Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello Lovelies! As we make our resolutions and check them twice, I thought we could start a skincare version of the Weekly Challenge. Many of us wanted to use more masks, shop our stash and focus on our Skin so hopefully this thread will be an inspiration to do just that. Join us with pictures and comments down below.

Masking Spreadsheet Info

Spoiler

Hello every, @eshoe and I are very happy to present the BIC Masking Challenge Spreadsheet. The idea is to have an easily searchable database of masks and reviews as a reference point when we are considering our next purchase. Data integrity was important to us so instead of everyone inputing data directly into the spreadsheet where theoretically information could be deleted or edited we have the questionnaire. It should take no longer then 1-2 minutes with the option for a more detailed review (which you can copy from your post on this thread).

Remember the idea is not to replace this thread. I personally love reading, commenting and interacting with all you amazing women here and that shouldn’t change. This would just be on top of that. Hopefully the more people that partake in this, the larger database of information we’ll have for reference. It will be extra effort in the beginning but then we would only need to input any new mask we’ve tried.

Additional Info:

Spoiler

Since we aren’t allowed to post links, please PM or myself for it. You will also find this information on the original post so you don’t need a database to search for this post!

 Incase you need some help to filter/search results, try this :-

Search Specific Word or Phrase —> Edit -> Find and Replace -> Search Word

Filter/Organize by Columns --> Data -> Create a Filter -> Select Options

There are 2 ways to edit a response:

1) Once you have completed a survey, click on the "Edit Your Response" link on that page. Once this page is closed, the only way to make a change is to:

2) PM @Aaliaa or @eshoe to make the change directly in the response spreadsheet

Thanks @eshoe for putting this together!

Merry Masking!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Tamara76

I loved that this mask smelled like bananas too! I read a review that likened the scent to banana cream pie and was a little 'meh' about that but when I opened the packet and it smelled like bananas, I was hooked.  ❤️  Love how nourishing it is as well.

Riley Rose?! I went to look that up after I saw your post. They carry a brand I have been wanting to try.  Sadly, there is not a storefront near me, though my wallet thinks it is better this way.  Good thing I can buy online! 😉

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi  I will definitely repurchase this mask!   You do not know how long I've been trying to find properly banana scented banana products - lol!

Riley Rose is a super cute store! Lots of awesome K Beauty!   I hope they open one in your area soon! ❤️

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Tamara76 That's just the endorsement I need to hear! 🍌🍌🍌🍌

The sheet mask I used for this week’s challenge. Left my skin glowing. On my rebuy list.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Never seen this one before, glad you liked it @nikki!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Aaliaa It came in one of my mask subscriptions, so it might be hard for me to track down and rebuy, I’m realizing 😂

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@nikki Thanks for the input! Will definitely have to try it!!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Did it smell like mulberries, too? That sounds delightful!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Susubee I didn’t notice a smell of any kind. A scented mask would be super relaxing though!

Mask of the Week Challenge!

I really wanted to try one of my new leaders sheet masks but this Dr. Jart mask has been in my collection so long that I had to check the expiration date...so I decided to be good and use it first. It is pretty nice. I love that it is in two pieces because I always have a hard time getting full sheets to lay flat on my face.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Lazybeautybeast

I agree - I have an easier time with sheet masks that are 2-pieces.

Excellent point about expiration dates; thank you!  I need to go through my stash of sheet masks and see if there are any that are close to expiring and use those up first.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

A few of the women at work use sheet masks every day, one may use a sheet mask twice a day, I think. They all have flawless skin.  I probably include a sheet mask in my skincare routine 2 or 3 times per week. Last year, I told myself I would try using a sheet mask every day for a week at least once this year.  I thought this week being sheet mask week was a good a time as any.

Wow, after doing this for a week, I get why some of my coworkers sheet mask on a daily or near daily basis. My skin felt softer, smoother and like it had more bounce to it. My complexion looked brighter too.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Great on you for doing a mask each day last week! Was there a specific mask you liked the best? @itsfi

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Never mind, just saw your detailed review of each product @itsfi

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Aaliaa

Ohhhh, that's a tough question.  They were all good, but if I had to pick just one...I'd say the Bidanpo Mediental mask (it's the one with the purple packaging in the pic). The mask fit my face perfectly, was hydrating and my face looked noticeably brighter after using it.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thanks @itsfi!!

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi, that's a great collection of used masks, and using one everyday for a week takes dedication!  Thank you for the detailed reviews!   Once I work my way through my current collection I should try Too Cool for School sheet masks.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@curlychiquita

Oh yes, do try the Too Cool For School masks - after going through your current collection, of course!  The sheet mask collection can build up quickly, right?!  I'm slightly obsessed with trying all the different TCFS masks and have found some that do not appear to be sold in the US.  Like you, I'm going to use up the masks in my collection first.

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

Details about each mask in the spoiler section.

Spoiler
I used the TonyMoly Bubble mask and A’pieu Banana Milk sheet mask one after the other. The bubble mask is a wash-off, oxygen, bubble (foaming), peeling, charcoal sheet mask. It’s not a full face mask – it covers the bridge of the nose all the way to the chin but not the forehead. At first, I thought I was missing a piece for my forehead, but nope, it’s not designed to be a full face mask; however, there’s plenty of product to use on the forehead once it starts ‘bubbling’ or foaming. I was not expecting a lot from this mask, and that’s where I was wrong! My skin felt and looked cleansed, fresh and clear. After I’ve gone through my current sheet mask stash, I will most definitely repurchase this bubble mask.

The A’pieu Banana Milk mask smells like bananas!! Yum! Since the instructions and details about the mask are primarily in Korean, I did some googling and learned that this mask is geared toward hydrating and nourishing the skin. I also discovered that A’pieu is part of the Missha brand. As for the mask, my skin felt very moisturized and hydrated after using it – I’m glad I purchased more than one of these banana milk sheet masks. After using the mask, I went back online to order a few other sheet masks from this line, including the strawberry milk, green tea milk and coconut milk sheet masks.

The Bidanpo Balhyo-Mibaek Mediental Healing Mask is the best fitting mask for my face that I’ve ever come across and, I came upon this mask by happenstance. I was in downtown LA for work and was given an afternoon off unexpectedly so I went to check out some stores in Koreatown which is where I found this beauty. It’s a brightening mask and it lived up to its intended purpose. I’m kicking myself that I only picked up one extra mask – it’ll be saved for a special occasion.

Hokkaido Coroku White Snow Fairy mask is a Japanese sheet mask that is meant for brightening. This felt cooling, refreshing and hydrating on my skin. I think this mask would be great to use post-workout or in the summer, after taking it out of the fridge.

I reached for the Too Cool For School Egg Cream Mask after reading @sojess post about it - thanks sojess!  I’m a big fan of Too Cool For School products, especially their face masks and always have several of them in my collection, but I think this is the first time that I’ve used this particular mask, though it will not be the last. The corners of the eye and mouth areas were a little narrow but that was easily fixed. I used it after a flight and it provided much needed hydration and moisture to my skin. There was a lot of essence left in the package that I used on my décolleté, arms and legs.

Leaders sheet masks are staples in my collection.  I like their coconut gel mask for hydration and like all of the ‘flavors’ in that line that I have tried - blueberry, orange and tomato; I haven't tried the broccoli one...yet.  I’ve usually had good results with their 7 Wonders line as well, but for whatever reason, this particular Acai Anti-Pollution Mask didn’t seem to have a lot of essence to it. This week was the first time I’ve tried anything from their Labotica line and the green tea one did not disappoint; my skin felt smooth and soft after using it. This mask came in a variety pack along with a rice sheet mask and a honey one; hoping those perform as well as the green tea sheet mask.

There are definitely benefits to using sheet masks on a daily basis but I don’t think I’d be disciplined enough to keep up with it regularly. I can see myself using a sheet mask once a day for a limited period of time, every so often during the year, and will aim for that as well as maybe including an additional day of sheet masking to my routine during the week

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi Wow, thanks for the detailed reviews!  I’m just starting to get into sheet masks and this is an awesome list to start with. 😊

Re: Mask of the Week Challenge!

@CakesCakes

Thank you for your kind words.

You are welcome; it was helpful for me to write down my thoughts on these masks as well.  It took me some time to get into sheet masks.  I struggled a lot with ill-fitting sheet masks when I first started using them, but now I can't imagine not incorporating them periodically in my skincare routine.
