This year is going to be a little different - simplified. Easy. Every month will have a new theme, and that's it. Feel free to join in whenever and wherever. Most importantly - have fun!

Spring Fling - Baskets and bouquets, showers of much-anticipated rain...this month's focus is herbal and floral sensory delights 💮

That's too bad about the first one, @haleyvvvv, you'd think you could at least get a decent amount of brightening out of a lemon mask. But the Rael sounds promising!

I was very surprised about the L'avore mask, @quspork!! I had heard good things. I have a couple other "flavors" of them and I'm curious if they're all like the lemon ones.

I don’t remember where I was when I first heard that, @PrettyPaint, but it comes to mind often now. Yesterday I made a special trip to Costco and picked up a supersize jar of colossal garlic and jalapeño-stuffed olives. The entire way home I was looking forward to opening that jar and enjoying a couple. After I parked, I went around to the trunk, opened the door and tumbling out and onto the concrete was my jar. I stood staring at it for a few seconds, kind of feeling pity for all of that pent up excitement I had. Swept everything up and shared it with my husband when he got home. It didn’t take him more than a second to say, “At least it didn’t break in the house.” 🍋

@eshoe  hahah. I totally know that feeling. I've spent lots of time making a yummy treat only to drop it on the floor. 

I am tired and totally misread what you wrote at first: "Swept everything up and shared it with my husband" - I interpreted as literally sweeping up the olives from the ground and sharing/giving them to your husband to eat. 🙂

L is for last week's theme, BIC inspired masking - The Gastropods and Escar Go Go's world tour! 🐌

Slowly, but surely, The Gastropods and Escar Go Go's have arrived for the US leg of their world tour! 😀

While some products are manufactured in South Korea, these snail centric masks are from U.S. based brands - with New York, Texas and California being the home states for these three masks from US brands (and the non-sheet masks ones) are women founded and BIPOC brands. I had zero expectation of finding 3 snail masks from US brands when I started down the rabbit hole of this world tour! 🐌 Without further adieu, let's bring the bands on stage! 😉

Wash Off Mask - Peach Slices Snail Rescue Intensive Wash-Off Mask:

Peach Slices Snail Rescue Intensive Wash-Off Mask has a jelly-like texture. It takes some effort to get the product out of the tub; including a spatula in the box wouldn't be a bad idea. The product is unscented, applies smoothly but feels tacky once applied. I'd say it has a medium-to-high tackiness to it that remains even after 20 minutes, which is about the time the product has absorbed into the skin - the tack once absorbed has definitely diminished but is still noticeable. It feels comfortable and refreshing on the skin. Skin looks hydrated and more plump, bouncy and feels soft and smooth. I noticed some of the redness around my nose and cheeks were visibly reduced, always a plus! I didn't expect to like this one as much as I do, which is definitely not a bad thing. 

Sheet Mask - Facetory oh my GOODNESS Rejuvenating Snail Mask:

🐌  f(x): Rejuvenating, anti-aging, helps to alleviate dryness and inflammation

🐌  Key INCI: snail mucin (hydrating and healing) + shea butter (moisturizing, protects skin barrier, softens skin)

🐌  Brand Origin: USA (California)

🐌  Material: Rayon sheet - soft, leans thicker than your classic cotton sheet but not as thin as a Tencel fiber mask.

🐌  Adherence: Good

🐌  Fit: Standard fit; smidge large along the perimeter; minor adjustments needed at corners of eyes and mouth openings.

🐌  Essence: Clear, watery but not runny; light-to-medium viscosity; absorbs easily into skin

🐌  Scent: Fresh, plus something else

🐌  Performance + Results: Sheet feels comfortable; no tack or sticky residue after 30 minutes of wear. Skin feels soft, hydrated and bouncy. Redness around my nose and cheeks appear reduced and complexion has a healthy glow to it. 

🐌  Repurchase?: Maybe. There's a lot of competition out there for a good snail mask. This one is nice; I would use it again if I had one, though it's not one I'd consider at the top of my gastropod list.

Overnight / Sleeping Mask - Lovinah Royal Jelly Hydrating Overnight Mask:

This light, cream-gel melts beautifully into the skin and boasts a plethora of beautiful skin care ingredients - royal jelly, peptides, snail mucin and bakuchiol, to name just a few. Those who prefer a really thick cream for an overnight mask might not care for the texture on this mask. I didn't pick up a scent.  I was skeptical when I first scooped out some of the product but needn't have been. The product applies easily and absorbs quickly.  There's zero tack, no stickiness to this mask. Results-wise, my complexion looked soft, smooth, and hydrated the next morning. Comes with a very cute (and convenient) spatula.

My initial impressions are that this seems like it could be a nice overnight mask for the spring/summer/early fall, but I want to give it a lengthier trial first, which is just what I'll do. Who knows?! Maybe that will be a springboard to a reunion tour with The Gastropods and Escar Go Go's. 

The Gastropods and Escar Go Go's thank you for being part of their first ever world tour! A sincere "Thank you!" to @PrettyPaint for such a fabulous theme and to @twilightnicky for the super cute Escar Go Go's band name - a perfect tour companion for The Gastropods! This was a lot of fun for me. Don't be surprised if there will be encore performances popping up during the rest of the year! 😉

@Shosh85, I'll pretty much take any opportunity to use a gastropod mask, or I'll find a way to make an opportunity for snail masking. 😆 Both the non-sheet masks are wonderful; the peach slices one is a new favorite - stickiness aside (it eventually does go away), it hydrates my skin really well - noticeable difference! 🐌

Thank YOU @PrettyPaint, for such an awesome theme! Without it, The Gastropods and Escar Go Go’s might have never been.  It’s been a nice springboard for exercising some creativity. And I mean, this can’t be the last we hear of The Gastropods! 🐌

What a fun line-up, @itsfi! You're right about there being some stiff competition out there for a good snail mask, but these all sound like they turned out well!

@quspork, the band name theme has really brought a smile to my face, and given me more opportunities to try out snail masks. 😉 Happy that there are a good amount of gastropod masks out there for me to try. 🐌 While there are new ones to love, I also find that it can be hard to beat the oldies but goodies. ♥️

@eshoe, there’s a lot of product in the peach slices mask so you’ll get a lot of bang for your buck with it. 👍🏼 Not sure which site you’ll pick it up from but Ulta sometimes has a buy one get one half off for peach slices. The toner from the line is good too and the moisturizer is alright.

Thank you for the feedback on some of their other offerings, @itsfi. I need to restock my hydrating/calming/no frills masks and thought this would be a great add in to my stash. Sounds like it is just right!
