Hello Lovelies! As we make our resolutions and check them twice, I thought we could start a skincare version of the Weekly Challenge. Many of us wanted to use more masks, shop our stash and focus on our Skin so hopefully this thread will be an inspiration to do just that. Join us with pictures and comments down below.

Masking Spreadsheet Info

Hello every, @eshoe and I are very happy to present the BIC Masking Challenge Spreadsheet. The idea is to have an easily searchable database of masks and reviews as a reference point when we are considering our next purchase. Data integrity was important to us so instead of everyone inputing data directly into the spreadsheet where theoretically information could be deleted or edited we have the questionnaire. It should take no longer then 1-2 minutes with the option for a more detailed review (which you can copy from your post on this thread).

Remember the idea is not to replace this thread. I personally love reading, commenting and interacting with all you amazing women here and that shouldn’t change. This would just be on top of that. Hopefully the more people that partake in this, the larger database of information we’ll have for reference. It will be extra effort in the beginning but then we would only need to input any new mask we’ve tried.

Since we aren’t allowed to post links, please PM or myself for it. You will also find this information on the original post so you don’t need a database to search for this post!

 Incase you need some help to filter/search results, try this :-

Search Specific Word or Phrase —> Edit -> Find and Replace -> Search Word

Filter/Organize by Columns --> Data -> Create a Filter -> Select Options
 

There are 2 ways to edit a response: 

1) Once you have completed a survey, click on the "Edit Your Response" link on that page. Once this page is closed, the only way to make a change is to:

2) PM @Aaliaa or @eshoe to make the change directly in the response spreadsheet

Each week there will be a new Masking Challenge posted. It will range from type of mask, brand specific week or fun challenges along the way.

Choose mask, take picture (with mask on or before), place mask on face, relax and dream of the next Sephora purchase you want to make, remove mask for healthier skin.

Super cheap snail mask from an Asian market. No mineral oil in this one 😀 think that last mask caused me to breakout.

I LOVE that brand of sheet masks, @moxiepancakes. I feel like they just give so much moisture while not having too much frangramce or other “fancy” benefits. Hot tip, I buy them in bulk from amazon - I can typically get 12 for less than $10

@scott1201 I definitely liked this one better than the Tony Moly one I used earlier this week.  I would be interested in trying some of the bands other masks do you have a favourite?

On amazon if you just search “sheet mask” this brand is typically one of the top results. They come in packs of a dozen. I don’t think I really have a favorite - I’m pretty sure they’re all the exact same mask but just with different, slight, fragrances. I’ve never had a bad reaction to any of the ! @moxiepancakes

Finally found a weird mask for this week's challenge. The Dr. BrandtMegnetight magnet mask. I saw @fieldsofclover mentioned it which remindedme I had a DS from a Sephora Favorite set. I have tried this mask before and, honestly, I do not recommend it. It is fun to try once but after that it is just a lot of work, IMO. I'm not a fan of masks that youcan't wash or blot off. Anyway, my skin is going a light crazy this week so I also used the Fresh Lotus Rescue Mask and a foil a Sephora Collection Mud Mask.

I have the Lotus mask to try and I’m really excited I received the deluxe sample from Sephora. I really like all of the fresh masks, my faves are the black tea and the rose.

Hi @fieldsofclover, def get the promo.  I really liked this mask, even tho I find the rest of the lotus line kind of meh.  

I had some dry patches on my face - the mask hydrated and softened,  and the seaweed pieces helped scrub and smooth the flaky patches off. Pleasantly surprised by it!

@fieldsofclover I like the Ren calming mask more but the promo is fantastic way to try it! I got it in BIC Gratis in November and I feel like I never gave it a fair shot. I've only used it twice. I'm forcing myself to use it a few more times and pay closer attention to the results. However, my mom loves it. I say get the promo.

@Lazybeautybeast @fieldsofclover Can you wash it off? I'm guessing the benefits are more limited but how does it work without the magnet?

@AaliaaIf I wasn't going to use the magnet I would only take this off with one of those PTR mask taskers. It was kind of messy (I used my silicone mask brush and it was ok, but hard to even clean off of that) and I would actually worry about getting iron filings in my eyes if I tried to splash it off with water.

It would probably take half a box of tissues to get off that way and you would be super annoyed. Better to get a bigger magnet, or as a last resort scrape it off mask-tasker-style and use the magnet to get the leftover bits.

@Aaliaa The How to Use page says do not use water. I guess you could probably just wipe it off with a tissue though.

This mask is not too weird, but it’s my first time trying it so I thought I’d post. It’s a Dead Sea Wash-off Mask from Ipsy. It’s comfortable to wear, as it doesn’t dry down so doesn’t pull on my skin. mask by Global Beauty Care

@Guessgal wait, a clay/mud mask that doesn't dry down? What do you think of it now that you've had it off for a while?

@fieldsofclover  I just saw this! Yes, I’ve previously had it on for an hour but it doesn’t harden... it kinda has a “barely there” feeling. My skin feels smoother and squeaky clean after using it, but I don’t find there are visually noticeable differences unfortunately.

My mask is so weird I don't even know how to explain it right! This came in the Sephora Favorites mask set from last fall... I still have it because it looks like a lot of work 😂 I don't think the full size sold well because I saw it at Costco a couple weeks ago for 30% under retail.

UPDATE: I don't know what kind of dark magic is in that mask, but the two milia on my forehead are almost invisible now and another little bump I've had on my cheek for years (smaller after DDG peels) is really flattened! Not a pore refining mask or anything like that but it did some heavy lifting. 

I didn't even finish the rest of my routine afterward, just went to bed and passed out, so I only had the mask serum on my face overnight. Needed to wash my face in the morning of course but it wasn't weird or oily on me. My skin just looks... better now somehow. Wild.

ymmv for sure... I went in with super low expectations for gimmicky bs but I will be buying a full size of this. I'll probably wait until it's on sale but I can see myself paying retail if I kept using it. I will definitely be using my own magnet from now on though!

Also: a lot of reviewers used waxed paper or other things to cover the magnet instead of a tissue... I used parchment paper (the baking kind) and it worked out really well.

I always wanted to try this one just because it looked neat haha - but I was deciding between two of those mask favorites sets and I ended up going with this other one. But definitely looks like it was a lot of work

This one, oh boy.  Messy but fun.  I kinda felt like the magnetic part was just sealing the product against the skin for the duration of the mask so it wouldn’t just evaporate.  I rememeber  my skin feeling greasy after getting the magnet off and it not really absorbing.  It just felt soft because of the film.  

I still enjoyed the process regardless of how gimmicky.  @fieldsofclover
