earn a Z for zzzz's with the Megrhythm Gentle Steam Eye Mask also being an all time favorite mask of mine - this yuzu scented version works really well for me when I'm either congested, suffering from allergies, or experiencing a minor headache and help me to get some sleep and rest. 😴

The Algenist GENIUS Sleeping Collagen Moisturizer 2 oz/ 60 mL is also a favorite of mine, a new favorite, in fact, and fits the masks discovered this year (2021) category. I talked about it in a recent post - I had a handful of samples and decided to do the 10-day challenge, and to my (very pleasant) surprise, there was a noticeable difference in the plumpness and hydration of my skin. This sleeping mask is on my list for the spring sale; by then, I should have made some good work of my current supply of sleeping masks.. hopefully. 🤞

@lmaster, you should definitely give it a try. It comes up every so often as a promo gwp, sometimes as a single foil, and other times in a 10-day pack as part of a 10-day use / challenge like with the set I picked up. I was really so amazed by the results I actually saw.

I think my favorite might be the yuzu? I think I remember peach was okay to good, but there was one I couldn’t stand that was perhaps floral? It was a sampler set I bought and didn’t even realize at first there were different ones. I will check my stash and see if I can tell. I remember the first time I got these and tried one and I felt like it was SO HOT, but now I love them. My eye doctor recommended warm compress on eyes at night to help flush tear ducts (or something). @itsfi

Oooh, there's a peach scented one @sister13? 🍑 That sounds like it would be nice. I've been seeing new scents coming out - vanilla, forest bath from this brand and then other scents from new brands coming out with similar products. @heartsmyface

I remember liking the Algenist Sleeping Mask, and wouldn't mind having the full size, but that price tag is a bit too steep for my wallet. 💰

The Belif sounds great too! I know I have a couple samples of this and your review has definitely made me want to go pull them out and try them soon!

@Shosh85, these steam eye masks come in handy more often than I like, but I'm glad I have them. 

There's so many sleeping masks on the market these days. Great for making them accessible for everyone but my goodness, it presents a challenge when  you have just one face and you want to be keep the mask stash manageable. 😂🤣😂 I'm not usually one for gel formulae but this belif one was nice. It wouldn't be hydrating enough for our skin types this time of the year, but I like to layer my skincare in the evenings and this worked well for that. If you try it, I'd love to hear what you think. I've been slowly, product by product, becoming more and more a fan of belif.

Your tips on using splash masks are noted, @itsfi 😉 Algenist products in general have been good to my skin, so I am adding this one to the ‘to-try’…eventually! Merry masking to you this year🙌🏼

@eshoe, I should also add that you'll want to make sure your mouth is closed too - it does not taste good. 😬 I found that out the hard way when some of the liquid, even watered down, found its way into my mouth. Ack!!!

Hahaha! "eventually" sounds right. Something everyone here can relate to, I imagine. 🤣 Yay for another year of masking!

I'm glad to see your thoughts on the belif sleeping mask, @itsfi. It sounds like a nicely hydrating without being too heavy.  I'm pretty sure I have a sample of that one in my stash and need to pull it out to try soon. 2022 is going to be year I dwindle that stash (she says optimistically on January 2nd)... 😂

Whittling down the mask stash is definitely an undertaking, isn't it. Sleeping masks are going to be on my "no buy" list for awhile and, hopefully, I will be a more selective shopper when it comes to them when they come off the 'no buy' list. 😂

The belif works in the colder months just fine but I think it'll really be good for my skin in the spring / summer.

For me it's wash-offs, @itsfi. I think I need to institute a little "wash-off wednesday" each week for all those masks that I've been too lazy to use this year. But here's to a year of getting through those sleeping, wash-off, and sheet masks (and only adding to the stash when there's a really interesting new product or a really good sale or someone here has a great recommendation or something is getting discontinued or ... or ... or ... 😆)!

Love the caveats for picking up new product. I feel like I can live up to that part. Hahaha! 

It’s always something; a constant work in progress. I have no idea how I accumulated so many sleeping masks. Well, I mean, I technically know … 😂 I pulled out unopened ones and unopen backups of ones that I don’t think I’ll keep - they’re good masks; I just have enough good masks that I need to finish up first. Those have been re-homed.
