Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello Lovelies! As we make our resolutions and check them twice, I thought we could start a skincare version of the Weekly Challenge. Many of us wanted to use more masks, shop our stash and focus on our Skin so hopefully this thread will be an inspiration to do just that. Join us with pictures and comments down below.

Masking Spreadsheet Info

Spoiler

Hello every, @eshoe and I are very happy to present the BIC Masking Challenge Spreadsheet. The idea is to have an easily searchable database of masks and reviews as a reference point when we are considering our next purchase. Data integrity was important to us so instead of everyone inputing data directly into the spreadsheet where theoretically information could be deleted or edited we have the questionnaire. It should take no longer then 1-2 minutes with the option for a more detailed review (which you can copy from your post on this thread).

Remember the idea is not to replace this thread. I personally love reading, commenting and interacting with all you amazing women here and that shouldn’t change. This would just be on top of that. Hopefully the more people that partake in this, the larger database of information we’ll have for reference. It will be extra effort in the beginning but then we would only need to input any new mask we’ve tried.

Additional Info:

Since we aren’t allowed to post links, please PM or myself for it. You will also find this information on the original post so you don’t need a database to search for this post!

Incase you need some help to filter/search results, try this :-

Search Specific Word or Phrase —> Edit -> Find and Replace -> Search Word

Filter/Organize by Columns --> Data -> Create a Filter -> Select Options

There are 2 ways to edit a response:

1) Once you have completed a survey, click on the "Edit Your Response" link on that page. Once this page is closed, the only way to make a change is to:

2) PM @Aaliaa or @eshoe to make the change directly in the response spreadsheet

Thanks @eshoe for putting this together!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi@Shosh85 thank you good to know, love a solid mask for everyday when I don’t want any surprises unless they plump my skin😉

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi Oooh, that's great to know! I know I have at least one from you that I need to try soon! 👍😊

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Continuing with the Week 2 themes - 2018 Favorite Mask of the Week Challenge or "B" masks last night, I went with two "B" masks, the Belif Pore Cleaner Bubble Foam Mask and a Brightening mask from the Taiwanese brand Naruko. I'm familiar with Naruko - it's one of my favorite brands for sheet masks, but this particular sheet mask is a new one for me.

IMG_3877.JPG

Spoiler
BELIF - Pore Cleaner Bubble Foam is a nice, gently foaming mask (as an FYI, belif also has a cleanser that looks similar and has a similar sounding name to this foam mask). As far as bubbling masks go, my preference is definitely for these wash off ones that come in a pump dispenser. The only down side for me about this foaming mask is that it applies clear. That generally would be something I prefer as it suggests no added coloring, but with foaming masks, I like when there's some color to the mask when you are applying it - it allows me to see where I've applied it and where I should expect the bubbling action to occur. This mask applies clear but the foam is white in color.  I have 2 other similar foaming masks that make it into my mask routine on an occasional basis so I'm not likely to purchase a full size of the belif foaming mask; again, it has nothing to do with the mask itself or how it performs; it's just that I have more than plenty of foaming masks that need to be used up at the moment. This one is a B+.

Naruko Taiwan Magnolia Brightening and Firming Mask EX is a pretty serious mask! By that, I mean, it's not your ordinary sheet mask; this one covers and adheres to your face and your neck, with double ear loops, no less - one coming from the face mask and one coming from the next portion of the mask. I was a little nervous when I pulled the mask out of the packet and realized it includes a face mask and a neck mask - I'm not usually a fan of those types of masks - they usually feel tight on my face and neck and rarely stay on for the suggested wear time. To my surprise, I did not have either of those problems with this sheet mask. My biggest challenge with this mask is that there's soooooo much of the creamy, milky serum in the sheet mask itself - so much that I left the mask on for 45 minutes and felt like I could have gone another 10-15 minutes without the mask drying out. This is not a sheet mask to use when you're short on time and in a hurry.

There's extra serum in the pouch as well; not enough for another mask, but definitely enough to apply to multiple parts of your body - arms, legs, stomach, shoulders, hands, feets, etc. When you open the pouch, you're greeted by a subtle floral scent but I don't recall it lingering once the mask was applied. At the time, all I could tell was that it smelled like flowers; it's probably the scent from the Taiwanese Magnolia flower - now, not knowing what that flower smells like, I can't be 100% sure, but I feel like it's a fairly safe assumption to make.

As far as results go, using this mask once is not enough to show any firming effects. However, after using the mask, my complexion looked brighter and my skin looked and felt very moisturized. This is definitely a mask I will repurchase (and I'd repurchase it in bulk too if I could). This is an A+ mask.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ohhh face and neck... interesting. Not sure how I would feel using that... still sounds like a great one though! @itsfi

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Completely understand that @veronika23! I’m not typically a fan of masks like this one; my neck and jawline can be easily irritated and prone to clogged pores, but so far I haven’t experienced any irritation or reaction from the mask. 😃

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

That's awesome!!! @itsfi

@itsfi it even looks like an A+ mask! glad it worked well...

@itsfi it even looks like an A+ mask! glad it worked well for you 💗

Re: @itsfi it even looks like an A+ mask! glad it worked well...

Thanks @lmaster! It’s a good one. 👍🏼

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi I've never tried the Belif bubble mask before, but I agree that it's so much better when you can see where you're putting it! I own the Instamud but still haven't tried it yet! I like the sound of it going on purple!

That Naruko mask certainly sounds interesting! It'd be very interesting to know if this does give results over time! Sounds like it did great with just one use! I'm glad you saw some results!🙌😊

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

The purple color on the InstaMud is really helpful to know where the bubbling / foaming is going to take place.  I've been impressed with the Naruko sheet masks, @Shosh85; so much so that I might look into some of their non-mask skincare products once I've gone through more of the products in my current stash.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh the Naruko mask sounds really interesting and great, @itsfi. I was introduced to the brand with your masking advent calendar and I already have some on my amazon wishlist for future purchase - I think I’ll add this one too!

Sidebar - I’ve been trying to incorporate my neck and chest more into my skincare (I know this is NOT a novel idea, hah) and I’d love to see more neck masks. Wonder if this is a trend we will start seeing?

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh PS, @itsfi, where do you buy this brand? They have a small amazon presence so I’m sure there are better options

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@scott1201, I get my Naruko sheet masks directly from the site,  narukoboutique(dot)com

They usually have some good deals. There’s a pull down menu for “language” near the top on the left hand corner. Very helpful. The first time I ordered, I missed that feature. LOL! 😂😂

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi this goes as an exception on my low buy Smiley Very Happy Sounds so lovely. The belif is a favorite of mine, but do share your sentiments re: slight coloring for mask placement. Thank you for reviewing these, will be off to research the Naruko soon Smiley Wink

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe, the Naruko sheet mask is wonderful!! 😍 I feel like it hydrates and moisturizes my skin and brightens it too. If you end up picking it up, I’d love to know what you think about the mask.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

I am on the hunt and will be too excited not to share when I find it @itsfi!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

You’re on the hunt to find the mask @eshoe?

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yes and no luck so far @itsfi. Which I suppose is good and bad, as I don’t know about an all-encompassing mask. I’m very intrigued and terrified at the same time🤫 It’s kind of like a secret dare. I don’t want to do it but yet I don’t want to be chicken.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ah, I see. I completely understand @eshoe. I’m not a fan of masks that cover my neck and that have ear loops. Amazon has a variety pack of Naruko masks

that includes this brightening one. I don’t think all the masks are designed like this one. I’m pretty sure I have all of the masks in the variety pack on amazon. If you want to take a look at it and there are a few you’re interested in, let me know and I’ll try them and give you my thoughts so you can see if it’s worthwhile to pick up the set.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hi @itsfi and @eshoe, great to know Nauko masks can be purchased at Amazon.  I had bought a box each in Asia of their tea tree oil, raw Jobs tears and Magnolia sheet masks and I love them all but they’re so different.  This Magnolia mask of course has the ear and chin flaps, creamy essence and the most fragrant.  The tea tree oil is a black mask with a medicinal smell and my fave is the raw Job’s tears - clear essence, slight yeasty smell but my skin seems to always look better the next morning.  I was wondering where in the US to get more Naruko masks.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@newcarlee, thank you so much for this info on the other masks. 😃 I’m even more excited to try the Job’s tear’s now!! Amazon has been stocking more Naruko lately, some in variety sets which is nice. The Naruko site has a ton of masks to choose from too.
