Welcome to the 2024 Masking Challenge!
This year is going to be a little different - simplified. Easy. Every month will have a new theme, and that's it. Feel free to join in whenever and wherever. Most importantly - have fun!
Spring Fling - Baskets and bouquets, showers of much-anticipated rain...this month's focus is herbal and floral sensory delights ๐ฎ
January | Fresh Starts - Time for a re-set, or morning masking? However you see it, this month is all about new beginnings. |
February | Winter Love - Whether it's a mask you adore, or something extra-special to care for dry winter skin, this month is for some soothing TLC. |
March | March Madness - Competition is in the air! Find a $ dupe of a $$$ mask that is share-worthy? Or find a dupe that works even better than the original? Details, please! |
April | Spring Fling - Baskets and bouquets, showers of much-anticipated rain...this month's focus is herbal and floral sensory delights. |
May | Dew Drops - May Day lore says to wash your face in the dew you collect in the morning of the first day of May for radiant skin. This month is for absorbing all of that good-for-you H2O. |
June | Summer Sunshine - Ice cream, sunglasses, SPF, check! Once the sun is down (or before it's up), extra care is most necessary. How do you give your skin cooling repair? |

Thank you @Aaliaa for starting this thread, and giving us a place to share our love for masks๐
@lmaster Glad these were both at least decent. That line of Annie's masks are nice, but I agree, they're pretty much filler masks.
The fruity scented Annie's way masks are so good!! @Shosh85 this one didn't fit so well ๐คฃ
@lmaster, it always makes me think what I'm going to make for my next meal when I see a tomato mask. lol. Seeing yours brings to mind a b.l.t. or a caprese salad. ๐ Odd that yours had a floral scent but good that it wasn't overpowering. I like that line of Annie's Way masks but the seaweed one isn't my favorite; filler mask is a nice category for it. Yay for glowieco - their warehouse is nearby so I get my orders fast when I purchase from them. ๐
@itsfi sounds super convenient!! Ohhhh BLT!!! ๐คค
Itโs been ages since Iโve had a BLT @lmaster and now I canโt get it out of my head. ๐
@lmaster @Tomato is always such an interesting ingredient for masks ! Iโm always waiting for one to smell like spaghetti
@Kim888 that would be hilarious!! Idk what I'd really think if I smelled sauce after opening a mask ๐คฃ
Goin' with the Odd Ingredient theme again, but this time it's Bee Venom ๐
Celimax Skin Repair Bee Tox Therapy
Material:
Thin cotton
Serum:
Honey-yellow colored and slightly viscous
Scent:
Very light, real-honey scent
Fit:
Great fit - just a little long at the chin
Wear Time:
Half hour
Tack:
Light tack that stuck around for about a half hour
Results:
I felt some very light tingling most of the time the mask was on, but nothing alarming. My skin was left feeling soft and smooth, moisturized, hydrated, a little plump and had a nice glow
Repurchase?
Loved this one! The results from it were wonderful! - but because of the ethanol I'd be hesitant to repurchase.
This one sounds great.
@missy94612 I loved it! It seems like the weirdest ingredients produces the greatest results! ๐
๐คฃ๐คฃ I have a new appreciation for weird ingredients becuase of this challenge, especially reading about the masks you and @itsfi use. My husband loves both your open mindedness to the interesting ingredients. He's basically said that he would use any weird ingredient mask you two post about. That seems like a challenge directed my way. ๐
@missy94612hahaha! That's awesome that your husband (and you) are up for trying out new ... less mainstream, ingredients. I'm in agreement with @Shosh85 that it's often the ones with the unique ingredients, or the new ingredients, that catch my eye. I find that some of these, many of them actually, really do work wonders for my skin, so that always makes for a good reminder to be open to try out ingredients I haven't heard of before or used. Hope you and your husband find some great ones! ๐
@missy94612 That's awesome that your husband is so involved and willing to try new things! I love that he masks with you!
I've been masking for so long, it's the weird ingredients that grab my attention more - it's fun looking for and researching the more unique masks..... gotta keep it interesting!
What's the most unique mask/ingredient you guys have tried so far?
My most unique would be snail, which I know isn't the most out of the ordinary. I like it, so does my husband. I have a bee venom one that looks interesting but I still a little anxious about it. I'm not allergic to bees but I think "venom" in the name is not helpful. lol.
@missy94612 Nice! Snail has become one of my most favorite skincare ingredients! I've only used masks with bee venom twice, and I was definitely a little hesitant the first time I tried it! Both times it turned out great though! ๐๐
I think I just need to take the plunge with the bee venom. ๐ Like I did with the snail mucin. ๐
@Shosh85 Sounds like a good mask. I wonder how they harvest the bee venom tho. Is it humane?
@Shosh85 Wow thatโs super interesting. Thanks for sharing. I would agree Iโm not sure how safe that is for bees.
@Shosh85 ethanol? Thatโsโฆ.interesting! Other than that, sounds like a lovely mask, especially with that light honey scent๐๐ฏ
@eshoe Yeah, this would've been a perfect mask if not for the ethanol! ๐
