Welcome to the 2024 Masking Challenge!
This year is going to be a little different - simplified. Easy. Every month will have a new theme, and that's it. Feel free to join in whenever and wherever. Most importantly - have fun!
Spring Fling - Baskets and bouquets, showers of much-anticipated rain...this month's focus is herbal and floral sensory delights ๐ฎ
January | Fresh Starts - Time for a re-set, or morning masking? However you see it, this month is all about new beginnings. |
February | Winter Love - Whether it's a mask you adore, or something extra-special to care for dry winter skin, this month is for some soothing TLC. |
March | March Madness - Competition is in the air! Find a $ dupe of a $$$ mask that is share-worthy? Or find a dupe that works even better than the original? Details, please! |
April | Spring Fling - Baskets and bouquets, showers of much-anticipated rain...this month's focus is herbal and floral sensory delights. |
May | Dew Drops - May Day lore says to wash your face in the dew you collect in the morning of the first day of May for radiant skin. This month is for absorbing all of that good-for-you H2O. |
June | Summer Sunshine - Ice cream, sunglasses, SPF, check! Once the sun is down (or before it's up), extra care is most necessary. How do you give your skin cooling repair? |

Thank you @Aaliaa for starting this thread, and giving us a place to share our love for masks๐
@ShortErica Your cause could be completely different from mine, but I suspect youโre allergic to it. Your symptoms sound exactly like what I had and it was an awful experience. Similarly, I tried to identify what ingredient could be the issue, including lanolin, but it was a futile road for me. If I were you, Iโd stop using it and try other products. The moment you get similar symptoms from a new product, id stop, return it if possible, and try something else when your lips have recovered. Itโs the best advice I can give as someone whoโs suffered through the same thing for years. I actually have permanent lip scarring/splits because of it. Wish I figured it out before the damage was permanent. Unfortunately, I was too young to know better and thought my reactions were from the cold winter, so I slathered even more on for months.
Thanks for this push @pinyo. I'm going to toss it. My brain always loves experiments but permanent damage is not worth the risk. I'm sorry you didn't find the culprit. I'll have to save the ingredients and if something else causes a reaction, compare its ingredients to get closer to a solution. Thanks again!

@missjeanie Yeah, I feel your pain with the 10-packs! I've told myself I'm not aloud to buy them unless I know I absolutely love it.
Happy to hear the Annie's Way was decent! I have several packs to get through, and I've heard the other varieties smell good too so it's nice to know I have that to look forward to. ๐๐
10 packs... I swear they're such a love/hate relationship @Shosh85 lol
@missjeanie What did we do before we were able to Google a question? Asked someone? Grabbed the dictionary or encyclopedia? Itโs almost impossible to comprehend that kind of world now.
Love those hydrogels, they are so pretty, too!
Oh @eshoe I remember going through the encyclopedias and the card catalogues at the library to research in elementary and a bit in high school. Actually I remember even using them in university! My old lady statement for the day ... "kids these days don't know how easy they have it with google right on their phones". lol
Nice lineup here!! Love the Annie's way!! @missjeanie
@lmaster Iโll keep happily using the Annieโs way for the yummy scents alone! They totally make the experience for me!
Yeah, the no thinking masks are moving up my personal rank @missjeanie. I still want to be cautious of 10 packs but it's great to discover our preferences with all this masking. Great job on your 2 a days!
Right @ShortErica I'm hoping no one takes my 'no thinking masks' as a bad thing. I see them as an easy option when I look at a totally overwhelming collection where I know I'll be happy.
โI've used another 1 of these masks -it had different botanicals...but that one had Undesirable effects on my eyes. It may them sting so Ive been hesitant to use again but...did anyway. ๐
Fit?not bad, usual extra in the chin. (I'm going to think of a cute name for that...make it more entertaining๐ค) i did end up ripping the above lip part in half, it was falling down into my mouth.
Smell?faint tea tree.
Consistency?thin, clear serum. Saturated enough that it did run into the corner of my eye from the mask ๐ฌ but luckily no sting
Ease of use?no issues after I ripped away the lip part
Would I purchase/try again? This was expired, but still smelled ok so I used it anyway. TT is good for blemishes which i currently have on my jaw line- & it seemed to help calm every thing. & soaked in without tack. I wonder if it was fresher would of it had stung like the other one? ๐ค but either way this one was a good calming mask. ๐๐๐๐๐ if I got it in my ipsy again. I would use it, sooner than later๐ค
Mamonde lip sleeping mask in plum blossom. Smells good, good hydration but woke up with a lil itty bitty dream killer right by my lip. ๐ณ so will use again to see if it caused or this sample will be finished off during the day.
Iโve wanted to try that Mamonde @sonnydee but didnโt want to spend the $ unless it had a plummy scent. A dream killer, though? Did it cause peeling?
No, no peeling just that lil pesky whitehead that is nonsense really. Ya know the kind that pops immediately & its done & over with. Usually happens when something was just a lil too much-oily, thicker serum- for my skin. Hence the name, dream killers ๐ I used it again last night with no issues @eshoe it does have a scent to it. I looked it up:
Plum blossoms are very fragrant with a scent described as spicy, sweet and flowery. The blossoms are entirely edible.
I agree with this description, it's fruity but also tart think pomegranate. They have a pomegranate one that I'm pretty tempted to get even though I don't need anymore lip masks. ๐They are not as thick as og bite but thicker than laneige
Yikes Iโve never heard that term but itโs funny and I know exactly what you are talking about @sonnydee! It does sound like one I should try, when I finally use up my Bite and Laneige stash. The never-ending masks.
It's one I made up @eshoe that or dk. I want to think of a name for the extra part of the mask that is forever on the chin area. .....๐ค gotta think on it.
Yes Iโd love to hear what you come up with @sonnydee ๐
Yeah, it is 1 that's featured in the ulta mask must haves masking set. I hauled it fairly recently - this month, ๐ค looking for my pic....there it is! It has some new to me, some different...tula is in there. @lmaster
