Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello Lovelies! As we make our resolutions and check them twice, I thought we could start a skincare version of the Weekly Challenge. Many of us wanted to use more masks, shop our stash and focus on our Skin so hopefully this thread will be an inspiration to do just that. Join us with pictures and comments down below.

Masking Spreadsheet Info

Spoiler

Hello every, @eshoe and I are very happy to present the BIC Masking Challenge Spreadsheet. The idea is to have an easily searchable database of masks and reviews as a reference point when we are considering our next purchase. Data integrity was important to us so instead of everyone inputing data directly into the spreadsheet where theoretically information could be deleted or edited we have the questionnaire. It should take no longer then 1-2 minutes with the option for a more detailed review (which you can copy from your post on this thread).

Remember the idea is not to replace this thread. I personally love reading, commenting and interacting with all you amazing women here and that shouldn’t change. This would just be on top of that. Hopefully the more people that partake in this, the larger database of information we’ll have for reference. It will be extra effort in the beginning but then we would only need to input any new mask we’ve tried.

Since we aren’t allowed to post links, please PM or myself for it. You will also find this information on the original post so you don’t need a database to search for this post!

Incase you need some help to filter/search results, try this :-

Search Specific Word or Phrase —> Edit -> Find and Replace -> Search Word

Filter/Organize by Columns --> Data -> Create a Filter -> Select Options

There are 2 ways to edit a response:

1) Once you have completed a survey, click on the "Edit Your Response" link on that page. Once this page is closed, the only way to make a change is to:

2) PM @Aaliaa or @eshoe to make the change directly in the response spreadsheet

Thanks @eshoe for putting this together!

Re: RE: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@SportyGirly125 let me know what you think if you do!

Re: RE: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@makeitup305 I tried using the J.One Jelly Pack as a primer alone but it was too tacky for me so I added a little YSL Touché Eclat Blur Primer and I liked the results a lot better.

Re: RE: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@SportyGirly125 glad you (kinda) liked it. I feel like the tackiness helps grip the makeup and help it wear down evenly. Mixing in a pore primer is a good idea! I might have to try that too.

Re: RE: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@makeitup305 Of course.  I will keep you posted.

@SportyGirly@125 that is the coolest looking mask set ever!

@sportygirly@125 that is the coolest looking mask set ever!

Re: RE: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh, you picked up all 3 of the J.One Jelly Packs @SportyGirly125?!! I’ve only tried the white and black packs and my preference was for the black one. I really like the J.One Jelly Cream; it was one of the moisturizers that got my dehydrated-dry skin through the winter last year.

Re: RE: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi I actually already had the white one and the cream but decided to pick up the red and black one to try.  I love the white one (I think it's my third bottle and I need to place another order for it).

Re: RE: Mask of the Week Challenge!

I've never heard of this brand, @SportyGirly125, very cool! Also, that you used a jade roller over your mask. I haven't picked one of those up (yet!), just seeing what others think about them first.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yesterday's masking was all about newbie masks - it was an acai berry good masking day! teehee! 😆😂🤣

Spoiler
Sally's Box Loverecipe AcaiBerry Mask is a triple layered biocellulose mask (yes! you read that right, it's a triple layered bio-cellulose mask!) that has an every slight heft to it when I pulled it out, but it applies as I expect of a bio-cellulose mask, in that it adhered really well. In terms of fit, I only had to fold the chin area up and make the minorest of adjustments to the eye area so that it would lay better on my face. I left it on for 20 minutes per the directions, but could have probably gone an additional 20 minutes since there was quite a bit of serum remaining when I removed the mask. My skin was a little tacky after I patted the serum in to help with the absorption but that disappeared after I applied my moisturizer. Complexion looked fresh, soft and hydrated and makeup application was nice and smooth. This is a really nice mask. A "con" for me is that it contains alcohol; ordinarily, this wouldn't faze me if it were near the bottom of the ingredients list, but it's the fourth ingredient listed! Ugh. My skin didn't feel dry at all though and I'm completely intrigued by the triple layer biocellulose material. I have another mask from this line that I'll try out another day.

Last night, I reached for the SEPHORA COLLECTION - Hair Sleeping Mask - Acai. This is the first time I've tried this "flavor"; it's geared toward brightening and color protecting. The latter I can't speak to because I haven't colored my hair for some time now (was letting it go back to its natural color and it's about all the way there). This has a fruity, berry smell to it that is quite nice; not overpowering or cloying. When I use these hair masks, I apply the cream to the ends and work my way up but do not cover my entire head and scalp with it; then I put it in a braid, slip the reusable fabric cap over it and go to bed. After rinsing the mask out of my hair this morning, it felt soooo soft. I'm not sure about the brightening properties, but my hair felt soft and conditioned.

@itsfi some things with alcohol high on the list, for me,...

@itsfi some things with alcohol high on the list, for me, will usually cause oil overload. but I'd still use it too 😂 the acai hair mask sounds wonderful, I really loved the coconut hair mask you sent me ❤️

Re: @itsfi some things with alcohol high on the list, for me,...

@lmaster, yeah, I’m a little wary of alcohol being so high on the ingredients list but my skin has not had any negative reaction to it.  I’ll see how it holds up for the next couple of days. I am really intrigued by and like the material of the mask.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi, haha, how "berry" good is the hair mask?  Love hair masks!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

The hair mask was nice @byme4u. Im not sure about the brightening or color protecting traits, but my hair felt soft the next morning after rinsing it out. 😃 Of the 4 different varieties in the Sephora hair mask range, my favorite is still the coconut one.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

That brand name is adorable, @itsfi! A triple layer bio cellulose mask is very interesting. The Farmacy ones seem fairly thin, and the When ones seem much thicker. Would you say its close to the latter? I wonder if the alcohol is there to preserve the mask itself...

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe, the material definitely felt closer to the When mask. At first I thought it was a thin but somewhat dense (yet still light) masks that felt somewhat like a cotton mask in terms of its softness but different than what I associate with a traditional cotton sheet mask. I was happy (and surprised) to learn it was a triple layered biocellulose mask but that actually makes sense when I think about it - it has a feel similar to biocellulose masks but more dense (because of the 3 layers).

Mask of the Week Challenge!

yesterday's masking I just love these feet masks! I left them on for about 2 hours, the serum was almost absorbed 😂 I just had a little bit on my toe area that I rubbed into my entire foot. ( on both) love love the smell, and my feet were so unbelievably soft! then I tried this mask courtesy of @itsfi this is another great one! it was a tad long on the forehead, no big deal for me! that was the only little issue I seen or felt with it. left it on for 20 min. I felt a nice cooling sensation with this mask, after taking it off I pat the remaining serum into my skin. I felt hydrated and looked healthier. loving these masks!! thank you so much @itsfi 😘 then last night I went for the perricone MD cocoa moisture mask,,,ahhhhh I love this mask, my capsules were rupturing all over my face 😂 I had dark brown streaks all over, but the smell of this is amazing, gotta love cocoa. it makes my skin so hydrated and soft

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@lmaster, it sounds like you had an awesome hydrating masking session yesterday from head to toe! I just love those foot masks they Sephora makes. ❤️ Perfect all year round.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi I love those feet masks!! 😉

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oooh was looking forward to hearing about this mask, @lmaster! It looks like a multi-step mask maybe? It just looks like the ‘milky piggy’ might be a separate packet. 💗 that name, it’s so silly!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Lol @eshoe it does look like multiple masks! It's just one though 😉

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Another new mask - Thought I'd share here too. It's live in the US and coming soon for Canada - I love the packaging! Smiley Very Happy Smiley Very Happy Smiley Very Happy
