Thank you @Aaliaa for starting this thread, and giving us a place to share our love for masks๐Ÿ’—

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@eshoe why do kids always have the best wording for things?! Too funny!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

They have no preconceptions,  @ShortErica. Itโ€™s good and humbling at the same time๐Ÿ˜‚

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Great choices for rainbow week!! @ShortErica I never realized the shooting stars had glitter.. Interesting!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

The package said something about shimmering pearl but I wasn't expecting glitter either @lmaster. If someone else uses it and it doesn't have glitter, I might question my sanity. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I'm going to have to search and see if I have one on hand... TBC @ShortErica ๐Ÿ˜†

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Yes @lmaster, for science!

Spoiler
@lmaster talked up this Pacifica Crystal Lava Bubbling Charcoal Mask, so I had to give it a try. This is a subtle watermelon-scented, lightweight gray charcoal mask that develops a nice little bubbling effect after application. It only took a few seconds, actually - before I finished applying it to my entire face, I felt a slight tingling. I left it on for about 10 minutes, waiting for the bubble 'explosion' which can happen with similar-type sheet masks. But no, just a very pleasant transition to foam. After rinsing (which was quick and easy), my skin felt smooth and appeared refreshed. Thanks for the tip, lmaster, love it!

The A'Pieu Icing Sweet Bar Sheet Mask (Hanrabong) is one I've been curious about after the reviews here; most especially, the scent. I expected some citrus, since I've read that it is a type of clementine. It was definitely different - like Christmas tree citrus cleaner? The fit was pretty off, the eyes were tiny so I made a couple of snips and all was ok. The mouth opening seemed oversize, which would have been ok if it were higher up. In my case, it opened all the way to under my chin. Not a huge deal, I was just surprised as I don't remember the other Sweet Icing masks having such an off fit. No biggie, my skin took well to it, and although a bit tacky afterward, it is still a mask I would happily use again if I wanted something with a very 'unique' scent ๐Ÿ˜‰

Spoiler

This is when I am so thankful for my skin journal! I've been using the re:p Bio Fresh Mask with Real Calming Herbs for awhile now, and find it to be a truly soothing mask. The consistency is a clay mask (thanks to the kaolin), but it doesn't really dry down. It starts to feel a bit tight, but that's it. It is suggested for sensitive skin/calming/redness, so I find myself reaching for it after derma planing. It has a soothing, soft herbal scent, with the chamomile really standing out. I like to have a couple of masks that I can use without putting much thought into my routine sometimes, and this one is a keeper.

The Premium Puresa Hydro Gel Mask was a treat from the lovely @heartsmyface (thank you so very much!). When I first started masking, I remember confusing biocellulose with hydrogel. Once I realized how different they are, I knew to prepare myself for the jellyfish...was that @sonnydee's observation, I believe? So accurate ๐Ÿ˜„ This one had a fresh, clean scent, and was sandwiched in between two protective layers. Like most hydro gel masks, it was split into two parts. I love that, and I wish more cotton masks were available in a similar format! I left the bottom on around 15 minutes, and the top about 25. Many hydro gels cause minor itching, though this one did not. My skin was a little plumped, and after completing my nighttime skincare, the remaining tack had dissipated. Another win for the slippery ones!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@eshoe Nice masks.  Loving the feedback from the calming herb mask

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Itโ€™s a good standby, @tjffc. And a huge jar! This is a good one to have on hand for rough skin days:)

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I've really enjoyed all the pacifica foam masks @eshoe happy to see you enjoyed it too ๐Ÿ™Œ

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

All of them, @lmaster? I didnโ€™t know there were more! Thanks for the heads up๐Ÿ˜‰

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Ok maybe just one more lol @eshoe

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Yum guess thatโ€™s on my list now @lmaster ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

The hydro gel mask sounds like a nice one @eshoe; the 2-piece ones usually are. Glad to hear this worked out for you.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

It really was enjoyable, @itsfi! So many hydro gels have a little something that can sidetrack the process..whether itchiness, or falling off altogether. This did neither:)

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

Itchiness @eshoe? I wonder if thereโ€™s something in the hydrogel material itself that your skin is not fond of? Hmmm... ๐Ÿค”

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I think some of the fibers might be scratchiest than others, @itsfi ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ As the itchiness is generally located around the edges, I think it depends on the finishing of the hems. At any rate, a two part mask is always a plus;)

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

That's awesome that your skincare journal is coming in handy @eshoe! I've been taking great mask notes in my spreadsheet but sometimes I forget to take notes on products until I empty them and then don't remember my true impressions while using them. Inspiration for keeping better track. Both have seemed good to me, but do you have a preference for biocellulose or hydro gel?

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

@ShortErica I have struggled with finding a good tracking system for myself that is easy and accessible so that I actually use it on a daily basis. I bought a cute pen and some color coordinated dots to create a

schedule so I donโ€™t over do it in certain areas. Itโ€™s helped me learn a few things I already suspected about my masking. Mainly that Iโ€™m driven by how I โ€˜feelโ€™/ what I sense my skin needs that day. The dots give me a good guideline and reminder of where I should be, but I donโ€™t make myself stick to it completely.

I love having everything in one place, and also the tactile side-having a book in my hands. I canโ€™t wait to look back over an entire year!

Pretty sure I prefer biocellulose, they adhere better (for the most part) and most feel like second skin. Where hydrogels really shine is the fact that they are two-part. Love that!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

That will be awesome to have an entire year of notes @eshoe!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge

I hope so, @ShortErica! After my last phone completely died without warning, Iโ€™ve reverted to an old-school record-keeping method๐Ÿ˜‰
