Extreme Acne

Hi y'all!

I have a friend who has really bad acne and would wish it would go away! She has tried many things but nothing has seemed to do the job well. Anybody who's experiencing/experienced this and had something that really worked for them?!

Re: Extreme Acne

I agree with everything that @WinglessOne said! I used to struggle with horrible cystic acne, and it only cleared up after I finally sought help from a dermatologist. If your friend still wants to try another product before going that route, I agree that Differin Gel is the best option - be sure and do some research on it first, though, as it can be irritating and you want to make sure to use it properly.

Re: Extreme Acne

Hi @sephoralover076 ! Rather than randomly throw more products at her acne, your friend should see a board certified dermatologist if she can. There are different types of acne, and they don’t all respond well to the same ingredients/treatments. A derm can diagnose your friend’s skin, tell her which type of acne she has, and offer treatment options suited to her particular skin. Examples: a derm could prescribe acne medication, recommend an OTC product (like Differin Gel, which contains non-Rx strength adapalene), or do in-office treatments like cortisone injections. A dermatologist will be more helpful than us here on BIC since none of us are medical docs who can diagnose her skin. 😉

Re: Extreme Acne

@sephoralover076 the best advice I can give is she should see a medical professional regarding this
