Spoiler

To Post:

Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas.

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

Major shame on the scent for this one, @lmaster. Too bad it didn't work out!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@quspork at times I can let a scent go, but the overall claims were not even met here ๐Ÿ˜ฃ

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

Same, @lmaster - for totally wowing results, I can look the other way on a less than desirable scent, but if the mask doesn't perform that well, then it just gets added to the list of reasons to not repurchase haha.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

I meant to use this mask last week for G is for Gotu Kola (aka centella asiatica aka cica) but didn't get a chance to use it so I used it this week, which means it's a U for ummm.... and unsure (if this is bio-cellulose).
KNC Big Chill.jpg
KNC Beauty Big Chill Face Mask with Aloe + Gotu has the same fit (small, but malleable), adherence (great) and wearability as the KNC Beauty Big Drip Face Mask with Irish Sea Moss + Marula Oil. I pick up a clean, fresh, almost signature sheet mask scent to it. Performance-wise, this Big Chill version, as its name would suggest, felt cool on my skin while worn (though that could have also been due to it being cold the other night). Like the Big Drip version, my skin felt lightly hydrated with this mask. My skin was pretty calm to begin with so I can't really speak to how soothing the cica in this mask might have been.

Now, after having used two masks from this line, I'm still not certain that this is as claimed, a bio-cellulose mask. This time I took a pic and tried to get the pic to show up (see spoiler). It looks less bio-cellulose and more hydrogel to me. What say you? I'm interested in hearing your thoughts. I have one more mask in the set and I think I may compare and contrast it with what I know to be a hydrogel mask, specifically, the discontinued Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Jelly Sheet Mask.

Does this look like a bio-cellulose mask?

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@itsfi  Hmmm, I'm not quite sure what I think this looks like, but I not so sure I'd say biocellulose. Maybe it's some kind of hybrid - like a cross between both ๐Ÿ˜‚ @quspork made a good point about the slip - I think that's a great way to distinguish between the two!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

Yeah @Shosh85, I think I'm of the same mindset. I personally don't think it's bio-cellulose, but there's probably shares enough characteristics of both bio-cellulose and hydrogel that slotting it into one category might not be accurate. I have one more from the set so I'll try to pay closer attention when I reach for that one.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

I just used a gel mask from sc @itsfi and it was definitely gel, yours absolutely looks like biocellulose!!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

okay well dang @itsfi that mask sure is see through!  I have no idea what material it is, but it's the first I've seen that's completely see though.

How do you like the Milk lip mask?  I mean other than for the incredible matching packaging lol.  I've been crushing on Milk of late and have hesitated on the mask, for some reason I have it in my head that it smells floral?  Not that I need to be buying more lip masks ( I suspect I have enough open for the next 5-10 years) but do I need this??

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@missjeanie, the MILK lip balm has a subtle lavender scent to it. You know I love me my lip balms. Even so, I donโ€™t usually repurchase a lip balm (mainly because I already have a healthy amount lol) unless itโ€™s for a gift, but I would repurchase this one, as a gift for myself and for others. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ It is a very photogenic lip mask as well as being one that absorbs quickly and hydrates my lips. Itโ€™s less thick and tacky than the Laneige lip masks. I have both on my nightstand and itโ€™s typically this or the Laneige that I use right before calling it a night.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@itsfi  Itโ€™s exactly your love of balms that pushed me to ask about this one. I knew youโ€™d have a good comparison! Iโ€™m currently alternating my night time balm between the old version of the bite lip mask (my favourite), the Mamonde lip mask, and the bkr. I do still have my original leneige on my night stand, but at this point itโ€™s more of a relic that I keep around for postรฉritรฉs sake. This one for me just never lived up to the hype. Iโ€™m thinking since the milk ranks so highly for you and my affinity for the brand has been growing.... Iโ€™m gonna need it. Lol

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@itsfi That is trippy looking.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

I know right @Samtian?! I havenโ€™t seen other sheet masks looking like this. Interestingly, it also had a slightly tacky/sticky feeling to it, which I donโ€™t usually get from a sheet mask after itโ€™s dry. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@itsfi huh, that sure is interesting!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

How was the slip against your skin, @itsfi? For some of the more gel-like biocellulose I feel like sometimes that's the biggest difference for me- the bio is usually snug and adheres like a second skin while a hydrogel has a bit more slip to it. It does feel like there's a wide variety in what gets called biocellulose across masks!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

Excellent point and question @quspork! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ This was a little slippery to work with which adds more to the โ€œthis feels more like a hydrogel maskโ€ position, but itโ€™s not as slippery as some hydrogels Iโ€™ve used. I hadnโ€™t thought of the expansiveness of the โ€œbio-celluloseโ€ category; thatโ€™s a really good call.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@itsfi that sounds really nice in terms of results! I agree, it looks more like a gel mask to me!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

The results from both the KNC Beauty masks Iโ€™ve tried have been good @Kim888, always a plus. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

F is for Farmskin. F is also for favorite, because out of the 12 I've tried, it's the one I enjoy the most ๐Ÿฏ

Farmskin Superfood Salad Illuminating Honey Mask

This is a thin cotton sheet mask that was loaded with a milky serum and had a light and yummy honey scent. The fit was pretty good - not quite wide enough by the ears and a little too long at the chin/jawline. I kept it on for about a half hour. There wasn't any tackiness after removing and my face felt comfortably hydrated and looked less dull. My skin felt soft and smooth and had a nice glow.

This is a love for me and a definite repurchase! ๐Ÿฏ
