Lactic Acid & Glycolic Acid together??

I am fairly new to skin care. I am a makeup junkie but have had some troublesome skin the last yr so I've been really into taking care of my skin. I have a really good routine right now but am always looking for something that may be better and/or cheaper. I am obsessed with Sunday Rileys, Good Genes but my gosh its pricey. So my question is if I switch to an Essence or toner that has Glycolic acid in it (I know Good Genes has Lactic Acid) will I still need to use the Good Genes? I've heard it's not good to mix acids so I don't wanna overdo it but would love if I didn't have to use my Good Genes everyday.

Re: Lactic Acid & Glycolic Acid together??

@lauvely1 There are quite a few serums and treatments that have both glycolic and lactic acid working together so it's not necessarily bad to use both at the same time, and they both do give slightly different benefits. My favorite treatment are the DDG Alpha Beta peel pads that have both and my skin LOVES these pads. I think the trouble might come from layering too many serums at the same time, which can overload and irritate your skin. I've been guilty of this a few times in my excitement to try as many new products as possible 🙂

Using a toner with glycolic acid in conjunction with GG probably won't hurt as toners/essences are usually not that concentrated (but always test!). That being said, I don't think replacing GG with just a glycolic toner will be effective either. I haven't personally tried it, but I've heard that the Ordinary makes a lactic acid serum that is supposedly an alternative to GG?

Thank you! I have been eyeing The Ordinary’s lactic acid to see if it can replace my beloved Good Genes. My skin loves that stuff.
