Mask of the Week Misc. Info & Previous Year's Links:

To Post:

Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas.

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜Œ Mask of the Week Challenge ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ’–

@Samtian oh no on the mess!

Re: ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜Œ Mask of the Week Challenge ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ’–

@Kim888 Haha it was certainly and adventure.

Re: ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜Œ Mask of the Week Challenge ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ’–

I love this mask @Samtian๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿฏ I think it may be my favorite mask from The Oozoo brand; or if it doesn't occupy the top spot, it's definitely right up there! I'm sorry it left you with an oily forehead and that some of it found its way into your mouth. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ It's always a plus when you can pop that capsule, but it feels like a lot of effort is required to o that! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Re: ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜Œ Mask of the Week Challenge ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ’–

@itsfi Too much effort lol.

Re: ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜Œ Mask of the Week Challenge ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ’–

Playing catch up for a few masks over the last couple of weeks:

1. Dewytree Blooming Ginseng- Loved this one. It has a strong ginseng scent which I love but if you're not a fan of strong scents in general or don't care for ginseng, that's something to watch out for. It left my skin hydrated and feeling nourished. It's a shame I don't see it for sale anywhere besides ebay now (of course), but I would totally buy it again if it wasn't discontinued.

2. Instree Hyaluronic Acid mask- This one is just ok. I don't love it as much as some other Isntree masks, but it fit alright and did offer hydration so I can't complain too much about it. I would use it again, but won't be running to repurchase.

3. Beyond Intensive Ampoule Propolis mask- Another good but not great mask. It's a medium thickness cotton sheet with a noticeable woven pattern. The watery serum has a light powdery perfume scent. It added some hydration and a bit of brightness but also has a bit of tack to it after removal. It's not my favorite propolis mask (that honor probably goes to either Papa Recipe or Tosowoong) but it's a good performer. I would use it again if it crossed my path, but I won't purposefully seek it out.

4. Acure Brightening Under Eye Hydrogels- Unfortunately, these just did not stay put, sliding every which way. They also offered no brightening effect. They may have reduced some puffiness slightly, but that's about it. Wouldn't use again.

5. Kina Marine Complex mask- This one is pretty interesting with "17 botanical extracts, and a marine complex made with kombu (kelp), algae, and collagen." It was a comfortable fit and I was able to wear it for a while without it drying out. My skin looked nicely hydrated after removal but I think it would require more consistent usage to get the full effect of the various extracts and complexes. I'd use this one again.

6. TonyMoly Prestige Jeju Snail Mask- Thank you to @itsfi for sending me this one a while back. I will be the first to admit that I'm not usually a fan of TM sheet masks. They just tend to be poor fits and underperformers for me. But this one was actually pretty excellent. The fit was still a bit off for me, but the cotton sheet was comfortable and easily manipulated to make it work. And there was a ton of serum! I feel like I had this mask for quite a long time and it didn't dry out. I felt very moisturized after removing the sheet and my skin felt pretty soft and supple, so I'd definitely use this one again.

Re: ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜Œ Mask of the Week Challenge ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ’–

Iโ€™ve found the Beyond masks to be underwhelming too, @quspork. I loved that Dewytree too, what a blah ale itโ€™s been discontinued! Makes me think a good ginseng lip scrub might be good๐Ÿค”

Re: ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜Œ Mask of the Week Challenge ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ’–

This Beyond was just meh @eshoe but I have really liked the Herb Garden line that they have. Although those can be pretty fragrant so I can understand why they wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea.

Re: ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜Œ Mask of the Week Challenge ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ’–

@quspork  Wow great lineup!

Re: ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜Œ Mask of the Week Challenge ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ’–

Thanks, @ather!

Re: ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜Œ Mask of the Week Challenge ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ’–

@quspork  TM is a funny one for me as well. There are some lines that I enjoy and fit decently, but others that are completely off. I've always been surprised at how different some of their masks are.

Re: ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜Œ Mask of the Week Challenge ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ’–

It was certainly nice to see a good one from the brand, @PrettyPaint

Re: ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜Œ Mask of the Week Challenge ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ’–

@quspork I've always liked the kina masks, I found a pack at tj maxx awhile back,, hopefully they can get some at marshalls ๐Ÿ˜Œ

Re: ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜Œ Mask of the Week Challenge ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ’–

It's always nice when good masks show up at TJs or Marshalls, @lmaster. Who doesn't love a good deal?!

Re: ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜Œ Mask of the Week Challenge ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ’–

Booooo to discontinued good masks, @quspork!! The Kina one looks interesting and so nice to hear about a good Tony Moly sheet mask!!

Re: ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜Œ Mask of the Week Challenge ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ’–

I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for a possible restock on the ginseng, @haleyvvvv - ya never know!

Re: ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜Œ Mask of the Week Challenge ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ’–

@quspork  Why is it always the masks we love the most that get discontinued?! I hate when that happens! โ˜น๏ธ

I feel the same way as you about Tony Moly masks, but I do remember liking that one as well! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Re: ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜Œ Mask of the Week Challenge ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ’–

Every time, @Shosh85 every time- that's part of why I stay so fickle with a lot of masks. You get attached and then bam- discontinued!

Re: ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜Œ Mask of the Week Challenge ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ’–

Great strategy @quspork, because it is so true!

Re: ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜Œ Mask of the Week Challenge ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ’–

@quspork, I completely agree with you on that Dewytree ginseng mask! โ™ฅ๏ธ Masksheets dot com occasionally restocks masks from that Dewytree line.

Yaaay! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ Iโ€™m happy to hear the TonyMoly snail mask was a win for you! Iโ€™m not always the biggest fan of TM sheet masks but the gastropod ๐ŸŒ was calling me. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I wasnโ€™t expecting much from the mask when I first picked it up (even though the sales associate was raving about it) so I only grabbed one ... and then after I tried it and realized what a fabulous mask it was, I waited for months for the boutique to restock it! I didnโ€™t take any chances and grabbed a handful for myself and for gifts. I was really pleasantly surprised by how well it performed! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

Re: ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜Œ Mask of the Week Challenge ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ’–

@itsfi The TM was a very pleasant surprise. Thanks again for sending it my way!

Re: ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜Œ Mask of the Week Challenge ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ’–

Its still Sunday night for me, so I'm counting as the first week still.

Both the PineApple and Avacado masks count toward "A" masks that need to be used right away (the Avocado Holika Holika mask expires on the 6th ๐Ÿ˜…).

Hanalei masks - Pear was the standout here, but both of these are lovely. Neither of them have an overwhelming scent and both have an okay fit. Tons of serum, like glop a bunch on the floor and am still able to cover my upper body with serum. A bit tacky, but I wear before (in) bed, so I don't mind. I got these with Ipsy add-ons (before I cancelled because they dislike their Canadian customers), with a few others and they've all been winners. I would definitely pick up if I could find.

Pear - A-

Pineapple - B (could have more brightening ingredients, but was brightening and hydrating so wins for doing both).

Holika Holika Avacado Mask - I snagged this out of the MOTM box because I wanted to try the brand. I grabbed for use thinking it was a nourishing mask, but was confused by the firming note. It is definitely nourishing a leaves my skin a bit bouncy. I'm just not sure what would be firming in the ingredients. Not too much scent, easy package (I really like how these masks open), okayish-good fit. Glad I tried. Would pick up another "flavor" from this brand but wouldn't buy this one unless a great deal. B-

Package Everyday Bouncy - Gosh, this is cute packaging. Claims to make skin glowing and bouncing and it overall does, but not, like exceedingly. Nice tencil sheet. Okayish fit. Fair bit of serum. A scent, but dissipates quickly. B. [Can I count this as my band name mask too, lol?  Everyday Bouncy sounds like a fun band].

boscia Luminizing Black Charcoal Mask 2.8 oz/ 80 g - I think I've had this open for a while now, so I want to use it up as I'm sure I'm approaching the POA date. I don't love these peel off type masks as much I have in the past, but this is one of my faves. I think using it once a month or so is how I'm going to proceed forward. Sundays are my deep clean charcoal mask days and for most of the year I've been using one that I don't like, so the last month or so, I've just been avoiding it and so felt that a good charcoal peel off was just what my skin needed. And it was great, made my skin look clearer and just felt nicer.

Some masks I've used recent ish but can't remember how they were beyond the Sweet Dreams mask having a lot of a scent. I have multiples of these, so I'll be using again soon.
