Re: HI. I NEED HELP W THIS. ID IF ITS FUNGAL ACNE, CLOSED COMEDOONES OR ROSACEA !!! derms not helping

Hi @sandra245 ! Sorry youโ€™re getting different answers from various derms. Doctors (not just dermatologists, but pretty much any medical doctor) donโ€™t always get it right on the first try. A derm might diagnose you with one thing and provide treatment for it, only to realize (after you tell them the treatment didnโ€™t help) they were wrong the first time. I know firsthand how frustrating that can be for any medical issue.

A quick way to find out if you have โ€œfungal acneโ€ (which is not acne at all; itโ€™s yeast overgrowth/activity) is to wash that part of your face with an anti-dandruff shampoo a few times a week and see if it helps. Shampoos to consider are Vanicream Dandruff Shampoo (contains pyrithione zinc), Nizoral (contains ketoconazole), or Selsun Blue (contains selenium sulfide). Nizoral and Selsun Blue are heavily fragranced, so I recommend trying Vanicreamโ€™s shampoo first. But all 3 of the active ingredients in those shampoos can treat folliculitis.

Otherwise, itโ€™s best to try a dermatologistโ€™s recommended treatment for either rosacea or closed comedones. None of us here on BIC are derms or medical doctors who can diagnose skin, so all we can do is guess. ๐Ÿ™‚ Also, estheticians in the US cannot medically diagnosis skin or prescribe medication (they arenโ€™t required to go through medical school), so they canโ€™t diagnose you either. Gotta work with a doctor for that. I hope you get the right diagnosis and treatment soon!

Hi ๐Ÿฉท

Im a estheticianโœจI can try to help you

*Disclaimer* Iโ€™m not claiming my advice is 100% right but I have a few things in mindโ€ฆ.The reaction could be a Rosacea flare up ? I say this because rosacea can appear red, inflamed, bumpy, and your skin seems to have these traits. The affected area also seems isolated around your cheeksโ€ฆwhich again is a common area for Rosacea. I donโ€™t want to diagnose you with a Rosacea skin type but i would look into it. I know that there are  some remedies to help calm flare ups as well. Rosacea also can minke acne, closed Comedones and pustules and papulasโ€ฆ.this reaction could also be a allergic reaction to a certain product or irrantant? I had a allergic reaction around my eyes from a product before and my eyes become swollenโ€ฆit also triggers the eczema around my eyesโ€ฆcreating small bumps.

I would look into seeking a medical esthetician, they could take a look at your skin ๐Ÿฉท hope this helps
