Hello Lovelies! As we make our resolutions and check them twice, I thought we could start a skincare version of the Weekly Challenge. Many of us wanted to use more masks, shop our stash and focus on our Skin so hopefully this thread will be an inspiration to do just that. Join us with pictures and comments down below.

Masking Spreadsheet Info

Hello every, @eshoe and I are very happy to present the BIC Masking Challenge Spreadsheet. The idea is to have an easily searchable database of masks and reviews as a reference point when we are considering our next purchase. Data integrity was important to us so instead of everyone inputing data directly into the spreadsheet where theoretically information could be deleted or edited we have the questionnaire. It should take no longer then 1-2 minutes with the option for a more detailed review (which you can copy from your post on this thread).

Remember the idea is not to replace this thread. I personally love reading, commenting and interacting with all you amazing women here and that shouldn’t change. This would just be on top of that. Hopefully the more people that partake in this, the larger database of information we’ll have for reference. It will be extra effort in the beginning but then we would only need to input any new mask we’ve tried.

Since we aren’t allowed to post links, please PM or myself for it. You will also find this information on the original post so you don’t need a database to search for this post!

 Incase you need some help to filter/search results, try this :-

Search Specific Word or Phrase —> Edit -> Find and Replace -> Search Word

Filter/Organize by Columns --> Data -> Create a Filter -> Select Options
 

There are 2 ways to edit a response: 

1) Once you have completed a survey, click on the "Edit Your Response" link on that page. Once this page is closed, the only way to make a change is to:

2) PM @Aaliaa or @eshoe to make the change directly in the response spreadsheet

Each week there will be a new Masking Challenge posted. It will range from type of mask, brand specific week or fun challenges along the way.

Choose mask, take picture (with mask on or before), place mask on face, relax and dream of the next Sephora purchase you want to make, remove mask for healthier skin.

Wow! That is an expensive mask.... but sounds wonderful!!! Now I want to try it. 😄 Where did you get this one @itsfi?

@veronika23, I picked these up at dermstore(dot)com during a sale. The brand has a Canadian site and I think it should list authorized retailers but those are usually spas. I haven’t been able to find an online retailer based on Canada that carries the brand.

@sonnydee, that’s some fancy water! 😂 It’s targeted as being good for post-laser or post-peel recovery / healing. It’s gentle as it cocoons the face so I can see how this would be worthwhile in those instances or as a nice splurge.

@itsfi Sounds like a great mask, but I agree it would be hard to pull the trigger at that price-point!!

@CC3616, it’s one of those masks that I might consider if there was a big sale, but I’d hoard the masks for special occasions or if my skin really needed it.

I am fascinated by that Skinceuticals mask, @itsfi. I wonder if the mask itself is some sort of proprietary bio cellulose material? Very interesting, glad you gave it a second chance. A single might be a nice treat for a special occasion 🤔

@eshoe, I hadn’t thought of that but that would make sense. Skinceuticals probably does have some proprietary right to the material. It was thicker than other biocellulose masks but adhered so nicely.

@itsfi I spent some time researching this mask last night and did find a site linked to an allure article, thebeautybrains (dot) com that had some info on bio cellulose masks. It talked about what makes them so special, maybe there is something to the mask itself? Makes me think I should be using these masks during gross masks week.

You may have heard of biocellulose sheet masks, but have you stopped to think about what biocellulose means? Turns it means the mask is made from bacteria. Sheet masks made from biocellulose perform better than their paper counterparts because they adhere snugly to skin and don't allow ingredients to evaporate as quickly. We love the SkinCeuticals Biocellulose Restorative Masque; it's so hydrating that some dermatologists use it to calm the skin after laser procedures.

Don't let your imagination go crazy—these masks aren't grown in a petri dish. Randy Schueller, a cosmetic chemist and cofounder of thebeautybrains.com, explains that they're made by finding a strain of bacteria that ferments glucose. "The bacteria then poop out cellulose; you purify it, collect it, and then make a mask out of it," he says.

Oh nice! I have a sample of the midnight radiance mask too! I love the blue color of course. 😄 Where did you pick up the mini @eshoe?  Isn't the Thermal Cleansing Balm just the best! I'm stocked up for the year!  Decided to buy a 4th kit at LookFantastic now that it is on sale... same price I paid back in Oct when it was a pre-sale at Bath & Unwind

I’ve been interested in Lookfantastic’s box, @veronika23, I like that it comes with a mini magazine (or is it FS? I’ve never tried it but might give it a whirl sometime this year). The mini is from from sister in law. I stocked her and her Mom up on sheet masks for awhile😉 This is well worth it, though I had some peeling with it this morning (kind of like I did with the Glow Recipe Watermelon, but not as intense; not sure if that is normal?).

I think the GR just left a film on my face, and that’s what peeled off, as it didn’t irritate my skin in the slightest.
