Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello Lovelies! As we make our resolutions and check them twice, I thought we could start a skincare version of the Weekly Challenge. Many of us wanted to use more masks, shop our stash and focus on our Skin so hopefully this thread will be an inspiration to do just that. Join us with pictures and comments down below.

Each week there will be a new Masking Challenge posted. It will range from type of mask, brand specific week or fun challenges along the way.
How To: Choose mask, take picture (with mask on or before), place mask on face, relax and dream of the next Sephora purchase you want to make, remove mask for healthier skin.
Most Important: Have Fun!!

P.S. If you have any suggestions or challenge recommendations feel free to message me and I'll add them to the list.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

What a cute face mask, @bakeamuffin! I didn't know Nailsinc had face masks Smiley Surprised

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

I was surprised when I saw it too @SpaceLlama, I’ve been hoarding it away for a few months and was so glad to have it today! 😊

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Last night's masking:

The Caudalie Glycolic Peel Mask is a creamy exfoliating mask with glycolic acid and papaya enzymes as the active ingredients.  It says it’s non-irritating and I would agree; this is a very gentle acid peel mask.  I did experience some tingling, the slightest bit really, near my cheekbones, but that’s about it.  I started feeling it about a couple minutes after I put it on and it lasted maybe for a minute or so.  There’s a fresh, light scent to the mask.  Directions say to leave the mask on for 10 minutes and then rinse to remove.  This peel mask is okay; I think it would be a nice one for someone new to peels or with really sensitive skin.  I use other peels and acids regularly so I don’t know how often I would incorporate this one into my routine, but I could see myself reaching for it when my skin, for whatever reason, may be very sensitive.

After the Caudalie peel mask, I went with The Crème Shop Avocado eye sheet mask.  Y’all know that I love these eye sheet masks from The Crème Shop.  The fit on this one is fantastic; it feels relaxing when I have it on and is very moisturizing.  After I took the mask off, I went about 4 hours before I felt the need to apply moisturizer.  There are 5 variations of the eye sheet masks – caffeine, cucumber, sea kelp, avocado and charcoal.  Counting this one, I’ve tried them all except for the caffeine and sea kelp ones.  @Shosh85 raves about the caffeine eye sheet mask and that is a huge plus in my book; that’ll be the next one I try out.

While I had the eye sheet mask on, I decided to multi-mask with the Caudalie Detox Mask (not pictured) that I used the other night.  This time, I used it as a spot treatment for a couple of cystic acne bits and that worked out very well – the acne bumps have dried up and flattened out; there’s some redness there, but that is to be expected (and that’s where The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin and the NARS concealer will come in handy).

This morning's masks:

Blithe splash mask came in handy this morning.  I wanted to get in a sheet mask before leaving for work and the splash mask helped to cut down my morning routine (skipped the 7-skin method) without having to compromise the softness, brigtness and bounce I typically would get from using an exfoliating pad and the 7-skin method.

After the splash mask, I used The Crème Shop Propolis Face Mask – this one is another winner from The Crème Shop.  The only issue I had with the Propolis sheet mask was the fit at the bridge of my nose and the inner eye area – it was a lot wider than any sheet mask I’ve ever used – so much so that I had to cut the mask straight across in the area to keep the serum from getting into the inner corners of my eyes; I wondered if this one just didn't get cut/shaped properly in this area because this is the first time a Creme Shop mask I've used has been like this.   There’s a sweet scent to this mask – I can smell honey in it and something else…a sweet florally fragrance, maybe honeysuckle?  The scent does linger a bit, which I was fine with, but I think I was hoping for more of a natural honey scent.  Wide nose bridge area and scent aside, the results are hard to beat – my complexion had a fresh glow to it and felt soft and hydrated.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi Great masking!! I'm always interested in eye masks and the Blithe Splash looks like something I would really like! Products with Honey always seem to work well! With your masking choices,  your skin must be in great shape!! Thanks again for great reviews!!😊

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thank you @yankeefaithful; you are too kind!  My skin is rather tempermental - it's been looking better since I've been trying to mask every day, if not twice a day.  Thank goodness for these challenges - even if I don't use a mask that follows the theme for the particular week, it reminds/encourages me to mask.

My skin loves products with honey in it too!  Which ones work well for you?

I highly recommend these eye masks - I've been quite impressed by them.  The Blithe splash masks are great!  I just love how it cuts down my morning routine but still gives me all the skin benefits as if I went through the full regimen.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

The results from the honey masks sound great, @itsfi!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

The honey mask was very nice @curlychiquita!  The next time I make a purchase from The Creme Shop, I'm going to purchase a pack of that one.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

These look and sounds so nice @itsfi, I love our skincare choices! 😄

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thank you @bakeamuffin!  These particular pairings worked out really well; I'm going to use them more frequently!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi Great masking choices and pairs! I still have that avocado 🥑 eye mask waiting for me- glad to hear you liked it! The Caffeine one is definitely my favorite, plus, it smells like chocolate! 👌🍫

It seems strange the honey mask fits so differently than the others- I would think they’d all be pretty much the same!🤔 My face usually reacts well with Honey products🍯😉

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thanks @Shosh85! I can't wait to try the caffeine eye mask. I really like these eye masks; that the caffeine one  smells like chocolate just adds to the appeal! 🍫

I do think the sizing of the  propolis mask that I used may have been a one off because the fit of all the ones in that particular range of sheet masks that I've tried have all fit the same. There will be another purchase from The Creme Shop in my future (though maybe later this summer since I need to get to using others I've been wanting to try) and I'll pick up another propolis mask to see if the misfiring mask was a one-off. 🍯

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi I’ll have to do the Honey one next so I can see if the fit is any different than yours🤔

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ooh, yes, I'd love to know. Fit it into your masking routine when it makes sense.  Hoping I just got a dud. 🤞🏼 It will be very noticeable - it was so wide it would have covered a 1/4 of my eye if I didn't cut it. 😂  Thanks @Shosh85

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi Well, if yours was a dud, then mine came from the same batch 😬 mine was just as you described, and I just cut straight across like you did and it was just fine. This one also felt so good on my face! I see what you meant about the scent- sort of a sweet honey and floral smell. 🍯💐

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh my goodness, yesss @Shosh85!!  I guess mine wasn't the lone dud.  I'm fine with cutting it straight across because I like how the mask performs and it is very refreshing, but it is odd that it's shaped so differently than the other sheet masks from the same line.

RE: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hi lovelies! Miss you all,to share this great gratis I got from space nk! It’s the malin and goetz brightening enzyme mask, releasing July 1st. Pumpkin and pomegranate natural AHA. I was concerned when I got this because my skin has been haywire since moving (bad air and water quality, yikes!! I’ve been washing my face and hair with bottled water 😂) so I’ve been a little scared to try anything new as to not upset it further. But I gathered up some courage last night and was really impressed. I am dull/dry normally, exacerbated severely by where we are now 0plus some irritation. I was an acid user before moving and I have cut back a little with the irritation, but do still have lactic, glycolic, aha, and bha in my routine. this stung a tad toward the end of the 5 minutes, but no irritation when I washed off and my skin was glowing!! It’s been a long time since I’ve seen it look so good here honestly. I haven’t used a lot Of malin products, and what I have I felt meh about, so that made me extra impressed. I will defiantly put this in my rotation! 1st pic packing sheet, second with mask, third skin today with just skincare and tinted moisturizer on💜

Re: RE: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@CC3616 Good to see you again!!! Hope you’re all settled in from the move!

Re: RE: Mask of the Week Challenge!

This looks like a great mask, @CC3616!  Thanks for your review!

Re: RE: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@CC3616  Nice to see you around! 😉

You (and your skin) really do look fantastic! That mask sounds like one I need to try!! Thanks for that great review!

Re: RE: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Your skin looks amazing!  The Malin + Goetz mask sounds great!  I've used products with pumkin enzymes before but never pomegranate ones; will have to stop by Space NK to see about a sample.  Thank you for sharing!

RE: Mask of the Week Challenge!

This is hands down the most effective acne ask I have ever tried. Absolutely nothing beats it. After using it for 1/2 hr there is a marked decrease in the size of whiteheads. It does contain sulphur so if you’re sensitive to that, do not use. I know this doesn’t go with the theme, but it’s def a HG for me so had to share!
