As part of my New Year's resolution, I promised myself I would explore the world of Korean beauty a lot more than I have. I would love this to be a place to discuss and share your experience!
I am currently practicing the "7 Skin Method" every morning. This will help hydrate dry skin as well as balance sebum production is oily skin. I was a grease factory and am now very normal. This method is simply applying a hydrating toner 7 times in a row. You can use a cotton round, but I prefer to apply 5/6 drops to the palm of my hand and press it into my skin. I am currently using:
Results are immediate! My skin is plump and glowing. Now, I could NEVER give up my Good Genes and Luna, but this will definitely take the place of some very expensive skincare products I use like my Vintner's Daughter. I would love to hear about Korean Beauty products you have discovered. I'm all for spending in the name of great skin! ❤️❤️❤️
@mado2018 I still use Luna and Good Genes every night. I double cleanse with Clinique’s Take The Day Off and Pyungkang Yul’s cleanser With my Clarisonic. I tone with Heimish Beauty Water, apply one Layer of Missha First Treatment Essence then apply Luna and Good Genes. I’ve been so pleased with my routine.
In my quest to use up all the various skincare I've been hoarding, I started using my Ren Bio-Retinoid oil at night again a couple weeks ago and my skin is just super happy about it... I don't know why I ever stopped using this stuff.
(Ok that's not entirely true, I stopped using it because it couldn't stack with the Ole night treatment I was into at the time. Clearly I should just get on the Luna/Good Genes train.)
I know I've been eyeing the rest of the PKY line, but I think I might use the VIB sale to Ren-ify the missing parts of my daily steps and then see where I'm at when this bottle is empty. Ditching DDG along with using too many samples has taken the muscle out of my routine and it's starting to show.
@fieldsofclover I shall be following your journey to Ren 🕉 with interest.
@Susubee As far as Sephora brands go, I'm torn among:
+ Ren (an old ex from back in the day I semi-regret breaking up with)
+ YTTP (my skin loves everything of theirs I've tried and their ingredient lists are like, the opposite of filler)
+ Korres (what I've tried of the Black Pine line has been pretty dramatic)
But I'm one of those nerds that likes to mostly commit to one line instead of having a motley crew of randoms (yarrr) so I need to make some medium-term decisions this week.
What did you go for @fieldsofclover? I'm getting more and more interested in YTTP as a brand.
@Aaliaa I got another moisturizer sample from the YTTP rep last week, so I decided I'm going to try going with YTTP in the morning and Korres at night. When the superfood serum comes back into stock (or if I can manage to get one locally) that will become my AM serum. When the moisturizer runs out I might replace it, but I'm leaning toward getting the maqui oil instead. I got to try it at the Play event and it was so much lighter than I expected, in a good way... I think 2-3 drops of it could be a great AM moisturizer for me, and the bottle would last a long time. The superfood serum is full of actives and looks like a good multitasker, so I'm thinking I'll finish my DS of the Ren tonic but not bother with getting the full size.
Now that I'm using the Ren oil every night I'm in the homestretch there (and living on borrowed time with it anyway, it's been open a long time). I'm going to get a Korres yogurt cleanser to use with my Clarisonic at night... I've been using the IT balm for first cleanse and trying to work through a bottle of DDG as second cleanse, so my Clarisonic hasn't really had a place in my routine lately and I'm seeing the consequences of that 🤡. So I'm making that switch and also replacing the Ren oil with the Korres black pine sleeping oil. I'm planning to eventually (💸) add in the black pine eye serum at night also.
I'm DIY masking in the evening, but when I get busy that's always the first part of my routine to get cut and I just slap on some hyaluronic acid instead. So when I run out of the Ordinary HA at the end of summer or so, I might replace it with the black pine serum if I'm masking less often.
So interesting @fieldsofclover. I love how you like to stick to one/two brands. I'm totally not brand loyal rather product loyal-ish! The superfood serum has a great ingredients list so would love to know how you like it when you can get hold of it.
It's a habit I got into back when I was using Ole Henriksen... I just have it in my head that things that come out of the same lab are a little more compatible so my routines feel less piecemeal.
Masks, on the other hand... I'm a total free agent there. This weekend I'm getting the Volition silt mask, an Origins rose clay, and maybe a new jar of the GlamGlow PowerMud. All over the map 😂
@fieldsofclover I’m going to vouch for god genes. I have not yet tried Luna, but my allure beauty box is suddenly getting all of these lovely things from April through summer—including Luna!!! So I will report back after I have used it.
A heads up if you've been wanting to try the Missha Time Revolution Essence- Target has it online for $25.49 and it usually retails for $40+ dollars. I think it's a mix up because they were selling the old version (i believe) but if you choose the in store pick up option, you get the Intense Moist version (new version). Not sure what you'll get if you get it delivered. It's a great deal! I just picked one up.
@darlyndar @mermadelove @Aaliaa @fieldsofclover
Nice!! This totally saved my skin this winter.
@makeitup305 Thanks for the tag, doll!!!! I just got a bunch of unicorn mail with a fair amount of really nice skin care, so I'll be passin on this one. I'm excited to try what I got! Stuff from Tata Harper and Tatcha that I have yet to try!! Who else loves tatcha?? I love everything I have tried from them. Really hoping the Silk Canvas is back in stock for the sale!!!!!
I bought this off of Amazon for the same price and it's amazing! I used Son & Park Beauty Water for the longest time but this keeps my glow much better.
@TheEconomist I'm almost out of my Beauty Water so I can't wait to try it out!
@Aaliaa @fieldsofclover @makeitup305 So I purchased a Jade Roller. I’ve been reading up on it. It seems like it would be a great addition to sheet masking days. Gothamista uses a Jade Roller over her mask. Have any of you ladies had any experience with one? Mine arrives tomorrow and I’m super excited! I purchased mine from Nordstrom.
@darlyndar I got one in a gift exchange from the lovely @mermadelove!!! It's lovely. She might be able to chime in on where it ws from, but I had one on my wishlist from amazon, and I've seen them on cult priced decently as well if you have other stuff to order from overseas. I've never used with masks (will have to look into it!), but using it feels so luxurious. I also use it to massage my sinuses. And it looks beautiful displayed in the bathroom too!
@CC3616 @darlyndar I got the one for the gift exchange from Amazon. I have to say you should spend at least $15-20 on one. Forget the 2 for $19.95 packs! Soooooo many bad reviews on those! There are quite a few out there. Dermstore has a nice one for $40 so you can try there too!!!! I ordered a rose quartz one and never received it. Ended up getting my money back from the seller. Still on the hunt for a rose quartz one! If anyone finds a great source for one, please tag me! 😘
Herbivore does a Rose Quartz one @mermadelove!
THANK YOU @Aaliaa darling!!!!!! I am going to put it on my wish list NOW!!!! ❤️
