Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@sonnydee that's a cool set!!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@sonnydee so glad this one didn't sting your eyes!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

Me too! 🤗 but it very well could be the scent & oils were diluted at this point. Still smelled ok, so I gave it a go! 😉 @missjeanie I have 1 more that came in the set from ipsy. I have a bin that I started this month, placing the ones that need to be gone now & I'm trying to empty that before the new year. So I may not be able to go with the theme each week 🤷 but I'm killing my stash.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@sonnydee the 'needs to go now' bin sounds like a good idea.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

Shouldve started it sooner @missjeanie

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

Lol... @sonnydee  you’re telling me! I feel like even attempting to get a ´use now, these are going to expire soon’ may be a grand undertaking over here that I’m just not mentally prepared for lol! You’re a step ahead!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

Oh don't kid yourself @missjeanie the ones that are in my use now are already expired 😂 they are upright, the ones that I want to use-fit the week theme, look interesting, etc. they are in there too but on their side. I'll take a pic when I can...😉

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@sonnydee This just made my day!  I'm not afraid of an expired mask either lol

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

I meant to use this mask last week for G is for Gotu Kola (aka centella asiatica aka cica) but didn't get a chance to use it so I used it this week, which means it's a U for ummm.... and unsure (if this is bio-cellulose).
KNC Big Chill.jpg
KNC Beauty Big Chill Face Mask with Aloe + Gotu has the same fit (small, but malleable), adherence (great) and wearability as the KNC Beauty Big Drip Face Mask with Irish Sea Moss + Marula Oil. I pick up a clean, fresh, almost signature sheet mask scent to it. Performance-wise, this Big Chill version, as its name would suggest, felt cool on my skin while worn (though that could have also been due to it being cold the other night). Like the Big Drip version, my skin felt lightly hydrated with this mask. My skin was pretty calm to begin with so I can't really speak to how soothing the cica in this mask might have been.

Now, after having used two masks from this line, I'm still not certain that this is as claimed, a bio-cellulose mask. This time I took a pic and tried to get the pic to show up (see spoiler). It looks less bio-cellulose and more hydrogel to me. What say you? I'm interested in hearing your thoughts. I have one more mask in the set and I think I may compare and contrast it with what I know to be a hydrogel mask, specifically, the discontinued Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Jelly Sheet Mask.

Does this look like a bio-cellulose mask?

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@itsfi  Hmmm, I'm not quite sure what I think this looks like, but I not so sure I'd say biocellulose. Maybe it's some kind of hybrid - like a cross between both 😂 @quspork made a good point about the slip - I think that's a great way to distinguish between the two!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

Yeah @Shosh85, I think I'm of the same mindset. I personally don't think it's bio-cellulose, but there's probably shares enough characteristics of both bio-cellulose and hydrogel that slotting it into one category might not be accurate. I have one more from the set so I'll try to pay closer attention when I reach for that one.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

I just used a gel mask from sc @itsfi and it was definitely gel, yours absolutely looks like biocellulose!!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

okay well dang @itsfi that mask sure is see through!  I have no idea what material it is, but it's the first I've seen that's completely see though.

How do you like the Milk lip mask?  I mean other than for the incredible matching packaging lol.  I've been crushing on Milk of late and have hesitated on the mask, for some reason I have it in my head that it smells floral?  Not that I need to be buying more lip masks ( I suspect I have enough open for the next 5-10 years) but do I need this??

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@missjeanie, the MILK lip balm has a subtle lavender scent to it. You know I love me my lip balms. Even so, I don’t usually repurchase a lip balm (mainly because I already have a healthy amount lol) unless it’s for a gift, but I would repurchase this one, as a gift for myself and for others. 😃 It is a very photogenic lip mask as well as being one that absorbs quickly and hydrates my lips. It’s less thick and tacky than the Laneige lip masks. I have both on my nightstand and it’s typically this or the Laneige that I use right before calling it a night.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@itsfi  It’s exactly your love of balms that pushed me to ask about this one. I knew you’d have a good comparison! I’m currently alternating my night time balm between the old version of the bite lip mask (my favourite), the Mamonde lip mask, and the bkr. I do still have my original leneige on my night stand, but at this point it’s more of a relic that I keep around for postérités sake. This one for me just never lived up to the hype. I’m thinking since the milk ranks so highly for you and my affinity for the brand has been growing.... I’m gonna need it. Lol

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@itsfi That is trippy looking.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

I know right @Samtian?! I haven’t seen other sheet masks looking like this. Interestingly, it also had a slightly tacky/sticky feeling to it, which I don’t usually get from a sheet mask after it’s dry. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@itsfi huh, that sure is interesting!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

How was the slip against your skin, @itsfi? For some of the more gel-like biocellulose I feel like sometimes that's the biggest difference for me- the bio is usually snug and adheres like a second skin while a hydrogel has a bit more slip to it. It does feel like there's a wide variety in what gets called biocellulose across masks!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

Excellent point and question @quspork! 😃 This was a little slippery to work with which adds more to the “this feels more like a hydrogel mask” position, but it’s not as slippery as some hydrogels I’ve used. I hadn’t thought of the expansiveness of the “bio-cellulose” category; that’s a really good call.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge

@itsfi that sounds really nice in terms of results! I agree, it looks more like a gel mask to me!
