To Post:

Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas.

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@itsfi @WinglessOne  I like this kind of homework!!!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@ather There are 3 other varieties in Dewytree's 100 Mask line: birch, hibiscus, and quince. I'm not sure if any other brands make single-ingredient sheet masks, though.

A wine + masks Zoom even would be fun! I wish US state-level wine shipping laws weren't so ridiculous, so I could work out some wine sharing logistics for participants. ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@WinglessOne  Thanks for the info. I may need to look them up. I like the thought of 1 ingredient masks.

What are the rules for the wine shipping? I wonder if thereโ€™s rules against Canada shipping. Now I think about it I donโ€™t think itโ€™s allowed. More research is needed!! Maybe just a zoom wine and masking night would be fun!!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

Okay, this rating seems high so can you remind me if this is your highest rates cica mask or you have another favorite(s) @WinglessOne? Thank you!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@ShortErica At some point, I need to pit this mask directly against a few other cica masks. This is obviously the one that contains the most cica, but other masks have great supporting ingredients that cover other skin issues.

When it comes to the issue of irritation and inflammation, my favorite mask is still the Abib Mild pH Heartleaf Fit mask: that one's loaded with skin soothing ingredients, including cica. That Abib mask will be very hard to beat.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

Yes, I'd love for you to pit them against each other in the future @WinglessOne. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

Glad this one worked out well for you, @WinglessOne!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

Thanks @quspork ! You're the one who tried another Dewytree 100 mask, right? I couldn't remember who that was when I originally posted, otherwise I'd have tagged you. ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

I did try the quince version recently, @WinglessOne and liked it pretty well. I have the birch on hand to try at some point too. I have the absolute worst memory and almost always forget who it was I saw using what, LOL!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@WinglessOne how would you describe the scent?? I'm very curious

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@lmaster It has a green plant scent I can't easily compare to any other scent. Kinda like a mix of green leafy veg and almost pine. I guess some folks might find the scent slightly green medicinal? I'd still like to smell a cica plant for comparison, but this mask's scent was actually quite mild.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

Ok thank you @WinglessOne I think I have a better idea now!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@WinglessOne, flights of French and Argentinian Malbecs? I feel like I need to see if Argentina makes any masks (sheets or otherwise) to make a real go of a wine and sheet mask evening! ๐Ÿ˜‰  Hmmm ... ๐Ÿค” homework for me. But first, I must look for an Argentinian Malbec; not sure Iโ€™ve had one before.

Oh ... right, back to the sheet mask. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Dewytree has some very impressive masks. Love that this one is 100% Cica extract.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

I love this idea of a wine and mask pairing @itsfi !

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

We can thank @WinglessOne for the inspiration @missjeanie! Iโ€™m always interested in wine pairings; thatโ€™s typically involved food, but Iโ€™m completely open to expanding that to masks. ๐Ÿ˜‚ It may mean I have to sip my wine through a straw, which makes me cringe ๐Ÿ˜ฌ  a bit when I think about it, but if the wine and the masks are good, I can live with the cringe and the judgment that may follow. ๐Ÿ˜

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@itsfi Most Argentinian malbec you'll find in stores comes from the Mendoza area, but a couple other regions also produce good wines. If you've ever had a French malbec, expect the Argentinian version to be more fruit-forward and softer (less backbone). It's generally very tasty. It's a great red wine that nearly everyone likes, once they've tried itโ€”even folks who turn their noses up at "new world" wines. Malbec out of Argentina is getting more expensive each year, as those wines gain more popularity and notoriety. But one of my favorite things about these wines is how they illustrate that "more expensive" doesn't automatically mean "better."

ANYway... I also wondered if there are any sheet mask brands from Argentina. I couldn't think of one off the top of my head, so I added it to my rabbit hole list. If you fine one, let me know!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

Completely agree with you @WinglessOne  on pricing and quality - they are not necessarily reflective of the other. Iโ€™m sure Iโ€™ve had a Malbec or two at some point, ๐Ÿ˜ but itโ€™s probably been a while. I get set on certain varietals and havenโ€™t been venturing out to try new ones as often as I did previously. The Argentinian Malbecs sound like something I would enjoy.

Iโ€™ll be sure to keep you posted if I find an Argentinian mask. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ Would love to know if you discover anything going down that rabbit hole. ๐Ÿ˜‰ With my mask stash โ€œdwindlingโ€ down, Iโ€™ve been thinking of how I want to approach curating new masks.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@WinglessOne  Iโ€™m not a big wine drinker, but I love a good Malbec. I was lucky enough to work at a 5 diamond restaurant where the sommeliers allowed us to try all the wines... it was the best education in wine and was a huge benefit when I started officially learning more later in my career.
your comparison has me sold in this mask! And sold on needing to crack open some wine I have in the bar!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

That sounds like an amazing experience, @missjeanie! What a great way to not only be able to try all of the delicious wines but also learn from the professionals about their qualities.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

Wait, wait, wait . . . @missjeanie, you tried all the wines at a 5 diamond restaurant??!! *swoons ๐Ÿ˜ With the sommelier?!

(thinks about that again . . . *swoons) ๐Ÿคฉ

What an incredible opportunity! โ™ฅ๏ธ So happy to hear you were able to do that! ๐Ÿค—

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

lol @itsfi It was a lot of work at the time but it was a big introduction to the world of food for me, the start of a lovely career.  I look back on those memories with a big smile.  I actually just looked up the restaurant and it still has it's rating.  I'd love to go back some time once we're cool to travel again.
