Im broke

Hello— Im kind of broke right now, but I want a good yet cheap skincare routine. Do you guys have any ideas? I am willing to spend max. 30$ on a whole skincare routine— which might be a bit of a challenge!

Re: Im broke

@MyMathBookName   Hmmmm, in makeup artistry the basics for skincare to prep skin for makeup are indeed very basic and involve a cleanser and a micellar water to cleanse skin of excess oils and residual makeup, a sunscreen, a moisturizer and a lip balm.  Anything else is considered a luxury.
Garnier micellar water is fairly affordable at around $6, any lip balm like chapstick would work and neutrogena makes affordable moisturizers and sunscreens for a no frills skincare routine assuming your skin is not healing from acne or skin condition.

Re: Im broke

@MyMathBookName  I agree with @CookieGirl1 : gotta nail down what a "whole" skincare routine means to you. Bear in mind that a good effective skincare routine can be as simple as gentle cleanser (PM, optional AM), moisturizer (AM & PM), and broad spectrum sunscreen (AM). Those are the foundational steps most folks* need. Anything else you add depends on skincare issues you want to address and/or your skincare goals. What do you want skincare products to do for your skin?

In addition to CookieGirl1's brand suggestions, consider CeraVe, Vanicream, and Cetaphil, all found at your local drugstore or (if you're in the US) Target. My skincare routine's a mix of brands at various price points. My lowest-priced products are made by CeraVe, Vanicream, The Inkey List, The Ordinary, e.l.f., and COSRX.

*Some people claim they don't need sunscreen or moisturizer. If your skin's exposed to sunlight at any time throughout the year, even if it happens only while you're in a car (or bus, or train, or other vehicle) or sitting beside a window with open curtains/blinds, then you need sunscreen. If the sunscreen contains at least one good moisturizing ingredient (shea butter, petrolatum, squalane, etc.), then it can double as daytime moisturizer. I'm not sure many adults—even those with oily skin—can really avoid moisturizer at night without consequences like dry/dehydrated skin but hey, maybe there are some special unicorns out there. 🙂

Re: Im broke

@MyMathBookName You should probably decide what you would consider to be an "entire skincare routine" because that's pretty vague.  Pick out a few staple must-have types/categories of products that you feel like you need.  I would look at some of the drugstore-priced lines from Bliss, Versed, the Inkey List, or the Ordinary to find some good but more "affordable" options.
