Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

I'll have to check that one out! @itsfi

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

Blind Picks: Multi-masking edition with a F for favorites

(and a jump start on next week's "sheet mask focus" challenge)

I decided to do some more multi-masking last night and implemented another pseudo-random selection process. I grabbed three bags - in Bag #1, I put in a few wash-off masks that I knew would not irritate my skin as it recovers from a few spots. Bag #2 held a few pre-selected soothing sheet masks and Bag #3 contained several trial sized hair masks. Here are the trio of masks I drew:

Wash Off Mask:
Spoiler
Farmacy Honey Potion Renewing Antioxidant Hydration Mask is one of my favorite wash-off masks. The slight warming from the mask feels nice and relaxing, especially as it's cool outside. After about 25-30 minutes, I rinsed the mask off in the shower and with a microfiber wash cloth, and my skin felt soft, bouncy and hydrated.
Hair Mask:
Spoiler
After applying the Farmacy mask, I worked a bit of the Briogeo Don't Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask, another favorite of mine, through the length of my damp hair and I very lightly apply whatever remains on my hands of the mask to the crown. Then I cover my hair with a shower cap and wrap a towel around my head to keep the mask from dripping everywhere. This also helps to retain some of the heat from the shower, which helps the ingredients from the hair mask better absorb into my hair. I leave the mask on for about 20 minutes before rinsing it out of my hair while washing off the Farmacy mask.
Sheet Mask:
Spoiler
The Face Shop Dr. Belmeur Daily Repair Soothing Gauze Sheet Mask could also be a mask for tomorrow / next week's challenge, as the sheet mask material is a thin-ish, gauze-like fabric made with a patented lanseal technology and that adheres beautifully to the skin, like a soft, warm embrace. There's a rather unique feel to the mask - somewhat bouncy, stretchy and squishy at the same time. The mask is heavily saturated with a clear, thick-ish, jelly-like gel-serum that feels wet, but not runny. Interestingly, once you apply the mask, it feels like the gel-serum almost transforms into a more watery-like though still viscous essence - as if upon contact with the warmth of the skin, the gel thins itself out. Also interesting is the scent which seems to be light blend of fresh, subtly medicinal and slightly citrus-y scents.

Directions call for 20 minutes of wear time, but there's enough serum for double that amount of time. I left it on for 30 minutes and there was still quite a bit of serum remaining on my face when I removed the sheet. I also get a very slight tacky-to-the-touch feel to the skin immediately after it's absorbed all the essence, but it doesn't linger. As for the results, my dehydrated, combo skin that's slowly recovering from a bad reaction to a concealer could not be happier - the two largest and angriest spots near my chin look noticeably less angry, less red, and my skin feels hydrated and moisturized and looks refreshed and less dull.  This mask really does calm, soothe, nourish, refresh and brighten the skin. In keeping with the letters of the week, it's an F for fabulous and a U for the ultimate skin savior for dehydrated, dry, sensitive and irritated skin.

This mask is a definite repurchase - in fact, I would break my sheet mask no buy to do so, but fortunately I don't have to - I picked up a couple of these earlier this year, not realizing I already had one! Ha! I'd like to say I must have subconsciously knew I would like it and that's why I picked up multiple back-ups, but I'm sure I just forgot I already had this particular mask from the line. ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

These all sound wonderful @itsfi

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@itsfi  I love your strategy for blind picking! Looks/sounds like you picked a great trio! It's funny, "a soft warm embrace," is also how I'd describe the Honey Potion ๐Ÿ˜‰ Glad you had such a nice masking session!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

Oh my goodness, yes!! Youโ€™re so right about the Farmacy honey potion @Shosh85! ๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿ’› I really love that mask. Itโ€™s so good.

The โ€œblind pickโ€ challenge is such a fun one, but my skin can be so picky at times (or all the time, really), and it is especially that way now, that I canโ€™t just go into my stash at random to pick one out. It should be easier to do going forward with the new sheet mask organization system I have in mind, but that may mean no more โ€œcreativeโ€ ways to picking out a mask.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@itsfi "a soft warm embrace" ๐Ÿค— love that description

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

It feels so nice @lmaster! โ™ฅ๏ธ โ€œBlanketโ€, โ€œhugโ€, โ€œwarm embraceโ€, etc. - theyโ€™re my way of conveying calming, cozy comfort. ๐Ÿ˜

Have you tried the your peace.  Lanseal sheet masks?

EDE04F52-A3AE-4F56-AE53-6FC8C8A19DDE.jpeg

The material on the your peace. ones are so much thicker; Iโ€™d liken the feel to that โ€œahhhhโ€ that comes after climbing into bed and pulling a plush but weighted blanket over you - relaxing. The Dr. Belmeur is a lot thinner and instead of feeling like a weighted blanket, itโ€™s more like the throw you toss over yourself before hopping on the couch with a cup of tea or cocoa - calming and comforting.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@itsfi yes I have and they are the most luxurious mask I've tried to date!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@itsfi great masking - the briogeo hair mask is always so great!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

Agree @Kim888! My favorite of the Briogeo hair mask is the LE honey one in the bear packaging. ๐Ÿฏ ๐Ÿป This one is a solid โ€œgo toโ€. Have you tried the new Briogeo avocado hair mask? ๐Ÿฅ‘

Samtian_0-1597024405857.jpeg

My mask from last week. It was ok, not the best and not the worst.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@Samtian  I've tried a few masks from this line (including this one) and kinda thought they were all just "meh." Sorry to hear this one was unimpressive for you!

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@Shosh85 That is good to know, thank you.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@Samtian, hmmm... โ€œmehโ€ is better than โ€œnooooo!!โ€ ๐Ÿ˜‰ Sorry to hear this wasnโ€™t a wow for you. Guess youโ€™ll just have to keep trying other propolis masks to find one that is. ๐Ÿ˜†

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@itsfi Yep! I'm not sure if I have anymore, I'll have to check.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

This one looks familiar @Samtian I can't recall if it smells like honey

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@lmaster Not that I noticed.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@Samtian that's what I thought when I seen the packaging but wasn't certain

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

That's shame that it was so meh for you, @Samtian

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

@quspork Thanks. Win some lose some.

Re: 2020 Mask of the Week Challenge - PART II

Yea, yea. We know. I love this mask. They have came out with a smaller & cheaper tube though! I couldnt tag the specific one but its $35. Might have to get that sooner than later I would love the tube form! And I'm trying to just kill the instamud. Its fun.
