Mask of the Week Misc. Info & Previous Year's Links:

To Post:

Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas.

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Yes, there a couple different ones, and the honey/aloe is such a nice one, @eshoe!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

That aloe & honey! They make eye gels in the same formula too @quspork thanks @@itsfi

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

That's good to know about the eye gels, @sonnydee!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@quspork  I loved the Merbliss Nurse Healing mask, so I'm happy to hear the Aloe & Honey is getting such great reviews! Aloe and Honey definitely seem like a great combo! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Glad you enjoyed the Purlisse mask! I think it might be my most favorite watermelon mask! ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ˜‹

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Yes, it's hard to go wrong with a good aloe and honey combo, @Shosh85!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Tonight's mask fits all themes- inspired by BIC & both of the letters M & N

Mahalo the bean mask, inspired by @eshoe & also heard about this brand from one of the few youtubers that I watched (they are since, fewer still๐Ÿ˜•) but it is New to me.

Fit?its a wash off mask. You apply it to your face while damp

Smell?you really smell the coffee, it is muted but it's there

Consistency?mud with grounded coffee in it. It's dark (think coffee) but you can add/take away depending on how opaque you want the mask to be. I want to make my sample stretch but I used about 2 dimes sized worth. It dries down but remains very comfortable on. Doesn't tighten up.

Ease of use?no issues, washes off fairly easy with warm water. No cloth needed. I left this on for 30 min.

Would I  purchase/try again? Yes, & im trying not to buy the fs until I finish the sample but this mask performed excellent- exfoliated but hydrated at the same time. Dare i say a miracle worker, I had some texture on my cheek & it's gone! ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ–ค

Thank goodness they offer minis now, because this mask is expensive! ๐Ÿค‘thank you @@eshoe for letting us know about the minis

Oh, also used my mint chocolate mini laneige

It's not letting me add pics. ๐Ÿ˜•will try again tomorrow.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@sonnydee  Happy to hear you got such great results from this one! I really enjoyed this one as well! Have you tried anything else from the brand?

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I got a petal mask mini too but saving that when my face "needs" it. Tomorrow is a beach day so it might get taken out then @Shosh85 ๐Ÿ–

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@sonnydee this is a unique mask, one of the most interesting Iโ€™ve tried! Iโ€™ve watched the video and apparently there is some stringyness that goes on when you use it as directed. Itโ€™s only worked once for me but I am going to give it another try soon. Her products have some scent which might not be for everyone. I want to give the Bean another go, too.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I didn't watch the video but the pics have the mask pretty thick...maybe thats when the stringyness happens? @eshoe do you get a brush when you buy the fs masks? I haven't found where you can buy the brush or if it comes with it?

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I am unsure, @sonnydee. I bought the travel size, and Iโ€™m not going thru it as quickly as I thought I would. I donโ€™t want to pick up the FS as I doubt I could go through that huge jar in six months. The website makes it appear to come with a brush, though๐Ÿค”

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Yea,it's pictured with it. For that price, it better come with something! Did you get the mini or is there a travel size bigger than the mini that i havent found? @eshoe

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I first tried it through the Detox Marketโ€™s sample program, and that size is similar to a foil @sonnydee. The one I have now is the mini on her site, I think it was $20-something for 10ml?

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Yea, thats the one I have too @eshoe

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Once I finish a few others, I'm definitely going to grab the mini mahalo!! @sonnydee

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Pick it up sooner than later. Theres a note on the site that the minis won't be permanent. @lmaster

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@sonnydee awwww booooo

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

The Mahalo mask always sounds nice whenever it pops up, @sonnydee, so I'm glad to hear it worked out well for you too!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Me too! @quspork definitely going to be a good one to add into my routine

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Went with a green theme, as I continue working my way through the rainbow theme. These also fit into this week's letters of the week themes, with an O for Origins, as well as a sheet mask with an odious scent for my taste, a slightly ocean-scented resurfacing treatment, and an overnight mask that happens to be an oldie (another O) and a love (an L), and some TLC for the lips.

Green rainbow.jpeg

The wash-off masks and the Glow Recipe Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask are ones Iโ€™ve used before and enjoy. Glow Recipe no longer makes this overnight mask; the new version contains retinol, which my skin can be very sensitive to so itโ€™s not one Iโ€™ll likely pick up. The original version is a moisturizing overnight mask for my skin in the cooler months. It makes a nice follow up to Peach & Lily Super Reboot Resurfacing Mask, which Iโ€™ve been using weekly on my chin and along my jawline to keep my pores clean and clear. Itโ€™s a 10% AHA / 0.5% BHA formulation with a soft floral and lightly oceanic scent; and just look at that color!!! Is it blue? Green? A combination of both? Probably the latter, but to keep to my green color of the rainbow theme, weโ€™ll say itโ€™s more green. lol.

While it may be a stretch to say the Peach & Lily mask is green in color, thereโ€™s no doubting the green color of the Sephora Collection The Seaweed Mask, an one-piece, ill-scented hydrogel mask that is one of the better fitting sheet masks for my face shape and features. Thatโ€™s rare but this will not be a repurchase for me โ€“ the scent on this mask is fortunately, not strong, but sadly, it is extremely unpleasant and it lingers a bit longer than I cared. It reminds me of the stinky smell from the kelp that washes up on the beach and the various rotting organisms tied up in the kelp. Ick. If that werenโ€™t enough to steer me away from this mask again (it is!), the irritation my skin experienced most certainly is.

The redness eventually went away and I did use Origins Hello, Calm mask to help it along. I initially received a sample of the Hello, Calm before it launched, and after using it, I've picked up a full size and this prom size as well. I know that many are not fond of the scent on the scent on this Origins mask, but it is so much better than the scent on the seaweed mask and the mask is both calming for my senses and my face.

Lip care included the Smashbox Mindful 5 Nourishing Lip Oil in the morning and the LabNo Cicaloe Intensive Lip Balm in the evening, both of which I've used before. The Smashbox Lip Oil isn't greasy, goopy, tacky or sticky; it is actually glides on more like a light balm-gloss than an oil and melts into the lips very easily. I like it as a prep for my lip products when I'm getting ready. The LabNo lip balm includes two ingredients I really like - centella asiatica and aloe - that work together to hydrate and soothe the lips. It actually feels more like a nourishing cream for the lips than a balm, and is one I'd recommend for those with very dry and/or sensitive lips.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@itsfi  Boo! Sorry the sheet mask didn't go so well! Thanks for saving me from buying this one - that scent alone would be a big fat NO for me too!
Have you tried The Creme Shop Sea Kelp Masquerade Eye Mask? I believe that one has brown algae in it and I was just curious if that caused a reaction for you. ๐Ÿค”
